I'm traveling with the CL12 more than before. Is there a case folks are using that fits snugly? Skinny hardcase prefered as it'll be riding with other equipment in a larger case. So many options but nothing seems to be off the shelf. I know this is hitting a small sample size...

Evidently, these are no longer being produced. The machinist that they were using has retired. I recently purchased a used TS-3, and would love to put a handle on it. I've had one on order at Trew for a couple of months now, but I suspect they won't be able to rustle one up. Do any of you have a spare, or know of someone that still has stock? Thanks! Louis

Hi all, I'm considering upgrading my SD 633 to either an 833 or Zaxcom Nova 2. If I do decide to go with the Nova I will have to continue using my current wireless for some time as I gradually change over to the Zaxcom ecosystem (if I decide to go that route). So my question is this, what is the best way to get digital audio from external receives (in this case Wisycom MCR54 and Lectrosonics SRB) into the Nova 2? I understand that with the original Nova the "MAES slot-in module" could be used for this purpose. Is this still the best way to go about it with the Nova 2? Alternatively I see that the DB-15 mini port at the bott…

I own a bunch of Sony UWP series transmitters and receivers that I use with my FX6/FX3 cameras. I do a lot of commercial and corporate work, so most of my lavs are Sanken COS-11Ds mounted for Sony. I also have a HIXMAN CA117 adapter that allows me to run my Sony mounted COS-11Ds to Tentacle Sync TRACK E's for those occasional times where I run into interference issues. I love the sound of my COS-11Ds and find that they are far better than the Sony stock lavs or even the lavs that come with the Tentacle Sync TRACK E's (which I believe are essentially Sennheiser ME 2 mics), as they should be since they are pro level mics. In addition to my commercial/corporate w…

Thank you MIx for your Sound for Film and TV online event. Several of the production mixers mentioned extensive use earwigs. It sounded like they had a bushel of the things. Enough to cover a whole orchestra or dance troupe. (It sounded like this will be the next wave sound reinforcement for directors to be able to be inside the actors heads). I used to carry 6 of the Phonaks but now I'm down to just 3. Does any one know what the preferred replacements are? I heard there is a range extender for the Roger system that makes them useable, (but still a sizable investment). Is anyone using the Blue Tooth ones? Thanx David B

I have been capturing some sound effects outdoors using some large capsule condenser mics. Maybe not Neuman's, but I have a couple of AKG C-414 mics and other than the need for stands, it's not that different from other microphones. I mentioned this to a studio-bound friend/colleague yesterday and he seemed mildly appalled. He immediately cautioned me about the fragility of condenser capsules. When I assured him I was using precautions like blimps, deadcats and other windscreens depending upon the wind ferocity, he scoffed and suggested the pencil condensers should be my first choice. As much as I respect my colleague and his ability to capture a symphony orc…

The CS-106 has three Nagra sockets—two (in and out) for a stereo Nagra (IV-S) and one with both ins and outs for a mono Nagra (4.2). Has anyone ever used both at the same time? I am experimenting with ambient recordings and would like to try it. I’ll wait a day for comments and then if nobody says “don’t”, I’ll try myself and report back.

I have recently had an issue where timecode is sent up the L/R audio snake feed to the camera, and is (obviously) heard on return feed. I am a Sound Devices 833 user since 1-23 and prior to that an SD 633 user. I can get the same effect just plugging the lemo and return ends to the mixer and listening to return! Remote audio says they will take back the 2 snakes with this issue, Sound Devices had not seen/ heard of bleed issues... so i faxed out both snakes on 633 and 833, powered via battery and ac....same result! Anyone else amongst this august group have similar issues?

Hi everyone, I'm new to this website, I have been searching all over the internet for vintage wireless microphones, but sadly there are not many options available.. so, basically I would consider buying two types of handheld transmitters: 1) it has to be fairly compact size with a durable/flexible antenna on the back. Examples: Sennheiser skm-4031-tv, Sony wrt-57, Sony wrt-67, Beyerdynamic S700/S85/S185 2) it has to be big and look like an old vhf handheld transmitter, examples: Lectrosonics UT200/400, Lectrosonics T-187, Vega handheld transmitters, Electro Voice csh-1000, Electro Voice r-100 (the typical shapes of the mics are important for me) …

