http://www.theonion.com/articles/sound-technicians-resort-to-hanging-donald-sutherl,27634/ BURBANK, CA—During a recording session earlier this week, technicians at ProSound Studios found they were able to obtain a perfectly lush, heady voice-over resonance by hanging actor Donald Sutherland upside down from the railing of an empty staircase. "We tried lowering him into an old smokestack, but you lose some of the subtlety in his lower register that way," audio engineer Kevin Coe said as he loosened Mr. Sutherland's leg buckles and eased him down onto the landing. "Toyota is very specific about the sound they want, and we found that hanging Donald upside down in this s…

Hi all, I've looked through previous posts and don't find anything current. Can anyone point me to current usable frequencies for Poland? I'm actually planning / hoping for a relatively simple boom / plants setup for a small drama, and no longer own any radio systems anyway BUT I'd rather we were prepared before I start to help my friend start preproduction ... As well as UHF, any info on VHF (if still applicable) would also be appreciated for monitoring/scratch tracks ... Dzjekuje in advance, Jez Adamson (I know - a funny name in Polish!)

Just listened to this. It gave me much pleasure to hear the music and to see the microphones. Fairest isle, all isles excelling, Seat of pleasure and of love. Venus here will choose her dwelling, And forsake her Cyprian grove. Cupid from his fav'rite nation Care and envy will remove; Jealousy that poisons passion, And despair that dies for love. Gentle murmurs, sweet complaining, Sighs that blow the fire of love, Soft repulses, kind disdaining, Shall be all the pains you prove. Every swain shall pay his duty, Grateful every man shall prove; And as these excel in beauty, …

I just experienced the kind of tech support we all want. I own five different G-Technology drives. Three of the Mini bus-powered 250GB drives that I use for archiving my Deva folders. A 1TB drive designed for my Mac-Mini and a back up drive for my Mac that sits at home, a 250GB G-Drive. The 250 GB G-Drive I purchased in June of 2008 started to fail, so I contacted G-Tech support and off it went for repair. Any new drives you purchase now have a 3 year warranty, but mine was not eligible so they offered to repair it for free with a 30 day warranty. They called me with in a week to tell me they got the old drive working but were concerned that it would fail again. Jus…

I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this. I know that all engines put out RF of some sort, but today was pretty extreme. I was on a shoot where I was on a metal pontoon boat with an out board motor. When every the boat was running, I would get full spikes in my RF meters about every 2-3 seconds and pretty random and erratic. Whenever the boat was off, it completely went away and the RF meters were totally clean I was running 2 QRX's, Nomad, and MicPlexer.

OK, so it's little off topic, but it does involve sound. When I'm not working or spending time with my family, I'm usually riding or wishing I was riding my mountain bike. I saw this video about Easton, who make high end wheels for mountain and road bikes. You can see how the technicians listen to the sound of the spokes to tell when it's true. Almost like tuning guitar strings. And by the way, you will notice they are using a Behringer mixer to listen to the sound....maybe I'll go double check my wheels ! LOL. http://www.thefutureschannel.com/dockets/realworld/building_testing_bike_wheels/

I was up on Sounderday this morning and one of the many cans we were kicking was movies with soft dialog and how difficult it was to capture. Tonight I watched the 2019 film "Poison Rose" with John Travolta and Morgan Freeman. Will Loftin was the mixer. Scott Johnson was the boom op. Are they around to ask question of concerning the soft dialog? https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5862166/

Hello everyone! I am currently working on the production of a musical. I’m doing FOH. One of the actresses is moving a lot and on the ground where putting the mic pack on her back or anywhere around her waist seems like a bad idea. Any tips on where to hide the mic pack so that it’s both safe and out of sight. You guys are the best!!
