JW SOUND Hey all, Am on a travel job, shooting with a 5D, and have lost the hotshoe mount to a small HD monitor, and now have a bad situation with my Senny G2 taped to the tripod arm, and getting unplugged all the time, and generally pissing everyone off, and mostly me. Does anyone know of a hotshoe adaptor that will allow my G2 unit and the monitor to coexist on top of the camera? Cheers!

Hello, I have a potential job coming up and was loking for your collective thoughts. It involes 2 cameras , 2 boats, and 2 channel lav audio and boom. I have a PSC pro mix 6, Lectro 401s' and Lectro smvs', and a blimp and 416. I know I can slave the time code of the 2 cams to match and feed the main cam the 2-3 channels panned l/r and leave the 2nd cam on its shotgun for a potential 4th channel....or I can use the 2nd set of outputs of my PSC and sony uwp wireless recievers/trannies to feed the 2nd camera. What way in your collective opinions would be the best way to go? Thanks JHW

hey guys, I'm fed up with hiring IEMs and not really wanting to spend a few hundred pounds buying my own. I have two sets of EW100 G1's. How do you guys use them as reasonable sounding IEMs? Which attenuater do you use, which output would you use? And how do you achieve a dual mono sound - IE when plugging in some cans how do you send both a L+R signal. Usually a director I supply IEMs to isnt interested in the various channels I'm recording - they just want to hear the conversation over the sound of the road etc whilst looking at their round the neck monitor. Any help with exact accessories would be massively helpful Thanks guys Keep well S…

Any forum users with real world experience of using Lectro octopacks with other brands of (dual channel , diversity) drop-in receivers? I am considering using octopacks with wisycoms mcr42 drop-in receivers: http://www.wisycom.com/product.php?ID=48 (it conceivably be used with other brands too): http://www.audioltd.com/new-en2-slot-in-receiver-debuts-at-bve-london/ http://www.sony.co.uk/biz/product/digiwirelessreceivers/dwr-s01d/overview atb, dan.

1 of the rental houses in London has told me the SD788t has had the auto-mix function implemented. I'm wondering if any forum contributors have some real world experience with this function. I'm considering the use of an auto-mixer on an upcoming project to generate a mix down scratch track and monitor option because of the high track count involved and the nature of the production (unscripted dialogue in 4 different languages). The plan is I can concentrate on delivering nicely balanced (optimally leveled) iso tracks POST fader and not get bogged down with a mix track the post supervisor has told me is just for reference. Questions I particularly need answered a…

Anyone using Lectro block 23 regularly in the major US markets of narrative film and TV? I know there's always a couple of freqs available everywhere, but wondering about operating 4-6 systems in this block. Thanks

Obviously not many options to keep the signal in the digital domain: zaxcom trx942 and lectrosonics d4. And so what solutions (da converter + TX + powering) have folks employed when going via analogue transmitters? As the solution would be worn and operated by a boom op the powering and size of the overall solution needs to be considered along with quality, reliability and compatibility. All observations welcome. dan. ps. Frequencies permitting there is high likely hood we will have 2 d4 systems for monitoring anyway. Do d4 TX and RX operate well in close proximity to each other? eg in the same bag/pouc the boom op would be wearing?

Hey guys. I recently purchased a Lectro SRa for use as a camera hop, and took it out for the first time a few days ago. It was fed by 2 SMQV's, which in turn were fed by the line level outs of my 788. I left the gain of the 788 output at -4dB and set both the tx's and rx gain to zero. When I did this, I noticed that the metering on the SRa seemed really hot, while the meters on the tx's were barely hitting above -20. Did I get something mixed up with the gain staging here, or am I just misreading meters on the SRa (I haven't found anything in the manual about the meter scale)? Seems like the metering on the tx's should be more or less identical to the rx, assuming that th…

To avoid the ear fatigue of wearing closed-back headphones (and in situations where i can get away with it) i'd like to add some open-back HPs to my collection. I generally used sennheiser HD25s and sony 7506s, I also like (but don't own) dt250s. Oh yeah, they need to be circumaural as I have big sticky out ears (another reason why hd25s are fatiguing for me). atb, dan.

So I am looking to augment my cart rig with a analog mixer. Obviously since I am using it with the 788t i would love to have 8 direct outs. Another mixer recommended the Mackie 1642vlz3 , any thoughts on this? The mackie seems like the perfect size for what I want, but maybe I am overlooking or missing other mixers? please chime in! and thanks, Reza

My Nomad 6 delivered recently. I tested extensively at home without detecting any problems. I took it out on my first job last week and had some serious issues. In the middle of recording a scene it stopped processing audio. I heard an audible pop, as if it was shutting down but it kept recording silence. A warning came up: "dangerously low external voltage". At this point my voltage meter read 0.0 and the interface was haywire. My NP1 battery had been reading 14.5 volts or so before this incident and I had internal batteries installed. I had tested the internal batteries previously by hot swapping an NP1 and the until didn't miss a beat. I swapped out CF cards a…

Hey Everyone, I read recently on a post that someone was getting BETTER range and performance out of their Lectro 411 systems by setting the wattage down to 50 mW. This seems counter-intuitive. What has your experience been? I'd think that 100 mW would give me more range, but I guess 50 mW could give less "splatter" and therefore less intermod problems. -Matt

I have been having issues with "static" between my boom cable, equipped with the Neutrik RF connectors, and my Denecke P48 power supplies. I have checked and cleaned cables and connectors, etc., and Denecke serviced the power supplies. Still having issues at the connector. Both cables, both boxes, etc., so unlikely just a bad piece of gear. It seems to be some kind of static build up. Problem is solved by an unplug and plug. Shaking and tugging produces no noise. But let it sit for a little while, then pick up the pole to use it, and scratchiness occurs. Anyone else experiencing this? I can only imagine it's the Nuetrik connector, since it's the only "new" pr…

My otherwise wonderful 4 year old K251 poles have started rattling. Well maintained, clean and protected. Brenda was very kind to have sent me some of those teflon adhesive backed strips about a year ago... I am wondering if replacing them will help alleviate the problem. Has anyone experienced this problem? -vin

I called sound devices and got them to tell me what it uses with my current setup of 8 wireless and CL-8 and no battery charging, Josh said 14 watts, he said turning on the internal charger adds another 7. Does any one know how many watts the 788t pulls with everything attached, ie; all channels with phantom power, a CL9, a CL-wifi, Internal battery charging, LCD and LEDs on Bright and all channels at maximum gain? I love Sound Devices but I hate when companies post the minimum power draw of their unit, what use is that? Tell me the max and Ill build a system to deal with it then be happily surprised that it lasts a long time when Im not running everythi…

I am baffled.... I ordered a coiled boom cable from loon a month ago and they shipped it right away. I mailed a check the same day . My check still has not been cashed. I sent a few emails asking about it. No response. This is a first: loon sending the product and not cashing my check. Sent from my HD7 T9292 using Board Express

I almost hate to ask this as it's probably obvious but since I've just got my first boom pole with an internal coiled cable... Is there a "best" way to expand or collapse the pole (K-Tek Klassic) to avoid kinking the internal cable as much as possible? Is it best to start collapsing at the top (the end with the mic) or the bottom?
