Hi there, I have a Micron transmitter (TX700B) with a 6 pin 'lemo' mic input. I would like to turn it into the wireless connection between my 416 mic and my bag and therefore need it to power the 416 with 48v. If anyone knows how i might go about building such a cable, any advise would be much appreciated. I know the cable can be bought but im feeling a little sick at the cost and anyway, it would be cool to build it myself. Many thanks in advance, Doug

Just wanted to announce the release of an iPhone and iPad app I've been working on, Sound Report Writer. You can download directly at the link below (should be searchable sometime later today) for $20. You can also see a product demo at www.inaudiblelabs.com/products.html http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/sound-report-writer/id492004803?ls=1&mt=8

One of my big purchases for 2012 will be a second SRa receiver and two more SMQVs. My current SRa is on block 21, and here in northern NJ I’ve found block 21 to be incredibly vacant. I’ve used it all over NJ, NYC and Philly, and never had any problems with interference (of course I always scan the frequencies first.) It will be used in a bag holding 2 SRa’s (with a Lectro Quad Pack) and a Nomad 6 which (surprise, surprise) I don’t have yet. So why shouldn’t I buy another SRa on the same block?

I would love to find a hard case in which I could store my Petrol/788/CL8/4xSRa bag. Something like a pelican but can't find one. Something like a large lunch box. Any ideas? Pascal

the challenge, easily control levels of tracks 7+. i've got a job starting tomorrow where i've got 6 talent and boom. they need iso's while mixing hop to camera. my first solution was to stick a mic pre in my bag and run into my return 1/2 for tracks 7/8. luckily i had a few ta5 cables made so i could work with those ta5 connectors: ta5f to female 1/8"(camera return), ta5f to dual xlrf and ta5f to ta3f. so i had some options of to ways to get into those additional channels. but then i remembered i had an emergency that I had in my 302 kit, which has ta3m connectors. so for those of us who are looking for some sort of POT/fader for the additional channels t…

Here are the circumstances: I have several Lectros in block 24 as well as camera hops in Block 26. I want to re-freq a Zaxcom TRX900 & RX900 set into a legal block. I could also upgrade the receiver to stereo at the same time if that'll be useful. As I'm considering my upgrade avenue, here are some useage possibilities: I may use this Zax wireless on the cart along with the Block 24 Lectros. I may use this Zax wireless in the bag along with Block 24 Lectros and Block 26 camera links. I may use this Zax wireless in the bag as a camera link along with the Block 24 lectros. My inclination is to re-freq the Zax to Block 22. Block 21 is usab…

Okay, so I just wanted to through this out there to see that you all though. I have been looking for a good and less expensive than the NP-1 route to power the gear in my bag and have though of something interesting. But before I go trying something dumb and breaking my new toys, I thought Id post all about it here and see what you guys came back with. So here we go: One of my deepest passions in life has always been photography and pretty much all areas of it at that. The area in particular that got me thinking was that of on location portraiture. Specifically the power sources photographers need and use to power profressional studio strobes. In my on location port…

Here's a link to the Audioroot cLINK 2.4Ghz camera hop: http://www.audioroot.fr/audioroot-wireless-audio-camera-link-product-42.html I'm not sure of the various attempts to use the 2.4Ghz as the frequencies for a camera hop because of all the 'other' types of kit trying to use these frequencies including the 2.4Ghz video senders that would be sitting a few inches away! Apart from that I think it looks fantastic! Wil

Hi guys I came across the new timecode buddy system which is due for release shortly. Thought I'd bring it to the forums attention for discussion. Amongst other applications, it looks like a brilliant add-on for the SD 552. It will also interface with an ipad/ iphone with a free iOS app which is a pretty cool addition! What I'm really thrilled about it the fact that the master unit has a backlit display screen. Something that's been lacking in other small time code units. If it delivers all the web site promises, I think it will become a rather popular bit of kit to own. http://timecodebuddy.com/ Check it out!

I just got 2 sanken COS-11's from Gotham Sound. I also picked up some Hush Lavs as well. I've seen them used many times before, however, when I tried to mount one for the first time yesterday, it didn't seem to effect the clothing noise at all. I wanted to find out what the best way to mount the hush lavs would be. I'm using topstick and moleskin.

I just got a used Rycote Windshield Kit 4 and it doesn't have an xlr cable, however, would it still work well if I got the con box cable? I know it will work, but does it attach to the kit 4 easily?

