I'm usually working with a RED user in town who has a very very basic configuration.... basically the guts and a lens . I've always come across issues with this user trying to find places to securely and ergonomically attach whatever gear I need to (g2, lectro, lock box, whatever... etc..etc..). I'm looking for any recommendations you all might know of for decent mounting plates.....much appreciated.

My TS-3 EL just began emitting a whining buzzing type noise when the intensity switch on the back is set to Backlit mode, in addition to the backlight not working. The only thing i see that may be causing it is the face of the slate is beginning to peel up slightly from the bottom, though I am not sure how this would effect the backlight function. I beleive the peeling was caused by the labels or tape that is written on was being ripped off with a bit to much zeal. I would just call Denecke but I only just found this out, after they have closed shop for the day and I can not call them. I'll give them a ring tommorow but until then has anyone ever had a similar issue?…

Hey guys, I'm wondering which Furman you guys have been using for your carts. I pondering between the PL Plus DMC or going full out on the P-1800 AR which offers full conditioning. Running two 788ts and two venues on the cart. Meon coming soon too. Thoughts? Thanks! -Chris

It is my understanding that an Antenna Combiner combines multiple transmitting signals to a single antenna. An Antenna Splitter splits a signal from a single antenna to multiple receivers. For example the Shure PA421SWB or the Audio Techinca MCB4 combine the signals of their respective monitoring transmitters to a single antenna. I know that in some places a Combiner also refers to a Splitter, but generally speaking you "split" reception and "combine" transmission.

The September 2011 issue of "695 Quarterly" (official publication of IATSE Local 695) has an article by Jim Tanenbaum titled "Radio Mike Redux". The article is interesting, but makes two points that I think should to be corrected -- one about diversity antennas, and one about power distro filtering. From the section subtitled "Receivers": "If you are using two 1/4-wave whip antennas, simply orient one 45 degrees to the left and the other 45 degrees to the right, instead of both vertically... ...This puts the antennas at a right angle to each other, so at least one will pick up the signal strongly no matter what its polarization angle." This statement is not…

I'm wondering if anyone who is using the newer G3 versions has any opinions about their performance. They do seem to be a good value and and very ubiquitous in the music world. I was wondering how the range was vs IFBs or comteks. My understanding is that the audio quality is quite good and you can send a stereo mix where you could send a variation (no wires/mix minus etc) to boom ops that they can dial in at the receiver side. Not sure what happened with the original post but I did place it as the new site was coming to life....?? I did receive a few feed back posts, so the images were there.. for a while. Here is the repost of the images of some "handles" or wings that I made from 1.5mm aluminium angle ( 20mm x 12mm ) They are great for name bars and protection of the control surfaces on my 788t and my 552... Not shown in the images, I am starting to use "cup washers" to decrease the chances of the countersunk holes being pulled through by the screws.

Looking to find some feedback and experience with the new servo wiring. Is it better, over rated? If I have SM transmitters, and dont need the universal wiring, is "servo only" a clear choice?

I've been looking over past discussions on the topic of antennas and active and passive combiners but still feel a bit in the dark and am hoping for some more discussion. What I am looking at for the cart I am building is a stand alone unit that will distribute 2 Dipoles or LPDAs to 4-6 Lectro 411's I often need to take receivers out for bag work so am looking at these 4 options: A) 2 x PSC RF Multis (1 per Antenna) Lectro UMC16BL Rack mount ADA C) Audio Technica half rack unit ATW-DA49 http://www.audio-technica.com/cms/accessories/b2f1e766e2abec42/index.html D) 2 x Mini Circuit 4 way passive splitters I am quite intrigued by t…

To the Deva/Fusion users.... I'm starting a cart based job in a few weeks. I have been on the fence about a Mix8 or Mix12 for my Fusion10. The major appeal of the Mix12 is the quick EQ access. RemoteAudio has provided an output solution, which was a previous push for the 12. The Mix8 costs less than half and is Nomad compatible. Is there anything else about the 12 that makes cart life a lot easier, and worth the big price gap? I only have 8 analog inputs, have not used the digital inputs, so the 8 sliders sound perfect. I also expect I will eventually pick up a Nomad, so the dual use is a bonus. The EQ is the one thing that would be exponentially easier to use wi…

Ok, I'm still a newbie and I'm lost when it comes to which Lectro system to buy. I'm looking for something used/ebay'ish since that is all I can afford right now. I've seen a lot of great deals for used equipment but I'm not sure which system is right for my application. I've been doing location sound work for my friends Indy films and I'm currently using an Edirol-R44 as my primary recorder. I've been getting by using my Sennheiser G1's but I'm embarrassed busting them out the more I learn about sound. So, can you guys please give me some insight as to which Lectro system to buy for a beginner type setup? Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Mike

