I would love to have a R1a that can receive in hybrid mode one of my camera hop TX. That would save me having and extra TX for IFB.

As a recent convert to Lectrosonics radiomics, can anyone recommend a brand of rechargeable AA's for use with SMDB transmitters? I've tried Camlink but with mixed results so far... Thanks

Hello guys, I've another cable designed to make your equipment work for you a little bit better. More and more wireless receivers are coming with slot in options or adapters for use with full size cameras and also use them in their receiver racks, this has lead to some slightly poor design in terms of cabling, so I've designed a cable to work around these design flaws and provide a much more convenient design and operation for you, the end user. http://bluecowcables.com/product.php?id_product=120 Two of these with two SRa would be a thinking mans Lectrosonic Quadpack. - Lighter, cheaper, smaller and splittable. They would also be great for use on a cam…

Hi All (especially Deva users), My local dealer has a Remote Audio HD Caddie (not the more recent Caddie to USB adapter) for the Deva IV, V etc. that hasn't got a home. What is the advantage of using this as opposed to the generic one found in the Devas? Can it hold an SSD drive for instance or any other plus points to getting this? Thank you, Wil PS I've tried and failed to find the Deva II group on Yahoo - any ideas?

Hi all, I am new to the forums and was recommended to check it out by a friend in the industry. I am based in the UK and am looking to branch out as a freelance sound recordist. I have recently completed a 2 year course in audio engineering and production and want to explore all things sound however have a particular interest in location sound. I have some experience of this working under an experienced sound recordist for the BBC and this only inspired me more. I am looking to setting up my own kit and would really welcome any advice any of you could offer on this. I have a budget really of around £3500 max but would like to keep it to around £3000 if p…

Lectrosonics recommends this software so I downloaded a free trial. Only available for Windows. Came in handy to enter in the zip from the call sheet and have everything coordinated ahead of time. Just found a few inconsistencies with lectro block separation. Wondering if anyone has paid for the full version and if they like it.

Hi, I'm looking to put together a pretty basic kit to get started out with, definitely working with a budget though. This would be for basic ENG work, boom, 2 wireless lav's and a wireless handheld. Eventually adding recorder and TC later as needed when I can afford it. I have searched the threads and had no luck finding anyone talking about the 6 channel Shure M367, I have seen a few online selling in the 300.00 - 500.00 and I was originally considering a Wendt X5 that I could get for about 900.00. now I know the phrase "you get what you pay for" but for my immediate needs, can anyone lend some advice on the Shure vs. the Wendt? Is the shure just very limited on feature…

I recently purchased the AR788-CL8 case for my recorder/controller and have had trouble with the sides of the case being pulled in from the top/back of the case and either pressing or limiting access to the volume/data entry knobs on either side of the 788. This leads to such fun situations as locking down or triggering the data knob mid-take, resulting in erratic toggling between HP monitoring modes and sometimes accidentally arming/disarming a track or filter when I'm configuring tracks on the fly. I'm using the AH-3M3 Portabrace harness with carabiners connected to the middle cordura strap ring (as opposed to the pair at the base of the case, which tilts the rig down a…

Hey all, not sure how many people are using the cl-wifi but i thought i'd start a thread about this cause i haven't heard anything otherwise. I purchased a CL-Wifi to use with an old iphone 3gs i have to be used as a more detailed metering option and to be able to arm/disarm/rename tracks quickly on my cart setup. I haven't been able to fully utilize it as a permanent part of my setup for the following two reasons: 1. the meters have a pretty noticable lag to them. so much so that checking them while mixing is not very reliable. 2. the software seems to get lost alot. reconnecting alot, even when the phone is right next to the cl-wifi (i've te…

I usually use a Transcend 133x 16GB CF card with my 788. I bought a 4GB Kingston card a couple weeks ago, 133x "elite pro" series and it has worked fine after a few uses. I put the Kingston in yesterday, formatted, and green lights for the drives. Everything looked good to go and I was recording 1 channel at 48k. About 15-30 seconds into the take, I get a HDD warning, take will be deleted. Restarted the unit, same thing. Took out the card, problem solved. I wiped the card, wrote zeros to it, formatted again in the 788. Same thing happened. Bad card? I don't think so, as it works fine in my 5D. Transcend card still works fine. Maybe these Kingston cards jus…

Hey Guys! I saw these about two years ago at NAB, but never followed up on them. They are the QT series transmitters from a company called Q5. I know silence is golden if there are no threads here on them, but I'd like to read the bad reviews explicitly if any mixers have put them to work in the field. Are they compatible with Lectrosonics 411 receivers? Let me know. Thanks! http://www.q5x.com/products/wireless-transmitters/

Hi all, I'm looking to upgrade and get the best, most reliable SDHC for my 552. 32GB would be the goal, but would settle on 16 or 8 GB cards if the reliability increases. Fast transfer speeds are key as well (both to the card, and to my computer afterwards). I've noticed cards with lower class numbers the 552 seems to boot much slower. Thanks on advance.

So I removed the DVD-RAM disc cartridge from my PD-6 and now it wont let me open the disk drive and when I start it up it just says NO DVD-RAM DRIVE then eventually goes to the main menu, but never lets me view the hard drives and wont let me open the drive. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have any of you used this little guy? It can potentially replace 27 RU in my record rig - and about 60 pounds of gear. I would love to hear of anyone's experience with it. It looks very promising! My main concern is how it syncs with timecode or video ref.

Anyone have advice on how to change or where to find the 3.6v li-ion battery in the 788? Sound Devices say its accessible from the bottom cover - but I cannot even see a battery in there.

I'm looking for a good quality receiver that can go into the low 100mhz range. i do a good bit of work with a new aircraft company and one of the things I am often asked to do is record the sounds of the telemetry communication with the aircraft and then communication from aircraft to ground control. currently i use 2 way communication radios and just run the headphone jack into an xlr. it works, but i'd like to find something a bit better suited for both my bag and when mounting to camera. for camera mounting i've set up a bracket1 ex with velcro the strap mount. but on the other hand, the radios i use now work pretty good and they retail for around $250. and the b…

I am sure it has been discussed before but as I am in the middle of a day of post sorting out this mess, I feel I need to vent to those will hopefully understand! A third of my working life is spent in the post studio mixing my, and many others, recordings and I am noticing now more than ever the use of lav mics in 2 shot interviews with the host and subject sitting side by side both wearing omni lav mics. Often by the time it has been injested, transferred, through edit and spat out to me to mix - the channels have been summed and I am in a world of phase colouration pain! (I just made that phrase up but I quite like it!) Even with an OMF to split the channels apart…

Here's a review of Zaxcom’s ERX1TCD “IFBâ€ receivers for anyone curious about them. I own four of them, fed by a Zaxcom IFB100 audio/timecode transmitter, and have used them extensively for the past six months. I place “IFBâ€ in quotation marks because the units can be used for several other purposes, as detailed below. … Client monitor—stupid easy to use. Obvious on/off switch and volume knob. Decent audio gain into Sony 7506’s. Menu button locked out from client use. Here’s the real kicker—the receiver has an LCD time code window on the face! Anyone needing to take time code notes can be handed a unit. Backlight on the LCD isn’t perfect. That pesk…