Just came across these- they look useful for IFB duties / camera hop and they're cheap! http://www.creative.com/emu/products/product.aspx?pid=18609 Only drawback I can see is the internal battery. The white shiny aspect may comfort directors/producers as it's similar to apple products... Anyone used them?

Hey all, My nomad 8 will be here monday and I am trying to put together a good bag powering system. What I have so far is this: Remote Audio BDSv4U 2x IDX NP-L7s 68w IDX JL-2Plus 2ch multi format charger NP-1 cup misc power cables from BDS I like this setup, but I am wondering if anyone is using different setup's. This setup is about $1100. I think it's kind of silly the charger costs about as much as 2 of the batteries, has anyone found more economical charging options for these? Are there more efficient weight/power ratio batteries out there than these? I will eventually be running at minimum the nomad 8, 2 QRX100's, probably a co…

I'm on set now with several Lectro UCR401 receivers, all being powered by the wall wart adapter in a power strip. When I cycle power for the cart(leaving all the power switches on the 401's in the "on" position), all receivers except one come back just fine. The one problem child powers back up with a black screen, but seems to function properly. Is this a sign that something is wrong with the receiver? As of now it is purely "cosmetic" and is fixed by cycling the power switch on the unit itself, but is this the start of something worse? I haven't called lectro yet, I wanted to check here first... Best, -Travis (P.S. not sure why the pic uploaded…

I just got my new van back () from Third Coast Vans (an Austin aftermarket place) just now and I'm really happy with how it turned out. As I didn't need all that cargo space and wanted to be able to tote my family around (and other folk) safely. I had them wall off the front half and put a removable bench with safety belts. They insulated and carpeted the interior (including the sliding door) and it's a lot quieter up front now. The wall is heavy plywood that I can hang stuff off of in the back. They added floor and wall hooks so there's plenty of ratchet spots. There's enough room for my carts and space on the walls for c-stands, etc. There's also plenty of l…

Not sure how many of you know about these already, but I thought I'd post about it anyway with some pics for those that do not as I think this is a very good solution for any that have been looking. I bought a Sennheiser MKH-416 last year and like many of us newbies dabbling in the DSLR video and audio world I started with the Rode NTG-3 as a first shotgun mic. When I decided to upgrade to the 416 and sold the NTG-3 I was sad to see the storage case that the Rode came with go. For those that dont know the Rode NTG-3 comes with a very nice aluminum, pipe bomb looking, rubber gasket sealed storage case. There is nice squishy black foam inside the barrel and in the end…

hi, I have a job coming up with 14 wireless, I will be renting the wireless so I'm not 100% sure of the blocks yet, but in the interim I'm wondering the best way to plan out the frequencies for the wireless so I have a plan of attack during the set up . I need 2 usable freqs per unit. Advice or tips welcome. Thanks James

It appears that on the Sony F900 that the mini hp out is mono only and there is no switch or menu option to make it stereo. Can anyone confirm this? I know that the 5 pin out offers stereo but I am interested if possible in making the mini out stereo. Thanks, Andy

I have to feed two Sony EX-1's with my 442. My question is: Do both 442 outputs (the XLR and the TA3M) work simultaneously? If so, I can just use an adaptor cable for the B camera, right? If not, how can I do this? Thanks for any input you guys can offer. Rachel

Okay, believe me I do realize this is probably a moot point, but since I dont have much experience in this field I wanted to consult those that did before I make this swap. I just purchased a Rycote WindShield Kit 4 from B&H for my Sennheiser MKH-416 and as Im sure you all know it comes with the standard Grey WindJammer (Dead Cat, etc). Now, where I have intentions of shooting will mostly be in dimly lit areas, large warehouses (for which I might not even use the 416), or outdoors at night, around working artists who probably wont appreciate any distractions. So I was thinking that a black WindJammer might be just that little bit less distracting and hopefully h…

Came across this in TV Tech magazine and checked out the specs. Looks incredibly good for anybody who wants high def (or SD) pix for post editing and mixing, without having to put any stress on their DAW's computer. And B&H has it for $945. New. Nothing else needed except an SS drive and a cable. Plugs into your DAW's 9-pin port and emulates a VTR. Thoughts? Anybody have hands-on? http://www.blackmagic-design.com/products/hyperdeckstudio/
