I remember having read somewhere that it exists some sort of extension in order not to unload the whole bag just to retrieve the SD 552 card "conveniently" situated at the bottom of the mixer. It was some times ago, and now I could make use of the thing. Can somebody share any info on that ? (And... ahem... yes... I searched. Probably not enough, or not the good way, or maybe not the the way the Senator would have done...) Thanks Jean-Paul Bataille http://www.youtube.com/batzic (if you like guitar playing)

This is a 12vdc power plug to a Marshall video V-R72DP-2C dual 7" monitor rackmount unit. I'm looking to buy an extra one and I can't identify this plug. I tried an extensive internet search including Marshall Electronics and nothing has turned up. (No, I haven't contacted Marshall yet - their website had no clues) I just wanted to ask here first. Anyone know what it is? Thanks Bob

As described on a previous thread in the Zaxcom forum titled: http://www.zaxcom.com/forum/showthre...-Board-in-Deva, a reliability problem was discovered in a particular batch of circuit boards used in the Remote Audio Drive Mounter system. The only boards that had a reliability issue were made in 2011, and are clearly labeled with that date. Boards marked with the date "2011" should not be used. There is now a replacement board offered free of charge in exchange for all boards dated "2011". (See accompanying photos). There were only a handful of these problematic boards distributed. All boards prior to those marked with the date "2011" (all of which were marked with…

Hi Guys, (and girls of course) Since we're all fired up about multi track recorders right now I want to ask if any one has any suggestions for something that has been on my mind recently... I have a Tascam dr680 with a 552 feeding it's digital input giving me 8 tracks or 6 + 5:2. For the six piece funk/jazz groups I am recording it's not enough channels to track it as I would like. But ... what is there out there with more than 8 mic inputs that is of a reasonable price? I split before the FOH mixer. These events don't have a full pa sound mix. I want to avoid using a laptop but would if there is a sound card (usb, fire wire 400, 800 express…

i'm ready to start putting together a basic kit. I know what the basics are and am going with the "buy once cry once" approach and willing to invest in quality instead of quantity within my budget and add as I go. With all the reading I have been doing on this site and calculating different equipment costs that I'm interested in it seems that going Nomad makes the most sense financially based on what you get for the price and upgradeability. I don't need a Nomad at this point and I might never need that many inputs and tracks but when you add up Sound Devices 302 or even a Mix Pre and a 702 for really not a lot more you can get into a Nomad 4. Is the Nomad a no br…

Hey all, just thought I would post some making-of and in-action photos of my new cart. I built it just prior to a film I'm currently on and it has been performing very well. I really wanted an encapsulated rack based design, but also have something that is portable enough to break off into a smaller "brain" for insert car shots, etc. I also wanted to make the rack unit as ergonomic and space efficient as possible. I'm one of these fellows who likes to stand while he works as well. The first photo shows the panels cut out and being held together for final measuring purposes. All the equipment fits in with not much room to spare so I really had to make sure there was c…

I'm on a gig right now where I only have a couple of G3s as lavs. Now and again I'm getting this weird, fuzzy noise. Kind of sounds like a connection that isn't completly tight or some moisture has gotten into a connection. I've checked everything thoroughly and neither is the case. It then struck me that it might be static electricity going into the receivers. We're shooting in -10 Celsius, so everybody, including me, is wearing lots of cloaths. Once when I got the weird noise, I started shaking my audiobag. This seemed to increase it slightly for 2-3 seconds, and then it stoppet. Kind of feels like it's some kind of discharge happening. Now to the real qu…

I just bought two DPA 4060s wired for Lectro servo bias. I chose against the DPA adapter system and had TA5 plugs soldered on them. Now in case I want to use them hard wired, I'd like to buy adapters. Looking at the OST power supply. Does anyone use with other mics than OST?

hey everyone, i've spent the passed few years doing and redoing my psc cart to make it more usable. i just finished up a job and started by saying "maybe i'll add a usb keyboard to my setup," which led me to taking apart my entire cart and taking a saw to it. i figured i'd try to document the process in case anyone else was using a psc cart and needed some ideas for redoing it. the way i see it there's 2 kinds of sound carts: the tall ones and the short ones. the psc cart is a tall one the way people usually have it set up. i wanted everything lower and a smaller size all around. i unfortunately dont have a picture of the original cart all assembled, b…

Hi guys, I'm trying to power a sr on a camera another way than the expensive sony type battery way. Is there a way to power a sr reciever with AA batteries? I don t have the sony type sled now and i would love to not have to buy one. Ideally a little 4 AA battery box that i could plug into the sr power plug would be the best... Any ideas? Thanks!

Hello all On my search for a new boom pole, i have come across more than a few positive reviews on K-Tek poles, here and elsewhere. I think though, that most (with the exception of one) people refer to either the Klassik or the Avalon carbon fibre series. I was interested in the KE-110CCR model, aluminum made, which roughly compares to the carbon fibre KEG-100CCR, material being the major difference. The KE-110CCR weights 822g (221g heavier than the KEG-100CCR) which is a substantial difference. According to K-Tek all other components are the same. I'd like to ask those that have used/own the KE-110CCR (if there are any around) of their opinion about this pole and if…

Hi all I have been using straddle bags for 2 x 411 Rx for a few years but am getting interested in finding an alternative. I am working on a show with a Sony XDCam 700 and the receiver on the left is blocking the LCD display, I either need to get myself a Lectro SRa or find a better mounting solution. Would like to know what works for you guys who are still sticking 2 x 411 on a camera?? Also does anyone know of a Anton Bauer type mounting plate that will fit the Sony XDCam, we are using the V lock batteries.

While on set the other day, I had something very perplexing happen. I was using my brand spankin' new COS-11D with a Senny G3 set I had recently picked up on the used market. After about 11hrs of uneventful use, I set down my bag, powering off the mixer and recorder(302 &702). When I came back about 10min later and powered everything up(RX and TX remained "on" throughout this power cycle) I found that my lav was significantly quieter. I double and triple checked that nothing had changed with the mixer/recorder, and found nothing out of place. I ended up increasing the sensitivity on the TX and everything was fine for the rest of the shoot. After doing some re…

Hi everyone. I'm looking for a new zeppelin for my KMR82i. The one I've been using is much longer than the mic and probably designed for a longer shotgun. Does anyone have any suggestions on a high quality blimp and windsock? Thanks in advance!

Does anyone know of any rental houses in the UK that would rent a complete sound package, perhaps with either a Deva 5 or an SD 788, a decent mixer, mics and cart etc? And how about rates? Is it a viable proposition to work there if I had to rent a sound package? I'm just fishing here so don't any of you blokes get nervous, I'm not about to compete in the UK market. Just yet. Thanks Mick

I have had one of my COS-11 miss develop a cable issue at the head, and I think I remember reading about a "change over" scheme spoken of here. Does anyone know if this is still happening? Cheers PS

So after calling a dozen or so places today trying to locate the new RF SMA, I struck out. Apparently PSC is waiting on a component that is back ordered from a supplier. Bummer. I was pretty pumped to get my back rigged up with the splitter and a couple of dipoles. Anyone know where there's one for sale?
