Hi, I am having problems with a SMQV M Block 26. I have own for 4 years this equipment and always have worked well. I use a DPA 4071 microphone. When I use this wireless kit there is a constant static I have changed microphones and its the same. I have never had any problem with mi Lectrosonics before. I own other kits but this is my only block 26 kit so I can't check if the problem is in the transmitter or the receiver. I think is the transmitter because I hear the static even when I don't plug the microphone in the SMQV, and when I plug it the static becomes louder. Have you had a problem like this?? Should I send my kit to service?? …

Hello everyone, I was wondering if anyone had insight or guidance as to what they typically do regarding proximity effect considerations for dialogue workflow. I have a few microphones where I have the option of using the proximity rolloff (CMIT 5, MKH-50), but I was interested in hearing whether others use them. I also have a CMC641 but I wasn't sure if it was typical for others to add an additional proximity rolloff during interviews given how close the microphone can be at times (8-10 inches or so). The guidance that I have gleaned from the manufacturers is that it becomes a noticeable issue at distances of about 20" to 24" or less. Some advi…

Just a simple question for all of you. Is your audio feed to video assist allways a mono feed? I have a customer asking for a specific function from one of our mixers and I want to be sure to have his/your needs covered in the future. Thanks Ron Meyer Professional Sound Corp

Anyone use the the mini, how do you like it?, They sell the 5ft extender for it that they describe as being quick and easy to add on. Anyone use that or try it? Definitely need over 11ft on a lot of shoots, but would love to own the 11ft mini and whack the 5ft extension as needed if the performance is similar to the QS 17 footer. Appreciate any experience with them :-)

I have had one of my COS-11 miss develop a cable issue at the head, and I think I remember reading about a "change over" scheme spoken of here. Does anyone know if this is still happening? Cheers PS

Hi all, Anyone have any issues with Ktek's newer klassicpro TA (TX adapter bottom; 'winglet'). It seems that any standard Neutrek connector will not lock into the adapter whether it be the old generation connector to the newer ones. My Zaxcom HM plug-on won't even lock in. Pictures below. I visited Ktek today to see if my TA was a defect. Unfortunately it does not seem so since I tried another TA from them with my cables and same result, not locking. Supposedly they were using a current generation of Neutrik connector as a test piece that was locking it in place. This connector locked into mine but doesn't help me at all. A lot of my XLR's …

I'm sure many of you accumulate partly discharged AA lithiums. What is the most accurate way to measure their remaining life? Right now I've got this: - a voltmeter? I gather that it's not a great measure unless their under a load - a Pulse-load battery tester. There's no spot on there for lithiums and this guy says it's inaccurate because of the flat discharge graph. - Stick them in a Lectrosonics SMQV transmitter, and look at the battery readout on the receiver, either the voltage or the lithium setting. I don't own a single battery (smv) transmitter so it's not isolating a single battery either way. Any other hacks that ar…

I've asked the same question in a Facebook group, so please forgive me if I copy and paste the text here I'm on the fence about what indoor mic to buy. I really want a Schoeps CCM 41 L, as all my other mics are also Schoeps (and I have accessories for CCMs), but I was told there is an issue with whine/noise/RF interference when paired with the ZMT4 as opposed to DPA small condenser mics for example (specifically the 4018). Now since it would be my indoor mic I don't plan on going wireless all the time, only when necessary, but it is still something that I would like to keep in consideration. Also for rigging cars, now that I think of it. …

I plugged in the SB3 like usual, and no incoming tc was detected. The green numbers were still. I swapped SB3s and tc cables with the same result. I did a factory reset too. Then I swapped Devas and the second deck did not receive anything. The most likely suspect of course is the cables, but the second cable I tried was brand new. I have never, ever plugged in a sync box and not had the tc show up. Help! Dan Izen

I've been thinking of buying a VR field. I really like the idea of being able to remote the receivers in desperate situations and running cable when needed (8 pair). I record mostly features and there are always a few awful locations where you can't get your cart anywhere near the set. NYC apts, etc... But I am very worried about the battery life of the NP-1. I've also heard that you can't read the bars on the NP-1 when in the bay of the VR field. Can anyone out there tell me through experience with this unit how much time I can expect with 6 receivers working from a new, freshly charged lithium ion NP-1? Thanks so much!!

I read that the new brace of Yamaha FOH boards have really simplified multitrack recording off them. I assume they have Nuendo Live in mind (since Yamaha owns Steinberg). Is there any word/rumor of an update to the 01V96 that would do the same thing? It would be WAY cool if the board could be the interface, so all you needed was a computer and drives. phil p

Who makes the best quality P-Tap socket ? I've tried various different ones and I find they are all pretty fragile. Or does anyone have any tips for a better way to assemble them ? I've gone through quite a few and none of them last much more then a few months without them coming loose.

Some of my Comtek P-1 zippered belt pouches are showing their age, and $16-19 seems a little pricey to replace with OEM pouches. I’ve found a few possibilities, but I thought I’d ask here. What alternative pouches are you using for Comteks? Preference for belt clip, as opposed to belt loop. Thanks in advance for any links and ideas! Brian

Was just curious if anyone uses the antenna outputs on the Venue for their TV tuner. I know these outputs are supposed to be "tuned" for the specific block (21-22 for me), but does it make that much difference for Modulus/Canatrans reception. Will it affect my wireless mic reception? Don't want to try it out and then mess up something inside the Venue. Thanks in advance, Robert

I'm wondering... A couple of things really, since you can select which tracks to record in the Deva, if I select track 1mix, track 2 as safety, track 4 wire and track 8 wire. Do they come up as track 1234 in telecine and post ? I also remeber reading something once about Avid or Protools not being able to read odd numbered files, like 3,5, and 7 tracks. Is this still true? thanks, Larry

Hey guys, I'm sorry for this topic. Since this camera appeared I've recorded audio separately from the 5D using a clapboard. My question is, is it possible to feed the camera via my recorder? Is there any issue of giving a line level signal? I definitely hate doing this through the minijack! Thanks in advance, Marco

Being that the Zoom R-16 is a multitrack recorder how is its recording sequencer setup? Say I need to record 3 takes how easy will it be to start a new session for each take? Any input. Thanks Nicole

My Qrx100 QIFB just lost all QIFB functionality. Mid-shoot. Receiver works fine but zero IFB now, zero zaxnet control. Updated firmware after wrap but still no IFB menu at all. I’m in a bind. Any ideas other than the ifb board just gave up the ghost? Any rental houses used in New Orleans (I’m landing in the evening) that can help fill the gap with an ifb100 or ifb200? Planning to call Zaxcom monday morning. Help! Avi
