After months of having this sound intermittently appear only the left channel and usually only when phantom power is engaged - I sent the unit into Zaxcom about a month ago. Unfortunately, the problem will not repeat itself at Zaxcom and they have been diligently trying to find out how to recreate whatever I have done to make this sound. A hurricane even went by their area, and the sound did not repeat for them! Maybe it only happens West of the Rockies? It usually happens when I am near a lake or stream and it takes about 1/2 hour before the sound on the left channel kicks in. It takes hours for it to go away once it kicks in. I have switched mics, cables, et…

A question for my learned colleagues; Should I, in normal circumstances, be using the low cut setting on my sanken CS3e as well as LF roll off on my mixer? (double LF Roll off?) What, if any, are the undesirable side effects?

I'm wondering if anyone knows how the XLRF<>1/8"TRSM cable (link here) for the portable Comtek 216 Transmitters is wired? I'm in the field an my cable is intermittent, and I'm trying to determine if its something I can fix with a trip to radio shack, or if I need to scramble to find a replacement ASAP. Thanks in advance! e.

Good morning/afternoon and or evening! I recently purchased an SD Lemo to XLR Male and Female Time Code cable and I am wondering if I grabbed the wrong one for the wrong purpose. I usually work with the RED Epic, because everyone and their grandma loves that camera at my school, so I would like to know if I could use the XL-LX with my 744T to that camera as well as what other cameras it can work with because I shoot with more than just the RED. Can it work with a 5/7D as well? Thanks for the replys.

Good evening to my virtual mentors, Was on a corporate gig this weekend, running my G2 in its usual position, in the front flap pouch of my portabrace, into my 302 and FR2LE. I had a Schoeps MK41 up on a combo stand, and a B6 on a coach explaining demonstrations of drill team skills. I have always struggled with my G2 and RF pops, despite scanning multiple banks, and checking the Senn website, especially as every G3 I've ever rented has been virtually trouble free. This weekend, after having read posts here about elevating receivers, I attached mine up on my shoulder harness, and had the cleanest reception ever. But much of the weekend I was kneeling down, so…

I'm currently using SMVs on set and since I use NiMH rechargeable batts, I've put my meter to "time" setting but I can't find a way to reset it to "0" when I change batteries... I've checked the manual and Lectro website but can't find the info... maybe users here ?

Howdy. I have an sd 552. I've been asked to record: 1. A jazz ensemble (singer, bass, piano) 2. A trumpet (solo - seperately) I voiced my concerns to the producer about not having mixed music before, and she said that it's not that big of a deal - if it doesn't work, she can get a recording & dub - it'll be a montage for a promo. I'd obviously like to make it sweet, but like I said, I've never recorded music before. I have: several good Sanken cos 11 lavs, a decent tram, a Sennheiser MK 416 shotgun, a Schoepps cmit 5u shotgun, and a "mic level" mic (that I've never used) - not sure how good, but I know it works. Do you have any advi…

recently had to change the frequency on one of my Lectro 210D's. It had been working great. Found a clear channel, and went and changed transmitter to same frequency. I have doubled and tripled checked that they are both on same frequency but the pilot tone light won't go green. It sounds fine if I hit the pilot tone bypass (red light) but can't seem to lock on to pilot tone? do I need to send it out for repair or is there something simple I'm overlooking.

I don't know if many people use this use this as a backup recorder on a wireless gig. It is seldom mentioned, but when you only need backup 2 tracks it is fantastically small and light. However, what does baffle me about this unit is the apparently arbitrary limit on segment (file) numbers, which is I think 250. It can take sd cards up to 16 Gb, but as anyone knows in the field, if you are on auto-load, which syncs your recorder to the camera via TC, then on docs the number of shots (and thus files) per tape can easily be 30 or more. So you can max out your sd card in terms of segments within half a dozen tapes, which might be 3 hours of recording. So what is the point of…

I was thinking about a setup that would be as compact as can be for boom op... A plug-on Tx with phantom on the boom, receiver on cart. A used old sleeping-in-a-case Senny G2 on the boom op belt for com to mixer (using the never used lav supplied with the G2s, taped on his phones). A Quadra system for both mixer to boom op coms and boom vs mix monitoring, receiver also on boom op belt. There must be something that's wrong, it seems so simple... I'm just thinking waaay lot ahead of a shoot for april 2012... well, I'm off today so that's what happens...

