My issue is on Channel 1. -If i gently move the fader or gain it swings drastically up and down -It doesn't consistently happen -If I change input to pre fade it solves the dramatic rise and falls I've included video and corresponding audio files. I have tried different mics, different power(NP to hirose direct, NP to BDS to hirose, et cetera) Has anyone had the same issue? Any information is gladly appreciated. I read in a reply from a user on reddit that they sent theirs in and within a year the issue came back. (Edit: I should mention I've been told to calibrate the Fader several times. It doesn't solve th…

Hi Guys, I need to know how to wire a female XLR to Female TA5. I'm coming out of the main outputs of my SD633 (at line level) and into (two) Lectro SMDB EO/1 Transmitters (for cam hops). Anyone done this or knows the correct way?? Thanks.

Is there anyone who's using 600 ohm headset with a Zaxcom recorder? I'm thinking on getting some 2nd hand but unused Sennheiser HME26 but they are the 600ohm version and now I'm realising I've always used my Zaxcom Nova with 100ohms HD26s. Will the headphone out of the recorder be ok with that extra impedance...? Anyone used those before on a Zax recorder? Thank you

So I’ve been using a Sonosax SX-ST semi-regularly (not mine) and there’s a few things that still mystify me. Maybe some of the long time Sonosax users can enlighten me here. No output limiters? Really? I was surprised and asked Sonosax about this and was told that since it has always-on input limiters that one would never overload the output unless using a large amount of fader gain. Well then! I suspect the guys at Sonosax have never tried to mix a scene with mumbled whispers plus action even if that action is an unexpected folder slapping a desk or someone accidentally kicking a chair... when you’re adding 30dB of gain to pull out some ridiculous whisper just…

New prosumer grade Sennheiser wireless just dropped: https://www.leisuretec.co.uk/news/sennheiser-evolution-wireless-digital-ewdp Not really at all for our line of professional work. But I bet we'll be seeing a lot of these in use by other people, be they cameraman/DoPs/videographers or newbies starting out doing sound. (surely seems like a much better product than the usual Sennheiser G3 -ish types of wireless people would buy?)

Some of you might have seen it already but since I didn't find it on the forum yet I thought I might just post it. Don't know anything more than what can be found on the website. Specs look decent with RFI shield and the size of the preamp seems to be between the CMC1 and CMC6, even though the Gefell is a bit heavier. https://microtechgefell.de/mikrofon-alle#

Does anyone know the part number for the faders on a standard cl-12? I seem to recall they were ALPs faders. Hoping to order a a replacement without having to open it up first..

I've have read several posts about recovering corrupt files from cards. But i am wondering about how to deal with an accidentally formatted/erased card. I reformatted a card in my 633 and then afterward got a little worried that i did not have it backed up properly.. Luckily, i did. But i still want to know what the best method is for recovering card accidentally formatted within a device such as 633. Of course- if new files have overwritten the erased data, that is a disastrous scenario. So let's just assume the card was pulled out of service right after the format. Sorry if this has been covered- if it has, i can not find the posts. thanks, …

Hi there, Basically, I don't have much interest in microphones focused on musical instruments, but I've just looked at the specification of this microphone and thought it might be interesting to record something other than a kick drum. It seems to have a very flat frequency response with a slight boost at 10k, Distortion, THD < 1% is 156dB SPL RMS, 159 dB SPL peak, Max. SPL, THD 10% is even 164 dB SPL peak. This may be a good candidate for recording a gunshot, an aircraft engine, etc. Does anyone who uses it for PA or music recording have any comments or impressions to share?

Hi Guys, what do you think about this antenna? I am searching for a omni antenna in combination of my Wisy LFA for inside use to help with multi path reflections. I am for now running a pair of LFA. I am hesitating beetween the BETSO Bowtie (more filtered and compact) and the A1031U from Sennheiser. I have 0,5Db Loss from the RF cable i use. I will not do long runs with this omni. Thanks

I'm traveling with the CL12 more than before. Is there a case folks are using that fits snugly? Skinny hardcase prefered as it'll be riding with other equipment in a larger case. So many options but nothing seems to be off the shelf. I know this is hitting a small sample size...

