Just curious to find out how these are working for people that use them. I think I would be using the TA5 to XLR adapter more than that slot system as far as hops go but would possibly like to incorporate into my bag. Seems to make logical sense to cut my receiver count in half as far as my back is concerned. Any info, tips or help anyone has on this is much appreciated. Mike

I am looking for body belts for concealing transmitters under costumes. I have made searches online but have not found anything specific for Film & Television. I realize I could have a seamstress make some up but I am not against purchasing something ready made for convenience sake. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

So I'm close to completing a new cart, and now that I've recently added an IFB100 and a TRX900AA w STA adapter, any suggestions on best places to locate these two items? In a bag with a Fusion, these two devices can cause a bit of havoc when located near my receivers. I've done some tests with a "pocket" made of some RF shielding fabric around the TRX900, and it does indeed help block RF spray. (What seems to work just as well is to power the 900 from a different battery and clip it on my shoulder instead of located in the bag) So, what I've been thinking of doing is putting both these items in a small plastic or wood box, lining the inside with the…

Most common solutions seem to be Rode NTG-1 and Sony ECM-680s. I wanted Stereo and went with the Edirol CS-50 because it is cheaper and smaller than the too long Sony. It has selectable Width of Stereo which in the narrow position meets the wideangle of the camera. Sound quality of the Sony is better though but I thought CS-50 would be good enough. So far so good. Now I expierenced some trouble. First piano music was distorted. As the mic is capable of loud sounds I think the mic preamps in the XDcam are worse than earlier cameras from Sony. Also normal ambience were recorded at low lowel. If I raise sensity in the camera menu from -50 to -40 the white no…

They look great, but they don't close! A simple drawstring or a built in clamp, or even a folded velcro dealio would work, but the way they come there is a big 2" opening that lets air right on through. My workaround is one of those large 3" binder clips, but that hasn't been field tested. (Just got them two days ago and we've been on a stage.) For how expensive they are and how much we needed them, I'm pretty surprised at this massive oversight. Any suggestions? (I don't like to tape fuzzy things since they tend to pull out the hair and also get sticky, and of course it looks ghetto...) Dan Izen

Hey.... anybody out there use one (Yamaha 01V96 VER.2) that would care to chime in on how they like it, and how steep the get up and running curve is...... I think from all I have read, it is one heck of a console..... and at $2,000, it's a no brainer.... Not to happy with the other new console released recently... and not happy about the steep price.... Looking to replace my nice Cooper 106..... I plan to do more TV upcoming, want a better piece of gear for the job.... Before you say so, I will never use it with anything but AC.....

So up until now I've not really had a reason to play with the recording feature of my Zaxcom TRX900AA as I've used the 552 internal recorder instead. I'm heading to a friends wedding tomorrow and he asked if I would mic up the Celebrant, so I thought this would be a good opportunity to try out the recording feature of my TRX. I decided to do a couple of test runs before the wedding so whilst on location this afternoon I did some recordings to the TRX from the output of my 552, and then when I got home I took off the STA150, added my DPA4063 and mic'd myself up for 20 mins. I used Zaxconvert to transfer both files to 24/48k WAV files, but both files were unusab…

Woot.com has these Centon 32GB Class 10 SDHC cards for $25 + $5 s/h. I actually own three of these SD cards for use in my 552 and Canon T2i and am happy to report they work great. This deal ends today, so if you're in the market, you might want to jump on it soon.

So the NiCd battery pack went dead in one of my wireless home phones after years of use and I decided to make up my own 3-AA battery pack. Being a cheap bastard, I dug through various drawers and found some 5 year old Sanyo 2700 mAh NiMh's and some Eveready 1800 mAh NiMh's that were even older. I don't know how old they were but Eveready hasn't made 1800's for many years. Not only were all the batteries flat, but they would only take about 60 mAh (sixty!) before the smart charger terminated. I discharged them in the smart charger and charged them again to about 200 mAh. To make a short story shorter, after 4 or 5 complete charge discharge cycles, the Sanyo's were back to…

Hi all While I await reply from the manufacturer... I have a phonak earwig with induction neckloop which I am trying to wire to work with Sennheiser IEM receivers. Does anybody have experience with this? The cable coming from the neckloop has 3 cores (green, brown, white) and a braided shield. I need to terminate this to TRS mini.

Just curious if the day was ever saved because you happened to have a PZM mic in your bag. Also, for those of you have ever used a PZM mic--with satisfactory results--what is your favorite brand and model. (NOTE: Jeff, I have read about your aversion to using PZMs on shoots as duly noted in a prior thread.)

(I basically copied this thread from dvxuser, i figured this site would get me better questions answered) Last year I had to sell my Shure FP33 due to financial woes, and now I'm back in the market for a field mixer. Since then I have used the PSC M4 MKII and another PSC model mixer on set. I am searching for a used mixer around $600 and I have been able to find a complete PSC M4A+ setup for ~$700. The setup includes the porta brace, mixer and break away cable. I feel like the price range suits that setup just fine. The main question on my mind is what are the differences between the M4A+ and the fp33? Gotham sound quoted me $300 for a used FP33, mixer and shure bag…

Hey guys, What are your thoughts about the use of dynamic mics, instead of boom mics, in noisy locations in order to record dialogue during filming? Thanks in advance, Marco

Hello everyone, though I know this topic has been covered a number of times, I would like to bring it up again since I have a specific use and unfortunately a lower budget to work with. A tv show I work on does a lot of dialogue in cars while they speed around tracks and perform stunts, and I need to design a system for them for the next season. My thought was to get a four track recorder, with four mic pres (so a 744 is out of the question) because this needs to be compact, and also must have time code so I can sync it with my 788. I would have cos-11's hard wired to XLR going directly in so I dont have to worry about the common problems of wireless in a moving vehicle. …

Hello all, I have been unable to find out what this means in the output status of the ZaxConvert window after uncompressing files from my TRX900AA. It reads: seg031 /Volumes/Black Dove 1/ZaxcomDrop/0509245A_154648_BODEGA_031.WAV 48000Hz WARNING:(0,<Trx2WAV bad DIR Mnum in stream>) seg032 /Volumes/Black Dove 1/ZaxcomDrop/01562459_173630_BODEGA_032.WAV 48000Hz I'm using a Transcend MicroSD 4 GB class 6. In the last batch of files, I had 34 segments and the 'warning' showed up 3 times. I got the same warning when using an older SanDisk 8 GB class 2 and thought it was because of the class speed. I wasn't able to find out too much from Zaxcom as …

I am using Shure, I think, 226s or something rather, but the wire keeps failing on me so I have to get it replaced at customer service over and over. I am looking for good field/listening over ear headphones with high durability because I am always listening to music and the wire needs to be able to withstand my routines.
