http://cgi.ebay.co.u...e=STRK:MEWAX:IT I've seen these on ebay and wondered if anyone has any experience of them or anything similar, as my 520Mah iPowers aren't lasting very long in the Lectro UM450s I'm currently trialing, it may be I can't get a decent battery life from the UM450, and I have to try a different tx, but these might be worth a shot......

I purchased two TL-40 Lavs last week one in black and one in white. Upon using the lavs for the first time I was impressed by the build quality and how white the white lav is. The shade is much lighter than my white Sanken cos-11. The Lav head is about the size of a B3 but thankfully doesn't sound like a B3 or B6 microphone. It actually has a very flat and uncolored sound which I like it can also take alot of SPL. I had a very loud talent wired today and never had any mic level distortion at all or had to adjust the transmitter input gain to prevent overload. Just like the B3 or Cos-11 it was very easy to conceal and I found the cable to be of good construction. Overall I…

Hi all, I wana buy an MS stereo boom solution for my documentery and reportage jobs. At the moment I am working mostly with an Neumann RSM 191. Great sound, but very sensible at handling noices, wind, RF influences... I also do not like the extra Matrix box. Just one thing more in my bag, that can break in the fild. I was thinking to buy an used MKH 30 + MKH 60. I like Sennheiser, but it is an heavy and big solution. I do not understand, why Sennheiser does not make an 8 from there new MKH8000 product line? Maybe Shoeps? ...generaly I am not shure tu buy an all in one MS mic or an two mic solution. Is the whole system more sensible to wind, because, the si…

Greetings Legends of Sound, Does anyone have any real world experience of the Sony digital radio mic system? I'm interested in the portable dual rx and belt pack tx's - I hate the old Sony systems but have been told the new stuff is impressive. Any one used it in anger? ? Range? Battery life? Remote control ? Sound quality?? Rf stability...?

The Zaxcom website now has a fairly extensive explanation of NeverClip technology as is used in Nomad recorders. It's a good read and there is an audio file demo posted that demonstrates the extended dynamic range provided by NeverClip technology. NeverClip Explained NeverClip Demo (audio) Even though I put both links here, I would suggest for anyone who is still not sure what NeverClip is, should do the reading first before listening to the demo.

Hey guys, looking at this 4 channel receiver for use in cart and bag. The price point is the same as buying 2 SRC’s but it has way more functionality than SRC’s. Anyone tested it? I would be using it with existing smv’s and smqv’s I would also loop thru antennas with existing venue on the cart. thoughts?

Three years ago Jack started asking Nomad users which cards they found good/bad. Most people used Transcend 32GB 133x as they had proven themselves during Jack's beta testing of Nomad. I'd like to revisit that survey in the hope of hearing many more brands and speeds recommended/condemned. Include microSD for Zaxcom body pack transceivers, as well as Nomad Primary and Mirror. Mention good or bad experiences. I'm happy with these for 3 years now... Primary: Transcend 32GB 133x Mirror: Transcend 32GB 133x Transcend 16GB 133x Transcend 8GB 133x micorSD: None yet

Read more: http://www.timecodesystems.com/products-home/ultrasync-one/ From official Facebook page, about connectors: "It's a mini COAX rather than a mini BNC. The official connector name is DIN 1.0/2.3 and is an off the shelf connector available from most electronics hardware suppliers. Two cables are provided in the box to BNC (for timecode and genlock) and more will be available."

I'm looking into whether anyone has any experience using the compatibility mode on Lectrosonics receivers (SRa /411) with transmitters from other manufacturers, specifically the Sennheiser 3000/5000 series (I've read Mode 3 should be compatible with the HiDyn plus compander)- what's the range like and how do they sound compared using the original receivers? I've got a couple of Senn transmitters which can be re-tuned reasonably cheaply, although the receivers are more expensive and I'm looking at other options, at least as a stopgap.

I want to add a hypercardiod mic to my kit for recording dialogue in interiors (and perhaps in some outdoor conditions as well). I will sometimes be booming this mic and other times I will be putting it on a stand. I understand the philosophy of buy a good quality/performance mic the first time around so to save money (and gain performance) in the long run. But as I've recently purchased a SD302 mixer my budget is more constrained. What I would like to know is what is the cheapest good quality/performance hypercardiod? After doing some research I've narrowed my choices down to: Audio Technica AT4053b Audix SCX1 HC AKG Blue Line CK93 MBHO 603 with hyper cap …

Hello all I'm considering buying a nice, open sounding cardioid mic for interiors and I've been leaning towards the Sennheiser MKH50. I've used the 50 a good few times and I really like the sound. It's a quiet mic and I find it great for giving presence to voices in reverbant environments. And lots of sound recordists swear by it. However, I was wondering if anyone has tried the MKH8050 and how they find it compares to the 50? Most people I've talked to say it has a similar sound to the 50 but some have said that it's more prone to handling noise. So what are people's experiences? All insights and opinions are welcome.

