I just found out that the COS-11D Lav I ordered from B&H (Here) for my Lectro LMa transmitter is a RM version (9dB Attenuated). Apparently all pre-built mics from Sanken are RM versions. I seem to be getting good levels, but will I regret not having that 9dB down the road? Has anyone had any issues either way?

Hey Everyone, I have a job coming up where I have to mount a Lectro SR onto a RED cam for a wireless feed. I know some of you are using the D4 with the Red. How are you mounting it? I looked and there is no good spot to place it that won't cover a connector or be in the camera op's way. I looked at the BEC Group's website to see if they made a metal bracket of some sort that might work, but to no avail. Just wondering if you all knew of someone that made a wireless holder for this purpose. It looks like I could maybe use a ROWI clamp but interfacing the thread on the clamp with the wireless is the trick. Does anyone just thread directly into the holes o…

I just received a new windcover for a Cub 01 to beta test. This product is being made by Bubblebee. I believe it will be imported through Plus 24 the Sanken importer. Met the Bubblebee gang, Poul and Kathrine at NAB this year, they stopped by the RAMPS party at the end and I have stayed in touch with them. The cover has a elastic band to hold it on the Cub and it also has a small red dot stitched in the front so you know which way the mic is pointing. The band seems very tight so it is not going to fall off. It is smaller than the factory windscreen and seems to offer much more wind protection than the factory windscreen. I have not put it through the works…

Apologies if this has been discussed before, had a search and couldn't find anything. I like the look of the Zax ZFR100/200 for an alternative to radio mic'ing. Is there anything else out there that i can plug a cos-11 or B3/6 into? Without a power adaptor that's the same size as the recorder? Timecode would be nice but not a deal breaker.

After 6 weeks of watching my beautiful Deneke TS3 EL crash to the floor/sidewalk/road/puddle. Being glared at by the 1st AD when I need to change batteries in it. After 6 weeks of watching my two ACL 203's have their expensive cables yanked/plugged in the wrong BNC ports/complained about by the DOP's for adding weight. Double and triple checking my 788 display with the slate and the camera timecode with the complete and utter disinterest of the entire camera department. With the minimal rental fee for these 3 items, the mental energy wasted managing batteries and damage control for what is truly a known problem. The problem being that we have stable timecode an…

Hi, I'm building a cart and need some power distribution. Thinking in maximum flexibility and weight control, I thought of using a DBSv4u as the power distributor. I'm using a Fusion, mix 8 and Oktopack. All running, consumes 3Ah far less than the 5Ah maximum power that the unit can handle. Any thoughts on the Idea?

It seems as though this problem applies to all body worn transmitters (in my case I am using the Lectrosonics 400UM's)- that the body blocks RF. I try to put the transmitter on the side of the body as a general rule so the receiver can "see" the antenna. However as we all know, putting it on the side is not always possible so it either goes in the front pocket (better but visually seldom acceptable unless the wearer has baggy trousers) or on a belt/ trousers or skirt in the small of the back (not so good). This is where I pick up problems. Obviously in close proximity that is never an issue but I do a lot of "walk and talk" interviews so there is often distance involved…

Started a new show in a few weeks that will have the Zaxcom being worn in a waist pouch by camera op. I am just curious what everyone is using.

probably not a necessity for most production work but if there was ever a need to get the antennae higher than a readily portable mast would allow, how about 1 of these: http://www.helikites.com/ I have no link with the company. I am not endorsing the product. YAMV (your altitude may vary ;-). atb, dan.

My new cart in Desert Mode. Worked like a charm is some VERY rough terrain. Crew is Schavaria Reeves as Utility and Jorge Adrados, Boom. Location is on Fuerteventura in the Canary Islands. Note the street wheels are still attached. The desert wheels mount over the existing wheels and casters.

Ran across this product while shopping for cat5 cable. It's a set of four channels of cat5 rolled up into one easy to wrap cable, targeted at, you guessed it, remote production/multi-media solutions. $3/ft makes it a bit pricey, but perhaps convenience wins over price here. Gepco CTS4504HDX

Anyone who uses this mount for broadcast cameras ? I'm trying to figure out if it's better to use this kit (which comes with all the windjamming gear) or the Lyre with CCA which seems more simple (less parts to assemble or to lose) but hasn't got all the wind protection in the kit. Any pictures of your setup ? I'd like to mount a KMR81 on a Sony 800 cam. There is pictures of all the parts on the Rycote website but I can't find one with the CC mount in use with the RUCK kit; trying to guess which part I'd have to use; all the hardware or just a few parts....? RUCK: http://www.rycote.com/products/universal_camera_kit/ Lyre mount + CCA: http://www.ryc…

After months of having this sound intermittently appear only the left channel and usually only when phantom power is engaged - I sent the unit into Zaxcom about a month ago. Unfortunately, the problem will not repeat itself at Zaxcom and they have been diligently trying to find out how to recreate whatever I have done to make this sound. A hurricane even went by their area, and the sound did not repeat for them! Maybe it only happens West of the Rockies? It usually happens when I am near a lake or stream and it takes about 1/2 hour before the sound on the left channel kicks in. It takes hours for it to go away once it kicks in. I have switched mics, cables, et…

A question for my learned colleagues; Should I, in normal circumstances, be using the low cut setting on my sanken CS3e as well as LF roll off on my mixer? (double LF Roll off?) What, if any, are the undesirable side effects?

I'm wondering if anyone knows how the XLRF<>1/8"TRSM cable (link here) for the portable Comtek 216 Transmitters is wired? I'm in the field an my cable is intermittent, and I'm trying to determine if its something I can fix with a trip to radio shack, or if I need to scramble to find a replacement ASAP. Thanks in advance! e.

Good morning/afternoon and or evening! I recently purchased an SD Lemo to XLR Male and Female Time Code cable and I am wondering if I grabbed the wrong one for the wrong purpose. I usually work with the RED Epic, because everyone and their grandma loves that camera at my school, so I would like to know if I could use the XL-LX with my 744T to that camera as well as what other cameras it can work with because I shoot with more than just the RED. Can it work with a 5/7D as well? Thanks for the replys.

Good evening to my virtual mentors, Was on a corporate gig this weekend, running my G2 in its usual position, in the front flap pouch of my portabrace, into my 302 and FR2LE. I had a Schoeps MK41 up on a combo stand, and a B6 on a coach explaining demonstrations of drill team skills. I have always struggled with my G2 and RF pops, despite scanning multiple banks, and checking the Senn website, especially as every G3 I've ever rented has been virtually trouble free. This weekend, after having read posts here about elevating receivers, I attached mine up on my shoulder harness, and had the cleanest reception ever. But much of the weekend I was kneeling down, so…

I'm currently using SMVs on set and since I use NiMH rechargeable batts, I've put my meter to "time" setting but I can't find a way to reset it to "0" when I change batteries... I've checked the manual and Lectro website but can't find the info... maybe users here ?
