Sorry I am a Lectro novice here in the UK. Could someone explain why the 200b/c transmitter models are not compatible with the new SR receivers? I know the new generation are digital hybrid but they have various compatibility modes? I assume it is compounder related but have been unable to find a definitive answer. Cheers

hi all, i had this weird issue with my 788t yesterday and today. during recording an error message comes up saying "take deleted" from both the CF and the hard drive. thankfully, the dvd ram burner is still working and recording properly. Another message comes up saying something like "hardware drive warning" i assume I'm sending this back to SD..anyone have anything like this?

Talking with a producer about a doco shoot next summer that will be following an endurance cyclist during the course of a long distance race. Radio mics may not be an option because of the hours that the cyclist will be on the bike (over 12 at any one time), so I wouldn't get a chance to change batteries during the race. I'm thinking that something like an MKH70 may be a good option for micing as we will be based on support vehicles the majority of the time. I love the range of that mic and can see it coming in very handy in this situation. As I've never done sports work before, I'm wondering if I'm overlooking anything that a more seasoned sound person would spot im…

Any Cameo users know where I can find the pin configuration for the "Aux AES out" db-25 pin connector on the back of the Zaxcom Cameo mixer ? I assumed it was just a duplicate of the main AES out, but when I use the cable harness I had built for that output on the Aux output, it's not working. Theres also nothing in the Cameo user manual about the AUX AES output.

In my rig right now consisted of 744T recorder and a Mixpre 2 channels. I mostly record to one track and at most 2 tracks for outdoor interviews. Just got an offer to do a short doc film and the director want me to use all 4 tracks to capture ambiances. My question is should I upgrade to 442 mixer or just get another Mixpre and save some money? Yes I know about the battery change and such? thanks for your opinions

I think I know the answer to my own question, but I am looking for a little real-world confirmation. Does the SDI output on an XDCam (f800) carry all 4 channels of audio or just the 2 being monitored? I have scoured the manual and I can't seem to find the answer.

I have a couple of UCR 201s One is ver 2.0 and one is 4.0 The ver 2.0 I am seeing no setup screen on the menu or no exit screen. The unit works fine as far as changing freqs but seems to be missing pages in the menu. Is this because it is a earlier model or does it needs service ? ( I did buy the unit used ) I see posts from senator posting "did you try the secret master reset " Is there such a thing? If so could you please pm me with the secret or any other ideas on this unit Thanks so much Tom Maloney

About to shoot in northern Quebec with a Deva IV at very cold temperatures ranging from -10 celsius to -30 celsius (probably up to -40 with the wind chill). Wondering if anyone has had any experience with the Deva in extreme cold? How does the touchscreen fare?

Hello everyone, I'm in a bit of a tough situation. I'm on a gig in Mexico City right now and I have a rented mixboard, it's an 8-channel Soundcraft (don't laugh...) and I've got a few scratchy faders that cut out sometimes when moving the fader up and down. Usually, I'd have my technician back at my studio fix it by cleaning it, but I unfortunately don't have that luxury at this exact moment in time. Do you guys know how I can clean these faders to get rid of the scratchiness and drop-outs? I forget if alcohol can't be used at all. Thanks in advance! - Ryan

Many people fall for sales pitches of the latest, greatest cable, mic, sample rate, or more of operation without actually testing these claims out. Ethan Winer posted a condenced version of a workshop about audio myths. It's an hour long, but it captured my attention and I couldn't turn it off. If you're working maybe let this play in the background and tune in when you hear something interesting. I think it's important to catch yourself when your mind is coloring what your ears are hearing. I encourage you to get zen whth yourself and let your ears guide your audio decisions, not your mind.

My battery dealer just gave me some new 9volt Lithium batteries to try out. These may have been out for a while but I have not seen them. Has any tried or used any of these? Maybe Larry has tested these and can comment. Thanks, Whit

Hello. was wondering if anyone had paired an Ambient UMP http://www.ambient.de/produkte/mikrofonspeis/ump/ump_e.html with a zaxcom trx900 to make a wireless boom setup? specifically if there is any rf interference from the zaxcom into the power supply. i sent an email to Ambient, but sadly their zaxcom systems are in the states being upgraded and they hadnt yet tested the combo out. the UK distributor doesnt have one in stock but i could get one sent over for a demo, but as i might have to get specially made up cables, thought i'd see if anyone has tried the setup out. any alternative suggestions are welcome as well. i hear the arietc pico48 works well, but i …

I just wrapped on three days of three camera news magazine interviews. My 552 works great for sending audio to all the cameras and recording mp3 for transcript. To send to three cameras I needed a 10pin hirose snake for A cam, XLRs for B cam, and TA3s for C cam. I also could only monitor A and B camera. I suppose I could route C cam into an unused input and PFL to check it. It would be nice if there were a box that I could route the signal to 3 or 4 cameras and get monitor returns of each. I could set my 552 to monitor A and use the box to switch the camera returns to the desired monitor. Or does this already exist?