Im looking to get a cart for my 788t rig. What's a good recommendation for either an inexpensive cart or a good way to make one. Looking for a cart that is similar to the PSC or film tools cart, but also open to a follow cart like the magliner. Most important part is that it folds almost flat.

So, I just wanted to check up and see if people are still enjoying using their TL-40's and 801's/ 802's? How are they holding up? Well built? Sounding good, working fine? I'm asking cause last spring there was lots of talk about people receiving faulty mics (myself included), and lots of problems, but some seemed very pleased. Have they got it sorted out by now? Is it worth taking another look at these mics?

Heyday world! I would like to address the Sound Devices users and Zoom F4/Zoom F8 users especially. I need a new recorder...and possibly a good mic or a matched pair. I thought of a Zoom F4, but also considering a SD recorder/mixer. I'm about to embark on a loooong journey (years, possibly forever), in a van, all by myself, to capture and explore the beauty of our planet. (I will start in Europe and slowly drive to Asia). I will actively look for the most quiet/remote places, far from cities or traffic. I will record sound and picture (one man band for now) and create atmospheric observational documentaries... with personality Sound will be essential. Mos…

I order this bag mid December, only to find it wasn’t shipping till this month. I currently have a Petrol Pegz1 bag which I have used with a 442 / 702 T and then a 552. I was not happy with placing the 788T/ CL 8 in this bag with the hard sides the input connections seemed very jammed to me. The first thing about the new PS 614 that surprised me is that there is NO carry straps or handle like their other bags. Not a big issue till your take it off your harness and want to carry it to another location, there is a long carry strap which I am going to shorten for carrying purposes. The bag comes with the long strap, two removable interchangeable dividers, t…

It looks like we're not going to see Deva32 as soon as we had hoped, but when it does arrive, it looks like they have made a wonderful conceptual change --- a recorder that will not be confined to just cart based work as we saw last NAB. This is exciting (I hope more details are revealed but Zaxcom might save it all for NAB).

I getting more into cart mixing and am finishing my cart. I am selecting my monitors at the moment and wants to stay away from 19’ rackmounts to keep my cart light and small. I thinking to get 2 very bright 7” field monitors and add a 3rd 5” “that I already own” when I need it. Here is my question: When VTR sends SDI down the cart do they just loop through lets say 4k DCI 23.976 or do they down convert to 2k or 1080P. There are many monitors to choose from but SDI INPUT is up to 2k signals. DO you have your own converters? How often do you get wireless receivers?

Scott Farr has located what looks to be a really useful handheld RF frequency scanner. It is called the RF Explorer and is available in several different models. The one most useful for us would most probably be the one that handles a range from 240 to 960. It is also one of the more expensive units at $129.00 (US). Available online at: seeed

Hey everyone! this is my first post so excuse my noob status I'm about to upgrade my DR680 as I'm getting more work, but I have a limited budget and I'm after some advice on which recorder I should go for. I have an opportunity to buy a used 744t at about the same price as a new zoom f8. Even though it's on it's way to being obsolete, would I be wise to grab it and forget about the f8? I'm pretty suckered by the 8 tracks, promise of good timecode, bluetooth capabilities etc... but I have reservations about it being a zoom and it's reliability, and that nobody has used one yet, and don't wanna get laughed off a film set because i have non-pro gear ... the 744t is a wo…

Hi all, anyone know if there was a source for the lower profile female XLR connectors? Have noticed a few here and there, Loon certainly use them with their cables. I'd love to to wire some up if they're around. cheers http://www.loonaudio...=a815B4B2CC.jpg

Yesterday I found some interesting equipment authorizations on the FCC web site. They were granted in the last two weeks, and the information in the filings matches wideband versions of the SM transmitter, with references to both single (SMWB) and dual battery (SMDWB) packages. FCC ID search here: https://www.fcc.gov/oet/ea/fccid of particular interest were FCC IDs: DBZSMWBA1 DBZSMWBB1 DBZSMWBB2 DBZSMWBC1
