Hello! I just got my Deity SPD1. When powering it with my 65W Magsafe-USB-C it shows it's only getting 9V, which is not enough for my DADM226. I don't know why it is like that, because the Magsafe is supposed to deliver also 12V or more. Which USB-C power supply do you recommend / use with the Deity? And: Is there a way to set USB-C to first priority power? When I attach USB-C and a smart battery simultaniously it first drains the battery and then switches to USB-C. But what I'd like to do on my cart is using USB-C for wall power but having a battery as a backup if wall power is gone. I can't find any settings on the SPD-1 …

I've been using a rode boompole pro for a couple of years now, and it's been fine for the low-no budget student short films I've been working on, but now I'm getting boom-op gigs and I don't think it'll really cut it anymore. Ideally, I'm looking for something that's internally cabled (coiled) with a side exit xlr, and not 6 sections. Considering the rode pole reaches 10' max, would it make sense to invest in a longer pole to start, then upgrade from the rode one to a nicer short pole down the line? Or would it be better to shoot down the middle for a 4m pole? Budget isn't too much of a factor, I want to get something that will last. I've heard go…

I just received a call from a client that this happened although we used a slate so we were covered. They were kind enough to let me know. I went thru months of files and found only one other time this happened. The other time was not the first file but the 6th file recorded that day. Anyone else run into this and know what might have caused it? I feel like operator error for my instance is key as I am working on tracing my steps seeing if I can duplicate it. Both MARF and Wav mirror versions show zero start time on these particular files.

Hi folks, am relatively new to location sound recording and in the process of building up my sound package. Has anyone used the Relacart PM320R-E? I believe they are compatible with my Sennheiser G3 (UK Band E 862-865). Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Billy

I bought a couple of DPA 6060 mics to replace my ageing cos-11s. I bought the microdot version with the Lectro adapter. With my cos-11s I typically have the gain on my Lectro SMV around 18. With the 6060 I had to gain up to 27 to get an acceptable level out of the mic. Also it had a noticeable noise floor and it had some intermittent pops and drop outs. I’m wondering if I’m doing something wrong. Are 6060s wired differently and I bought the wrong one? I bought it from B&H and the description stated that it was for SM transmitters. Any thoughts or help are appreciated.

Hi ! I'm currently upgrading my kit for the upcoming shoot and I have a question about the frequency band for my IEMs and scratch audio. I'll have 8 A10 tx in the band 470 - 558 and 2 TX RX sennheizer G3 kit in the band 516 - 558 I'd like to use the G3s with some IEM G4 for the director, script, boom ops and scratch audio I think I could use the A10s between 470 and 510 and the G3s around 554 558 almost everyone in my region (europe) uses 800 band for their IEMs and I easily understand that it gives more room for TX frequencies and it would prevent interferences with the A10 RX when I am in a bag setup Bu…

My favorite contribution to Nova is becoming a reality. This is a game changer for reality bag mixers! it uses Bias voltage to enable the output to activate Push to talk on the walkie. Gene Martin is making me hd26 with a mic that will be connected to Nova and I can use the microphone and com to enable the walkie. I have been routing the walkie to my mixer/recorder for a very long time and now I don’t even need to use the walkie microphone and bring it to my mount. Everything is integrated and eliminates the need for those PTT walkie microphones.

I’ve been using LECTRO SR SLEEVE‘s to mount my IFBlue RX’s on camera for a scratch track. Just remove the clip from the IFBlue and the fit is too perfect. Endless mounting options from there and adds some “stoutnesses” the the IFBlue. 10/10

Does anybody have definitive knowledge of what became of ZHD48? Zaxcom stopped supporting it with the MRX214/414, and, although it is in the manual for the TRX745 (and TRXLA), it's not actually possible to select it with any of the current-firmware transmitters that I own. What happened? Is ZHD96 a better compromise? Did ZHD48 not live up to its promise? I have no immediate need for stacking frequencies so closely, but I was curious about the claimed superior performance with indoor reflections.

Has anyone found a configuration for the COSI that can fit a DPA4017b? I currently have the COSI-XL-8060 (long enough for the 8060 + MZ filter). I'd love to be able to just switch out mic plug holders into the same COSI for the 4017b, but I think the 4017 might be one inch too long to pull it off. Looking for experiences and ideas, because I absolutely love my COSI.

