Have any of you used this little guy? It can potentially replace 27 RU in my record rig - and about 60 pounds of gear. I would love to hear of anyone's experience with it. It looks very promising! My main concern is how it syncs with timecode or video ref.

I am sure it has been discussed before but as I am in the middle of a day of post sorting out this mess, I feel I need to vent to those will hopefully understand! A third of my working life is spent in the post studio mixing my, and many others, recordings and I am noticing now more than ever the use of lav mics in 2 shot interviews with the host and subject sitting side by side both wearing omni lav mics. Often by the time it has been injested, transferred, through edit and spat out to me to mix - the channels have been summed and I am in a world of phase colouration pain! (I just made that phrase up but I quite like it!) Even with an OMF to split the channels apart…

Hello everyone. I am brand new to this forum, and I must say it's a wealth of information. One of my regular gigs is recording podium speeches outside. What I'm using on the podium is 2 MK41 capsules. The problem I'm running into is wind protection. Most of you would probably tell me to slap a windjammer on the capsules and call it a day. I wish it was that easy... It has to look good on camera, too. JW, any thoughts? Thanks! - Ryan

I got a rig consisting of a Sound devices 302 mixer, a K-tech (internally coild) boom with a Mkh 60 and a Ew G3 stereo hop. This has worked well for me until just recently when I arrived in this town where it just seems there is something in the air disturbing my camera hop. I tried loads of different frequencies, I scanned the frequecy band, I got a chart to avoid all the local Tv-channels, but still there is something their, disturbing the frequencies now and then. The last test I did I walked to the "edge" of good reception (where interference started to kick in) and unplugged my boom. I deffenitly experience less interference without my boom plugged in, e…

I have one of those Rode 10foot boom poles as an antenna mast that is mounted to my PSC-style cart. I love that it collapses small and can get pretty tall. I hate that the collars often jam and are a pain to free up. I keep my cart short enough that it can stand up in a cargo van, so a painter's pole would either need to be removed, or I would have to chop it down a lot. Any other cheap boom poles out there worthy of mast duty? I'm thinking some aluminum knock off or something. I didn't see anything great on Ebay, though there were some no name clones.

Hi, I'm buying a DPA lavalier, model 4061, to use it with a lectro transmitter, LM. I didn't find on the dpa site the reference of the exact adapter. To this moment this is the closest suspect: the DAD3056, http://www.dpamicrophones.com/en/products.aspx?c=Item&category=138&item=24115. Although it is made for the 4063 and the 4067, not the 4061. Could anyone shine a light on this matter? Are there any good alternatives for the DPA official adapter - which I personally find quite expensive?

These mics are new to me, so this might be normal, but when I plug the CMIT into its 48v power supply, I hear what can best be described as an electronic fart noise. I haven't done a lot of testing, but I think it does it with both mics. Anyone?

Hello all! Any ideas for a big, heavy-duty duffle bag for cold/rainy weather gear? Water resistant would be nice, but not necessary. American made, if that's still possible. Travel capable. Hockey bag, maybe?

I recently purchased the AR788-CL8 case for my recorder/controller and have had trouble with the sides of the case being pulled in from the top/back of the case and either pressing or limiting access to the volume/data entry knobs on either side of the 788. This leads to such fun situations as locking down or triggering the data knob mid-take, resulting in erratic toggling between HP monitoring modes and sometimes accidentally arming/disarming a track or filter when I'm configuring tracks on the fly. I'm using the AH-3M3 Portabrace harness with carabiners connected to the middle cordura strap ring (as opposed to the pair at the base of the case, which tilts the rig down a…

Anyone have advice on how to change or where to find the 3.6v li-ion battery in the 788? Sound Devices say its accessible from the bottom cover - but I cannot even see a battery in there.

What do you think of them? Even if Roland might not be the first company to produce a binaural microphone headphones, it is probably one of the most user friendly package that can be attached to the new Roland R26 or their previous ones (R 09...). Of course I imagine that they are very sensitive to wind noise, and not for every day shoot but low profile (I would not like to carry a dummy head all day long with me) + monitoring at the same may give interesting sonic options...

To all those with past experiences with the original HERO, you probably roll your eyes at the thought of using them, I apologise if this thread has already been created, but I would love some feedback on the GoPro HERO2's 3.5mm audio input, i'm hopeful at the prospect. Thanks guys. Matt http://gopro.com/hd-hero2-cameras/

In in the "What to look for in headphones?" thread, imagist notes the same problem I am having with the HD 25 II, and the same that Simon B experienced with HD250 II. -The point of connection between the cable and earcup becoming intermittent- As well as the seemingly random loses of signal, it is also guaranteed to lose signal when a loud transient is received (eg a clapper board, a shout). I feed my cans lower volume than anyone I know. It is always the left earcup and it is fixed by applying small pressure to the connector in a forwards direction. I otherwise love my HD25s and was ready to buy a spare pair when this started some moths back. Ima…

I just loaded up my new Petrol 601 with my 3 211 block 27 units and my 788T and I am greeted by some serve RF spray. The Scan with 788T powered on is same whether it is powered from common power source (BDS Box) or the 788T is powered from internal battery all 3 of my 211 block 27 units show similar scans as well. I didn't think the 788T had any RF spray and hadn't experienced any with same set up in my larger Petrol PEGZ-2 bag Any thoughts?

Hey Everyone, I have been trying to find an affordable solution for monitors for my new flightcase cart. I am curious as to what most people here use? I have been thinking about something like these. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/766059-REG/Blackmagic_Design_HDL_SMTVDUO_SmartView_Duo_Rackmountable_Dual.html I mean I'm not to worried about the quality of the video as long as I can see the frame and the action (im not pulling focus on these things!). What are some of your thoughts on must haves for soundcart video monitors? Tuner? 16:9? SDI input? I appreciate the input! -Chase

At the moment I'm looking at pricing up some packages for quite a long term international documentary job covering events in North and South America (Florida and Sao Paulo look likely), Europe (France, and at least one other) and Asia (possibly China and Japan). Ideally we're looking at buying rather than renting. Because of the uncertainty of locations I'm wondering whether I'll have to use a wide band wireless system or not (I think the only options are Wisycom and Sennheiser 3000 / 5000). I'd ideally like to use a Zaxcom system as a camera hop to reduce the number of transmitters/receivers, but this may not be feasible as I'll be restricted to one …

Hey All, Having an issue with poweing up my Fusion. Everything was working fine, but then all of a sudden the internal NP1 stopped working at all, though I can still power through the external power input. Is this a problem that any of you have come across? Its after hours, so I'll try Zaxcom tomorrow, but If there's anything I should try, I'd love to hear it. E.

Hi All, Just replaced my 211 camera hops with the Lectro D4. The D4 is great but its stepping all over my Comtek 216 and creating a bunch of hiss. I retuned the Cometek and moved it farther away from the D4 transmitter where it is in the bag. I got something that's tolerable but not the nice clear signal I had before going to the D4. When I get a moment I'll go to a different frequency on the D4 transmitter and see if that helps. I scanned for open frequencies on my talent 211s and didn't notice any terrible stuff coming into them from the D4 but it seems like I don't have as much range as I had before and was getting random small hits. I am in a location I'v…

Hi guys. I'm a sound engineer from Sweden and this is my first thread in the forum. A really great forum with amazing information from you all! Good work Jeff! I'm about to buy a 9v charger and AA charger for my TX and RXs. I have heard many good things about the IPower for 9v and PowerX for AAs. The PowerX is available in Europe but the IPower isn't. Is it possible to change the power chord if you but it from US? regards Benny