I can't quite afford Zaxcom wireless but want the capability to record my lavs on-body while monitoring them. I've got some small bodypack-type 32-bit recorders by Zoom (F2's) with a TRS input and output. For test sake, I connected my lavs into the recorder packs and output them into my Sennheiser G3 transmitters. Of course, the recorders sounded great but there was a noticeable drop in sound quality coming through the transmitters. So, my natural next inclination is to bypass the Zoom f2, and the best way that I can imagine to do that is with a Y-splitter that allows me to send the Lavalier's signal into both my transmitter and recorder at the same time. Is there…

So this actually started happening a month or two back but haven't had to time to look into it, I have been forced to run with my back-up setup in the meantime. Started having weird dropouts while on shoots, seemingly on my boom channel a lot. I had just gotten a new MKH50 and was worried something was defective but soon it started happening on my other channels as well with my lavs and even Line-In channels. Levels and sound would be coming in as normal and then randomly... just nothing. No sound, no levels, no signal. And no sort of problem solving would ever get the input back either. Re-stabbing the XLR ports, power cycling the mixer or the RXs and TXs, r…

Anyone tried the new digital Sennheiser XSW IEMs? Those offer the option to individually use either stereo mode or blend two channels to a mono signal of choice on the Rx side. The signal should be compander free and thus maybe better on the low end than the analog G3/G4 system. If RF performance is OK it could be a good Boom Op IEM system at a real tempting price.

The best Nomad sound bag ever made. $35.83 A lot of cool pockets and features. But the best feature is you can zip up the top to protect it. WHICH EVERY SOUND BAG SHOULD HAVE!!!! All water resistant. Great padding. Waist mounts and shoulder strap. Side cup pocket. Zippers and compartments everywhere. I wish somebody makes a small one like that for NOVA OneUNit. I have a bunch of Sony UWP transmitters and receivers that are all the previous generation. In total, I have 5 lav transmitters, 2 plug-on transmitters, 2 handheld mics, 6 single receivers, and 1 dual receiver. I use my wireless transmitters and receivers on my Sony FX6/3 cameras as well as on my Sound Devices MixPre-6 II for various video projects. In addition, I sometimes will also use them for livestreamed events where we are also projecting audio to house sound through various sound boards. My question is about the new generation. I see that the body packs are slightly different (smaller), but I’m curious if there’s anything in the newer system that would …

A newbie question, but the Lectro documentation on "phantom power" from their UM400a transmitter is confusing to me. Seems sometimes you can connect powered mics directly using the MC41 cable, but other times you need an in-line 48V phantom power box. I'm hoping to rig the the UM400a with an MC41 cable to a 416 mic to make a wireless boom for some shots. Any guidance in what's needed here (or whether this is worth the expense and weight) is much appreciated.

I have owned and used Phonak in the ear receivers. I have an ongoing project that an in the ear receiver would be very helpful for the talent. Seen the Halter videos on the Microsone. Are there any folks out there that have a Microsone or used one? How well does it fit in the ear? Does it hide well? Phonak seems a bit smaller How is the audio quality? I suspect there is a difference over using a Comtek transmitter or a UHF transmitter from other manufactures. Price point is a large consideration. The Roger system is a bit out of reach for this project. Thank you for your thoughts and advice. David

Hey Guys, I'm going through my stuff and was testing out my CL-8. I'm sending tone to my 788 that it's attached to from my lectro receiver. When I adjust the fader on the CL-8, I hear some kind of digital or harmonic artifact while the tone is running. I thought it might just be in the headphone circuit or something, but I did a test and it is being recorded. Here's a sample of what I'm talking about: https://file.io/zu2r3cSp6ufU Does anyone know if this is normal with a CL-8? The only thing i can think of is that it's adjusting it in steps instead of like an analog fader and causing some sort of harmonic to be audible. When I adj…

Hello, I just bought an used srb block 25 dual receiver but I couldn’t check it thoroughly until yesterday I began a shoot and I came across an issue I wasn’t able to solve: Everytime I wanted to use both transmitter, either a “check freq 1” or “check freq 2” showed up and I couldn’t use one or the other, and yes, I scanned, checked the compat snd everything I could think, even at one moment, I couldn’t hear both transmitters and the check freq kept on showing up… any help or an idea? Or it should be sent to Lectro? thanks in advance… Axel.

Hi, can the Lectrosonics UT700 handheld work with any other Lectrosonics Digital Hybrid receiver in the same block besides the UDR700? I'd like to use it for bag work with a UCR411.
