Why does it seem like I get this message constantly? "Checkout will be available in 23 hours." It seems frequent. Maybe it's just coincidental that every time I need something.......

I've looked and read through many different forums and websites trying to get a straight answer, but I'm not 100% clear on what I need. Here is the situation: I have a multicam interview shoot with one ARRI Alexa and one ARRI Amira. They want timecode to be synced between cameras and the sound recorder without being tethered. I am recording on a Sound Devices 552 mixer which doesn't generate timecode. What I need is a straight forward explanation of what I need to rent to make this happen and how to set it up. Does anyone have any input? As a side note, I do NOT want to record timecode through XLR, I want to use the TA3F Connector so it timestamps the audio file. I'v…

Hey guys, Was recently looking for new headphones and found a great website for A/B comparisons [source vs. headphones] They posted a video on what I consider a pretty intricate testing phase. Headphone Testing They also have a soundcloud website database of different headphones / monitors / microphones. I found it very useful narrowing down my selections. Sound Cloud Library Apologies if this is old hat - but it is kind of fun to see how the cans you are using stack up against the mastered tracks.

Prompted by Jeff's #fbf post on FB today, I'm about to embark on a cover solution to my current cart configuration. I've been in New Mexico for the last 4 months and the wind, dust, rain, etc. that I have experienced has got me thinking. The boat cover, sail maker route seems to be the most logical as is evident by the photo Jeff posted today. Anyone have experience with this in LA? Any recommendations? Thanks in advance. PWP

I'd like to hear how you guys attach a transmitter to an athlete so that it WILL NOT come off. i.e. Hockey or Football players that take severe hits and falls. I don't know if there are any sound brothers from NFL Films here... Just curious in my off time... Thanks!

I am guess it is something I am doing wrong. When I fill out the header info on creating a sound report the info seems to go in any random order it wants to and not the order I would like it to. Example if I list the date at the top of the first column it might end up the third entry down in the third column. Thanks Tom

Hey Guys, I'm new here and I've done a few searches looking for the info I need but haven't quite found an answer to my specific question. I'm shooting for 3 weeks in the Philippines on a doco - I'm setting up an audio rig with 2 radio mics (along with a boom). Nothing too strenuous, no water action, just interviews etc We'll be in Manilla but also Davao City. Only thing is I can't find any info on the restricted frequencies inside the Philippines. So I'm a bit confused as to which of the below options would work best for in country shooting.... So my three options for radio mics are: - Sennheiser EW 100 ENG G3-B - Sennheiser EW112-p G3 - Se…

This may be old news already but I figured I'd post it for anyone who hasn't seen it yet. The guys at the Audio Dept. shared it with me. I thought it was kinda funny.

Creative little video from the New York Times... Downhill ski racers talk about how they use sound to help them get down the course. Anyone have recommendations for a good attorney? I need to go after a client for not paying me for a week's worth of work and sticking me with travel expenses. Not sure if it matters but I'm in CA, the job was in Virginia, and the contract they sent me was from Arizona.

Hiya friends: In the Zaxcom ERX series manual, it says: "TIP: There are several smart phone apps that will scan what wi-fi frequencies are being used in your area. This can be useful in selecting a clear frequency." I just looked on the App Store and have found nearly a hundred different versions of this, none of which seem exactly right for our purposes in this application. Can anyone recommend an app that's working for them to help choose Zaxnet frequencies? Thanks in advance, E.

Hello, i m shooting a multi caméra situation with some cameras are rolling at 25 FPS and others in 50 FPS. What is the best practice for sync? I m recording with my SD664 and Ambient ACL 201 TC box. There is only 25 FPS on the Ambient TC logger. I thought to make a clap but maybe is there a better solution? Best regards.

Hi All, Was checking out this Bill Frisell concert on YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=loMqVClAWz4 Had my head in the sweet spot (equilateral triangle between left and right speakers). I noticed that the guitar seemed to appear right in front of me - and very forward, as if coming right to me. If i move my head slowly between the speakers, I can hear a very narrow but distinct centre. Not sure if I'm hearing a stereo mix or dual mono - nonetheless an interesting feeling that the instruments/music is coming right to me, as opposed to feeling distant coming from the stage. Curious to see what y'all might hear. Thanks. Cheers, Dave

Background: I have some audio knowledge, but probably less than 99% of all of you when it comes to film sound. Clip: Question: What is going on in this clip?!!!!! Why is the mixer/recorder manipulating the faders on nearly every syllable of the actors' lines? Wouldn't this be audible? What is the purpose? Is this SOP for you guys? What am I missing? This clip has bothered me since I saw it a year ago. The guy is using an Aaton Cantar, so one would assume he knows his stuff. Appreciate you all helping to solve the mystery.

According to "Liberal think tanks", "Washington studies" and the geniuses in Sacramento, California isn't suffering any job losses from runaway production in other states? All they had to do was check with the many technicians in Los Angeles and ask. The L.A. Times headline reads; Do Hollywood tax credits really help the economy? Capitol's number crunchers wonder if proposed $200 million in subsidies could be used better elsewhere. http://www.latimes.c...0,5860362.story

I am contemplating the purchase of a mini Solice and I have just read Glen Trew's short appraisal of using it with a couple of SSD 663. Glen was critical of the gain of the input channels and I wondered if any other user has had the same experience. PSC tell me that they have not had any other negative feedback about the gain and say that whilst it could be altered there are no plans to implement such a change.