I don't understand why recorders are more and more recording on flashcard only. This isn't a very high end medium to store audio on I think. I really feel that flash card recording only is very tricky and not very safe at all. The nomad is a good example, I mean why do you want to record on flashcard only? How do you think about this evolution in the new recorders?

The last week, I've been on the phone with L-Com trying to order a 2.4ghz amplifier and antenna system that was recommended to me from another user, but having a few issues. Apparently the system requires a FCC license (of which I was told that it wouldn't) that I don't currently have. The tech support notified me about this and then recommended a similar system that had the same characteristics as the recommended one but was RP (reverse polarity). Now, in terms of how RF works I'm not quite sure exactly what this means and or how it affects me trying to create an antenna/amplifier system for my QRX IFB output for the cart. After reading a post from Billy S. toda…

The new adjustable right angle antennas for the D4 system and for the Quadra system are in stock at Lectro. We will provide these at no charge to owners of these systems to replace the fragile originals. These antennas have a required reverse polarity connector so they will only work on the above systems. Send me an email at larryf@lectrosonics.com with the quantity you need for your systems. Include your shipping address. The part number is AMJR915. Best Regards, Larry Fisher Lectrosonics

Trying to troubleshoot this before tomorrow - and I have a few more tests to perform, but I'm wondering if anyone has had an issue with a qrx100 (in a bag - minimal air circulation) overheating and powering off. In this case, I've got it hooked up with a host of other wireless thru a hawks woods. I'm definitely not drawing too much power - but I have this issue where suddenly everything powered off it turns off. I might need to check some new power cabling - but my quick tests result in my system (everything besides the qrx) working fine when the qrx is not powered on. I called Zaxcom, but everyone's out of the office til tomorrow, and I of course have a shoot...…

http://broadcastengineering.com/products/muxlab_hd-sdi_extender_08212011/ It's called the "Muxlab 500/700 HD-SDI CAT5 Extender Kit" and it needs power, but it looks like it can use two CAT5 cables and go 350'. If this works I'm upgrading to HD monitors instantly! All that's held me back was that I wasn't able to use CAT5 from the village... I could use the two Decimator 2s' HD-SDI pass-through jacks to tap off a nice HD picture to these and not risk bulky/heavy/expensive BNC cable. The system would be beloved by the village people since it wouldn't take any of their precious HD-SDI outs. Anyone used these or found another way to use CAT5 for HD-SDI (beside…

The switch on one of my 211s broke/is hanging on by a thread (the unit still works, just the tip of the switch is obviously about to break off). I got a replacement switch from Pro-Sound as I figure this is a repair I can probably manage myself. My question for anyone who might have done this repair (Larry, please feel free to chime in after having removed the outer shell is if I need to remove the bottom board to get the old switch out and the new one in. Looking at the replacement switch, it looks like it's held in place purely by the solder points - but I'm not entirely sure about this. Also - the replacement switch looks slightly different - it has som…

Have recently purchased a TRX 900 with STA 150 attached for a stereo camera hop. It also has the IFB and internal recorder options. The IFB is really important to me because I want to hear what's going on at the camera. Problem is this: Periodically the TRX just doesn't boot. Usually cycling the external power just once will cause it to boot. Have tried all cabling and connections for intermittent faults. None. Battery capacity doesn't seem to be an issue because once up the transmitter happily runs for another 3-4 hours on the same battery. (Also found that it happens using internal powering.) A few days ago we were about to shoot a sequence that could neithe…

Greetings everyone, Now that I've got some ways on my current sound cart build, I'll share some photos. I've been using a Jr Magliner for years and I love the set up, but it is very difficult to load and unload into my Van. The current set up was having to 'build' the cart every time, and it was starting to get old and cumbersome. So, here was my idea.. Pretty simple. Just strap on an SKB box, to a set of wheels. Based similar to the Chinhda design as a upright, it would easier to load into a truck. Simply just lay it down on the skate wheels, then pick up the bottom, lift, and roll it in like a casket. First step, buy a the SKB 16U rack. And,…