Hi Glenn I have been traveling with my QRX100 hops very successfully for the past 2 weeks. Unfortunately today when I was off-set briefly someone disconnected my QRX from the camera to replace it with another soundos hops. When I reattached mine I was not receiving any return from the IFB and upon further investigation the IFB extended menu is alternately black blocks and empty spaces and as such unreadable. Both code and audio have ceased transmission and I am not getting a return signal. Any ideas? I still have a week to go on this shoot and need confidence return and of course code. They assure me everything was powered down when they disconnected it. Please he…

I'm getting tired of buying batteries from costco. Anyone have a good website to buy bulk quality 9 volts and AA's from? I like having a surplus lying around but the cost of 9 volts from a retailer is just insane! Chase

I'm taking my first trip to Europe with my Lectros, block 21. I contacted Lectrosonics and they don't have RF info for Europe. How can I find info if these units will work in Croatia. Any pointers would be appreciated.

Hey group, I'd like to start a thread to consolidate information on using the "dual mode" of the new Zaxcom QRX receiver. Specifically, I'd love to hear reports from users who are using the QRX in the bag or on the cart as a dual receiver, that is, using the unit to receive two different transmitters simultaneously. As in the situation where you have one QRX receiving two talent mics. Currently I've only used the QRX in single mode as a stereo camera hop. For that it has been perfect. But I have not been able to test out how robust the dual receive mode is. For example: One of my concerns is that occasionally I will see the indicator LEDs sho…

Hey all, So i just invested in a BDS system. I have it hooked up to a SD 702, SD 302, and a Y cable to two lectrosonics 401's. I am getting a high pitch tone noise (ground loop?) affecting my 702 recorder. I tried to power each of the units "alone by them selves" to see if the other devices are the problem. Then i tried swaping the cables to see if it was one of them. Then i removed the 702's battery, and tired powering it from the just the BDS. When i tried this, and powered it up, the audio was clean no more noise. I dont know what to do, is it common to not use a battery with a bds on a 702? I would like to have the battery in to use as a backup if i run out of ju…

Is anyone using rechargeable 9V batteries with good success on Lectro UM400a transmitters? I have PowerEx AA batteries on some Sennheiser 2000 transmitters and receivers and those have always done well. I'm curious about the 9V's and how they fare. Thanks!

Ongoing...just like the carts. With the advent of new Zaxcom gear options, have been re-thinking car rig solutions. The above represents latest thoughts. In talks with Pro Sound relative to a Y-cable that would allow me to attach two CUB-1's (or whatever) to the TRX900LTS rather that permanently wire two mics together for use with the stereo unit. In this way, I can use one TRX900LTS in the car for the typical installation. Eric says it can be done if they can source the female 3-pin Lemo, and I'm thrilled. Furthermore, with that Y-cable, I can do that mic-in-the-shoulder / regular mic placement to cover wacky actor action / hug situations without dedicati…

Finally going to pick up a couple mics that work well in cars. Both of these mics have received great reviews on this forum, but I can only afford 1 pair at the moment. They clearly have different mounting styles. Just wondering if any of you happen to use both, or any feedback on the drawbacks of either. Greatly appreciate the help. Also, I did check out the schoeps / dpa comparison and audio files posted by Don Coufal a while back. Just have never heard a CUB 01.

Here's an interesting (to me) problem that finally seemed to have a simple cause. I've reordered the history so the oldest email is at the top. An interesting conclusion is that there is a need for a lighter solution than using 2 x 150 foot runs of Belden 9913F which would weigh 15 lbs for each run and is bulky when rolled up. If this is too long, skip to the end to find out who killed Colonel Mustard in the drawing room with an RE20. ******** From: Bartek Swiatek Sent: Tuesday, June 14, 2011 10:42 AM To: Larry Fisher Subject: Switching antennas noise Hi Larry, I'm on a show in Atlanta, a very wireless heavy show, and I'm using a Vrfield with lp650's. …

Just recorded a corporate gig on a moving shuttle bus, where a VIP ambushes employee-riders with Ethics Code questions in "Cash Cab" style. I hid a B6 lav on the VIP, and chose a Scheops MK41 to capture rider responses, hoping the generous angle of acceptance would add a bit of forgiveness to late boom arrivals, and multiple riders (there was a Gopro mounted at the fore and aft of the bus, plus a handeld cam operator shooting foreward from the back, and i was asked to "hide" myself and boom as well as possible in the back row, and jut my boom forward down the aisle below head level as riders answered ( who doesnt love a challenge eh?)) As expected, I was unable …

Just wondering what most people use and if there is a difference. I am a Yaggi user (that sounds a little odd" RX Anonymous" ) but you know what I mean. I cannot fault them and have had great results since I started using then .A good example would be my Boom Op 0.5 miles out at sea with me sitting on the beach with perfect reception from his radio boom.Client very surprised and happy, me and my kit dry and safe a good but to be expected day for Yaggi. I know they are big and abit ugly but that only helps to makes me look better . I might be totally wrong but this side of the pond UK I think that we are more Yaggi and the US seems to be more sharkfin. But that only comes …