A new model, the "Zoom H4essential" just got released today for US$199. Supports timecode, but only via the Atomos (formerly TCS Ltd) Ultrasync BLUE. The new Zoom H6essential (for US$299) also supports timecode via the same manner as well. Is interesting seeing even these very low end consumer products are now kinda supporting timecode too. https://www.newsshooter.com/2024/01/25/zoom-adds-three-new-models-to-its-lineup/

I'm sitting here trying to figure out why the newish Hollyland and DJI wireless systems provide both recording and transmitting simultaneously, while our wireless systems that cost thousands more are still held back by a 'Zaxcom patent'. Is it because they operate on the 2.4ghz spectrum? Zaxcom becoming lenient with lawsuits? DJI and Hollyland willing to fight off lawsuits to take market share? Don't see a ton of info on this so any thoughts are appreciated. From a biz perspective, wouldn't it be smarter for the pro level comapnies we use to provide more low cost prosumer options to keep market share? I have been hearing from too many producers and cam ops abo…

Atmos has some very reasonably priced TC boxes that can talk to (they say) cameras, phones, monitor-recorders etc on blutooth, without cables. They also have a TC box with "mini DIN" connectors for TC (Yay! Yet another esoteric TC-camera cable type!). Has anyone worked with their system? It includes video recorders that automatically upload to the cloud on stop, and editing app, etc etc. Impressive to me if it all works...!

I am about to design sound cart kits. It would require some user assembly, but be less costly. I would like to hear from sound mixers what features you would like. I am planning a narrow cart about 18" wide, and one for rack mount. It will come standard with Split handles, front locking casters, and 2 boom pole holders. Planned options include slide out shelves, cable hooks, folding wings, retractable headphone holder, Pelican LiFE Battery brackets, and monitor mount. Areas I could use input: 1) The size of the T-slot profiles. I am currently using 2550 (1x2") vertical member, & 2525 (1x1") for horizontal frames. 2) Black or Clear anodized finish (as seen i…

I like the minimalist lightweight look of the Rycote nanoshields but how are they comparing in the field? I read that early models had a handling noise issue that was possibly sorted out by new fabric? NAB 2023 seems to be showing them with the new fabric as standard. Or maybe that’s another new fabric? The Cinela piano works great but is heavy ands bit over-engineered if you ask me. The original Rycote Modular system still seems to work great… the cyclone looks ridiculous and heavy to me but I haven’t tried it so who knows. So where does this Nanoshield fit in? Does it offer the same amount of wind protection as the traditional modular system? …

This is a weird one hope i am explaining correctly. Using a cedar DNS 2 with digital i/o in the same config i have been for quite a while. Today suddenly i am experiencing +10dB at the digital output only on left channel output. All levels at digital input are equal dual mono levels and processing on screen of the dns 2 is showing equal level processing. Currently set to stereo mode “D1= / =D2”. Very odd as just used the other day with no issues. Started today upon firing it up. Wondering if anyone has an ideas.

Would a passive antenna setup, something like the betso bow ties work well in a big with lectro DSR4 and a SRc if you’re using multiple blocks?

Hello everybody, since december Aaton released a new firmware for X3 (Cantar X3 and Mini) to record in 32 Bits. 24 bits is usually plenty enough but it means a greater headrooms for screams maybe. What are your thoughts on 32 bit recording? Anybody already tried it on a full feature/series workflow ? I wonder if picture editors are ready to receive 32 bits Audio. It's no problem with Pro tools though. Thanks and happy new year to everybody. …

I have a Nagra IV-SJ and a Nagra IV-D that operate normally mechanically and play back OK, but neither of them record. Input signals and Reference tone show on the meter. They were fully operational last time they were used but they have not been turned on for some years. I don't have the equipment or skills to troubleshoot. I do have the Instruction and Service Manuals, Schematic Drawings and Technical Specifications. Any suggestion for someone who would repair these recorders? I am in the Los Angeles/Ventura area.
