Im currently on a show in which one of our 788T's is not creating a new daily folder. We have the file structure set to MID LEVEL, but it wont create a new folder. It is #2 in a chain of 4 units linked via c link. 24/48K 29.97 NDF. All the machines are set to the same settings. Firmware 2.15 Any ideas? Rob

Since there are occasionally very old (20+ years) Schoeps mics for sale (like here), I was wondering if anybody has experienced difference in the sound quality. Things like noise and high frequency behavior. One time I heard an older Schoeps hypercardiod and I had the idea it was a bit 'dull' sounding.

Hey guys, I've landed my first movie and I'm pretty excited. I'm now in need of a duplex cable and wanted to know what suggestions/experiences you all may have with the different available models. The PSC? The Remote Audio? Problems? Ease of use for the boom operator? Durablity? Noise? I read up a little here and there, looking for a previous thread..but didn't see much. And I'd never try to manufacture one like Jeff did, so don't suggest that. Rachel

I was checking out the heavy bags post, and thought I would share my recently put together light weight bag. It's great for direct to camera Documentary / Reality style mixing. I replaced my 442 for the substantially lighter Mix-pre D. Channel 1 is my boom. Channel 2 the 411A RX. Channel 3 and 4 from the SR RX. D4 gets AES signal from Mix-Pre D. D4 acts as Camera hop and IFB feed (director gets Quadra IEM portable receiver) and I loose one more piece of equipment (comtek TX) from my bag. Petrol PS607 bag is just the right size. Whole bag runs off of a battery conveniently located under the mixer. Some days I need t…

sitting here playing around with a Lectro 411 and a Sound Devices 552 mixer. (both new to me) Mixer is set for mic level input. Lectro 411 has output settings from -50 to +5 dp. Is there a recomended output selection on the 411 that works best with a mic input selection on a 552? Or have mixer set for line level input and have output level of 411 set a +4db ? Thanks

Hi, we have introduced another IFB100 into our system to run as the second voting transmitter. Is it fine to leave the all the ERX1's enabled for IFB voting whilst using one transmitter only? Thanks

Well, looks like I got a great deal deal on a bazook.. a Sennheiser 815T. Now, in addition to doing push-ups so I can actually boom with the mic, I'm gonna be shopping for a Kleintuchel-XLR adapter and obviously a suspension mount and windshield that are up to the task of housing this monster. Any other suggestions than Rycote? Rycote would probably be great but it'll end up costing several times the price of the mic.

I'm working a reality show and we had three 788T's w/ CL-8 all in bags with six UCR411a's in each bag. Each bag has BDS w/ two NP-1's. I'd say that's a pretty good load in a bag.. Now that the show got picked up, we have Cantar X2's replacing SD, and two more UCR's for each bag. I'm a smaller framed guy and this is a motherload in a bag for me, even using my Versaflex harness. I'm wondering if the Cantar upgrade was worth it since we're just running 8x 411's in every bag(wireless boom w/416's). It wasn't my first time working with the Cantar, but my first time working with it in a bag. I must say I think it's just a bit too big for me to feel comfortab…

Maybe I'm missing something but I cant get my 788T to save input 2 routed to track R pre fade. It keeps jumping back to post fade.. Any ideas? posting here while I wait for SD to get back to me.. Seem to have to go through my routing menu a few times to make sure everything saves correctly. Maybe I just need more sleep!?

I was working on a very humid set yesterday, with 3 actors, director and 5 crew crammed in a room about 10 x 10 with furniture etc (standard drill for low budg drama). Camera was the Epic, and as you might expect it was "panting" quite loudly (yes, the actors noticed) when we weren't rolling (and still pretty loud when we were). At one roll I noticed a new noise, previously masked by the Epic hurricane, my CS3e was making the low grumble that says it's not happy about the ambient moisture. I couldn't get out of the room to get another mic (slider rig blocked door, kid actor on the edge of non-cooperation, behind schedule--you know the drill), so I toughed that take out …

Hi guys, Wondering if anyone has any experience using the Shure MX393/O boundary mic? http://www.shure.com/americas/products/microphones/microflex/mx392-mx393-microflex-boundary-microphones Here's the situation: A few months ago I worked on a shoot in a classroom with about 15-25 students. Two camera's, one wide, one on close ups. It was an ESL class, so students with varying degrees of confidence with the English language. The class proceeded as normal (ignoring the cameras) with a lesson and then student/teacher interaction. Of course, the teacher was wired, but the students all had to be boomed. The issue became that to hear some of these shy kids, …

I have an SMQ that I use much less than my SMs because sometimes, not always, when I turn it on, it goes through the boot up, gets to the audio screen, then a couple seconds later turns itself off. It seems to only do this when using ni-mh batteries. I don't like to use lithiums if I don't have to because of cost savings and environmental friendliness of rechargables. Has anyone else had this problem, or do I need to send this back to Lectro to get repaired? Thanks Kelsey

I have the Camrade sound bag for my SD 788T, which i find veery bad - it presses all wrong places and plugs in the recorder, and has no space where it should have. Which better sound bag would you suggest for the 788T? Thanks Tony Muricy

I bought this SD card for my 552 and tried it out but keep getting error beeps and flashing red lights. Naturally I formatted the card in the mixer but after every take I have to turn the mixer off and re-boot. What's been happening is that when the mixer boots up, the orange light goes on for a bit then turns off- meaning the recorder is ready to record. The following take records successfully but then the orange light remains on permanently and when I try to record again, the red light flashes and I hear an audible warning beep. This is when I have to reboot. I have programmed the "stamp file auto record" function (getting time code from the camera via my Zaxcom STA15…

Hi All Has any one had any luck getting a lav mic to work with any recorder that puts out plug in power; hopefully a Countryman B3 and Zoom H1? or Lectro M152? I want to avoid using an external phantom power unit....

High All, Can anyone comment on the durability of the new Rode Lav's Micon Connector (Lectro)? Few examples I've heard online sound pretty good, but could see that connector having issues with usage. Also, how do you like the sound? Thx Mark L

I'm looking to add a mic to my kit that I will use primarily for sit down interviews. I plan on renting/demoing a few this week for a number of interview shoots in mostly quiet and controlled environments. I plan on auditioning a Schoeps MK41, but would like other suggestions as well. I know this has been discussed before, but I had trouble finding the threads. Thanks. Marc

So I couldn't pass up a great deal on a couple of CMITs. Looking for advice on settings. Do the regular users of this mic just set it and forget (what settings), or do people use the filters regularly for various situations. Just curious.

So I'm thinking of getting a DR-680 for for ad shoots, FX/atmo recording etc. It'll also make a swell backup recorder for whenever it is I'll have the means to get an SD unit or another pro tank. I haven't found any reports on how the Tascam might perform in cold weather - as in below freezing, 0 to -20 degrees Celsius even. The manual promises operation at 0 deg C, but if anyone has anything to chime in about performance in colder than that, it would be appreciated!

I ran a frequency scan on my 2 block 26 Lectrosonics Lectrosonics 211 this morning and came back with drastically different results. They were both being powered by twofer cable coming out pf my PSC powerstar mini BDS running off a switronix np L60 battery. Everything else in my bag was powered off. When I swapped out the power cable the scans matched. When I restored the original power cable and scanned again, the scans were much more similar. I haven't had any problems with either one of my receivers or the power supply, bit im a bit concerned by the discrepancy. Could this rf spray be coming from the power cable or power supply? Marc