I want to use my A20 mini Tx with a DPA 4097 as a plant mic. The shape of the Tx makes it problematic. Does anyone have a suggestion for mounting or propping the unit? I need it to be vibration resistant.

Hello - I'm struggling with a minor issue. Setup is DSR4 into a SL2/888 Transmitter is single block 19 UH400 Latest FW on DSR4 and 888. receiver mode is NA HYB When I select a freq in the block 19 range using the 888 menus, it prompts me to select between 470 and 19. Even if I select 19, it immediately reverts to 470, and therefore won't work with my block 19 tx. However, if I manually select the frequency on the face of the DSR4, the DSR4 screen menu gives me a 470/19 toggle option...I choose the 19 option and it all works. It even show blocks 19 on the 888/SL2 receiver menu. But if I make any frequency adjustment n…

A shooter friend of mine just bought himself a brace of Diety TC1s. His cameras are FX9 and A7 types, and he's been having pretty good luck with them on long-roll multicam shoots. The specs are impressive and the price is pretty darn low. Anyone adopted these? At $200 a pop or $550 for a 3-pack is there any point in getting into these re: rentals, since I'd guess serious shooters will just buy their own?

I’m curious what users of the Sound Devices Nexus “Plan B” is when there’s an issue that cannot be resolved in the field and the unit needs to be sent in for repair? That’s up to 16 channels out of commission! Do you have another Nexus waiting in the wings? Or 8 A20 RX’s standing by?….I feel this “too many eggs in one basket” (literally all of the eggs) scenario is a bit of a concern for the remote field work that many of us get into. I work in A LOT of locations with out cellular service and shipping a replacement product can takes days. These shoots aren’t always long but a lot is at stake. I bring this up because after using Lec…

This is not a comprehensive scientific test, just a fun experiment I did with my new Shure wireless kits to show their excellent reception. It's not a real world test, but impressive nonetheless. My setup was just a Lectro ALP620 and an SNA600a directly to the SMa connectors on the ADX5D. The receiver antennas were attached to my sound bag, not elevated or anything. ADX1M was set to 20mw output, the ADX1 was set to 40mw. This photo/video was the distance I got before the ADX1M started to drop out, the ADX1 was still holding no problem at about half strength. IMG_1566.MOV Edit: I'm not sure why the video…

Hello all. I've worked in my first film in 1996 with a rented inmaculate Nagra IVS , and it was an excelent experience. In 94, i've used a Nagra III to record some cars FX, and mono backgounds for a film, and it was very fun. I've since 1990 a Revox B77, that's in the shelf now, as a pair of Uher reports, but i never owned a Nagra. In my country a guy is selling a Nagra III and a Nagra E, and my blood starts to boil again.... The III is a legendary machine, but it's older, and i'm affraid something goes wrong in the future ( it's working fine now). The E is simpler, and newer, but less attractive to me… Somone knows which has the best pr…

Something I've never learnt which is almost embarrassing to ask at this point... Aes3 and aes42 are often mentioned by others. I have an sd 833, previously a 633. Both of which have these functions. Also my mcr42 wisycoms have these as an output. I have zero knowledge on how and when is good to use these options. I know it's digital format. From online it sounds like it can add extra inputs through an xlr, or make a mic sound cleaner. So my question is can you give me scenarios on when to use them and why. For example would using my mkh50 through an xlr benefit from using aes? If so why? Or would using the aes output of my wi…

Greetings All, A few months ago I put a bug in the ear of my friends Justin and Lukas at ProSound in New Orleans.. The idea was to repurpose one of the 2 headphone outputs on the 788t to be used as a Mic input that would replace the function of the onboard slate mic.. This addresses one of the long standing issues of having to give up input 8 to use an external slate mic... Today I'm am beyond happy to report "THEY HAVE DONE IT"!! The modified 788t the Mini headphone jack as an Input.. We first tested it with a Sennheiser G2/G3 style connector and it worked! Sounded Great. I then connected a Phantom Powered mic up thru a Denecke Phantom Power supply.. Again Success. …
