Has anyone done, or can anyone point to, a real comparison between current Lectrosonic and Sennheiser wireless systems? Ideally the comparison would be done using the same lav mics of course. Sort of like a double-blind test...

I just got my neumann81i, even on my nomand. Found in the same setting as big as gain. The 81 signal is weaker than mkh-60, nomand push, what reason is this, normal, how to solve, thank you.

I think one of the main things I dislike about the ME-2 besides the boxy tone is the fact that the body of the mic is so micro phonic that it seems to get worse with moleskin. Any clothing noise is greatly amplified when its not even rubbing against the top of the mic. Which of the other lav mics are considerably better in this regard? Alistair

Hello, I have always used a little Comtek 9v powered transmitter to a receiver on a slate for run and gun music video playback for timecode transmission. Just few days ago, I started having terrible range issues. I swapped cables, tried different transmitters and receivers, all to no avail. My range was down to 5 feet. I was using it with another transmitter in my bag for a director's feed and camera audio feed. Set up was a 788T with CL-WIFI. Has anyone else encountered this issue. I did a frequency check with FreqFinder and it showed a 3rd order intermod with the WIFI and the Comteks, but I'm not sure if this is enough to be the cause. Can anyone chime in …

Any update on where Maxx is at? Any reconsideration if zaxnet could be implemented as an option? Or is there no chance of that. I would love a Maxx as a backup in my kit for nomad.

Question for those very well aquainted with the 788T.... I am not... yet.... On my 01V96 I can use two faders and one mic for use as a Private line on say channel 7 and a Slate mic on channel 8... on the 788.. (actually 15 and 16 on my Yamaha..) Can't seem to make this happen.. Can I route this on the 788 with the CL8... I would hate to use two different mics... Just to note, I will have a CL 9 soon... Thanks in advance...

Hey guys, I am a proud owner of 4 Lectro 211 wireless for the last 8 years and even though I think I am due for an upgrade in wireless I feel bad about getting rid of something that lives in my bag and works perfectly fine. I recently used the SMQV transmitter on a long term gig and paired with the SM remote app realized this is an absolute game changer and came to the conclusion this alone is worth the upgrade. This leads me to my question. Are there drawbacks of operating SMQV's in 200 Compatability mode. Other than the obvious differences in the menu's between 200 and 400, is there a difference in performance? Thanks ahead of time.

Hello all, This company has been mentioned on here several times in the past year or so, but I just wanted to post about a product of theirs that I recently purchased that is making my life much easier: About 4 years ago, I had surgery on a herniated disk in my lumbar spine. I'm mostly fine now, thanks to a good surgeon, and a couple of excellent physical therapists. However, its not lost on me that the poor ergonomics of typical ENG sound equipment were probably a major contributor to my problems (that and not stretching!!!). Since then, I've been searching for a system that would eliminate the need for a harness, taking the weight off my back and shoulders and …

Hi, I'm permanently wiring an office for corporate recording and training. Great vocal capture is the top priority, and we've settled on Schoeps mics. I'm trying to decide between CCM 41s or going the more traditional route of CMC 641s. I've done a lot of searching and reading, and it seems like the audio quality is equal. I can't use the Cut 1 with the CCM, but since the recording will happen at a fixed location with great analog gear capturing the signal, I can roll off the low-end at the preamp or mixer and be fine. I *want* to buy the CCMs, but wanted to ask if anyone has noticed any issues with them --- durability compared to the modular CMCs or a…

Question for the lectrosonics gang. Do you currently have any products that get powder coated? My reason for asking is, I'm wondering If you would consider doing a run of powder coated 411 top bazels. I would gladly purchase some frequency block corresponding colored bazels to replace the black top. My DYI nail polish is not looking so fresh anymore. Would there be a reasonable profit margin to be made on such an endeavor?

Hello I have read the posts about the handling-noise problems with Sennheiser MKH8050, but it is very tempting to try it as an indoor boom-mike.. For the price it seems like a good investment. I own the MKH 8020 omni and love the sound. So: Have anyone tried the standard MZS 8000 shockmount from Sennheiser for this mike? Are there better alternatives? I'm planning to use it with my Tascam HS-p82 recorder. It has HP-filter with variable frequenzy and slope (upto 18 db/oct) Will this take care of much of the handling-noise issues? Can I live without the extra hp-filter in the microphone? Thanks, Morten

It's definitely a rare occasion to be recording sound in a meat locker.... it was the first time for me, and overall an unpleasant experience! I must have replaced about five sets of batteries to my Zoom H4n while I tried to record a interview to be transcribed, the batteries would drop to zero in a matter of two minutes form the time I replaced them! I have never seen anything like it. Once I reached home, I have tested the machine again, without finding anything wrong with either the recorder or the batteries I used! As a result I was only able to save one of several clips I thought I recorded on an SD card. Lack of power kept the clips from being saved at the…

Hi, I understand there have been a few topics on these, but I think mostly they've been about using them for recording dialogue etc through mixers and external mics. So here's one regarding the sound quality of built-in mics. This coming February I'm taking a three week trip to Vietnam, Thailand and probably Cambodia in between. Now, obviously I'd love to record all these cool exotic sounds and atmos you find in locations like that, but since it's a holiday, I probably won't want to risk bringing my pro equipment (like a 302), which would attract attention, be a bit heavy and unpractical to carry around etc etc. So it'll probably be handheld recorders. I ow…

Recently I rented a Sound Device 744T. After about a week of use, it developed a strange quirk (unless someone tells me it was user error). About ten seconds into recording it would just stop on its own volition. I quickly hit record again and it would continue just fine for the rest of the session. This happened repeatedly. Any clues as to what's going on? At first I thought it was a heat issue, but that didn't make sense because it would record perfectly after the second hit. Is there a setting somewhere I missed?

I haven't been able to find any info on rain slate covers other than the Modular 51 one ($50). I'm either looking for a DIY way or perhaps an alternate design. Options are always good! Just wondering how some of you protect your slates in the rain. I've seen my tc display lose some segments but fixes it self when it dries. I just want to prevent any damage when we're out in the rain.

I am having an issue with my trx900la, where it seems to have reverted to lower power transmission options. I was in recording mode and the units' battery died. In the past when the batteries have died, I've had transmitters that would not display anything on the QRX but still had something on the transmitter display as if it was in low power standby. This time nothing displayed and the unit was completely off. When I put new batteries into it, there was an error screen that came up. Unfortunately I do not remember what the actual message was. I cycled the power twice and then the unit booted into what appeared to be the normal boot sequence, but upon further …

Hey Guys, I know you all with cringe at the site of this on jwsound, but I'm CURIOUS if anyone has tried out the Zoom R16 as a recorder for low budget film making? (Ether On It's Own or with Boom Recorder?). http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/R16/ I realize it's a plastic piece of cheap recorder but it would have it's uses.

I've got an idea for a mic accessory that requires some expertise in metal work (no electronics involved). I don't know the first thing about inventing and marketing something like this. Have any of you done something like this and could recommend a designer and/or manufacturer? Thanks

Last week I was on location in a corporate headquarters computer center. I did scan on both my Lectro's receivers. (211 blk 26, 201 blk 21). Both blocks showed solid rf across the entire block, about halfway up. This occurred in the lobby, outside the main server room. Talent was only a few feet away, so it worked out, but when she moved about 20 feet away between takes I was taking hits. Our next location was the server room, so I was nervous. When we got in there, the blocks were almost completely open, normal for this town. I use these blocks all over town, always scanning, and have never seen anything like this. Any thoughts??? Bag is the two Lectr…