Not sure how many of you know about these already, but I thought I'd post about it anyway with some pics for those that do not as I think this is a very good solution for any that have been looking. I bought a Sennheiser MKH-416 last year and like many of us newbies dabbling in the DSLR video and audio world I started with the Rode NTG-3 as a first shotgun mic. When I decided to upgrade to the 416 and sold the NTG-3 I was sad to see the storage case that the Rode came with go. For those that dont know the Rode NTG-3 comes with a very nice aluminum, pipe bomb looking, rubber gasket sealed storage case. There is nice squishy black foam inside the barrel and in the end…

One of my big purchases for 2012 will be a second SRa receiver and two more SMQVs. My current SRa is on block 21, and here in northern NJ I’ve found block 21 to be incredibly vacant. I’ve used it all over NJ, NYC and Philly, and never had any problems with interference (of course I always scan the frequencies first.) It will be used in a bag holding 2 SRa’s (with a Lectro Quad Pack) and a Nomad 6 which (surprise, surprise) I don’t have yet. So why shouldn’t I buy another SRa on the same block?

Had my block 26 411a shut down by itself. Was connected to BDS system with no battery in the unit. Tried to turn unit on with the units on/off switch. Unit would power up and then just shut down. Cycled switch again and got same thing. During it's power down, could read "channel not selected". Finally unit would stay powered up, but there was full RF meter and none of my transmitters were on. Did a scan and very high RF was on my channel, so I moved to the other side to get a clear no RF channel. While on the old channel, any touch of the unit's top produced junk to show up on the mixer which sounded like static. With new channel nothing happened to the mixer with clear s…

I just bought a used 442 that I want to use with my DR-680. Basically, I am planning on sending 4 direct outs from the 442 tracks to four of the DR-680 channels and then sending a mix from the main XLR outs on the 442 to the last two channels on the 680. I was wondering if anyone who is using this combination of gear could share how they are using it and also if they are recording on the DR-680 to stereo pairs or mono files. I would like to record to 4 mono tracks for the direct outs and a stereo pair for the mix, but I don't think that is possible on the DR-680. As for monitoring, are you sending the direct outs from the DR-680 back into the 442 and monitoring t…

EDIT- so this was basically already answered in many other threads, but I'd still appreciate any input! Hey all, so this being my first thread I need to ask for some (what I would consider important) suggestions/advice on getting my kit together. A major thing to consider is my goal to be a career boom op (please spare any discouragement, I'll get there). I currently own just enough to get by (AT8035, Fostex FR2-LE, boom, shock, zep, etc.) so I'm looking to expand my list within the next month, the thing is I'm at a bit of an impasse. I only ever mix when I'm a OMB, which is usually only on student films or stuff that I'm barely getting paid for, so with t…

New ERX1TCD: questions ... Just got my unit and to test it, I plugged my IFB100 (TA5 connector-audio in) into the headphones phones plug of my mixer to check if I could get audio into the ERX. All I get is kind of variable sound through a morse code effect, so to say. Weird. Also, what would be the ideal setting for outputting TC on one channel to a Canon 5D DSLR ? I can see, in the menus, "0.125 volts (D5)" ; is the "D5" for the 5D ? (see my settings below). What I'd like to do is send both TC and audio on the Canon 5D. I'll let you my settings now, so maybe someone can lead me to what I'm doing wrong(?) : Max Volume: 23dB TC …

Hey all, I have looked both here and online and can't find anything... I was reading the latest 'Sound & Picture', having a look at the article about Stuart Wilson, the mixer of 'War Horse', an excellent read. Anyway, I noticed his antennas, shark fin type, but with just the actual poles. I read he uses audio LTD wireless, but didn't find any audio LTD antennas, so I'm just curious what his antennas are, as I've never seen them before. Here's a link to the periodicle, which is excellent. Thanks! J
