I've searched around on this forum, and searched across the web and I don't see anything about this, so I'm hoping Tom (or someone else in the know) will see this and chime in. It appears that there are two hardware versions of the HS-P82. Mine has the power switch beside the Slate button, but I'm seeing other units on both eBay (listed as brand new) and on some well-known retailer web sites with a button marked "LCD Tilt" in place of the power switch, and the power switch is on the side panel beside the power input jack. There are other front panel differences, too - the Shift button is gone and has been replaced by a Locate button, among other changes I see. TASCA…

Hello guys, I ran into an issue with the SD 664 on set. I used the BDS4v to power a SRb and a 664 and ran into an issue with the 664 powering on and off randomly. At first I thought a cable might be loose so I checked everything to make sure nothing was loose and made sure to turn everything back off and on. At first the 664 kept cycling on and off until it suddenly stopped and stayed on. It worked for a bit and then it happened again. I then decided to change all the cables connected to the BDS and even swapped batteries. It seemed fine for 2 hours and then it starting doing it again. The BDS4v light never went out and the SRb never lost power either, only the 664 would …

Hey everyone, quick question, I'm currently a student, planning an equipment list for my senior thesis and I'm curious about the current line of the Deneke slates, as opposed to the legacy models from years past. My school owens a fully operational Denecke Decode TS-1, which I've been using for a while to mixed success (not all of our cameras can shoot true 24), but I have it within my budget to include a newer model, like the TS-3 in my rental package. From what I can see reading about the newer models, not much as changed, but maybe there's something I'm missing as I've never actually put my hands on anything other than the TS-1? My question is pretty s…

Hey folks, I am currently looking into a 6 or 8 channels recorder that does 192KHz. I currently own a Maxx and have found it sublime, I have tried upgrading to a Mixpre 10T but preamps have big issues on the ultrasonic spectrum, I tried the 788T but it can only record 4 channels at 192KHz so I am now looking into a used Fusion as I'd rather not settle for the F8's preamps which I know to be noisy ultrasonically speaking (a friend provided some nice comparisons). I am wondering if anyone has any experience recording at 192KHz on a Fusion and generally speaking, what your impression was of the preamps compared to a Maxx or a 788T or a 702. Any suggestions for other sol…

Hey folks, a question on the Zaxcom Fusions's physical knobs. I only do SFX recording and in most cases I never have a use for faders, I only use input trim. When using a SD 702 or a Fostex FR2 I can set the input trim with the physical knobs on the recorder, if I clip I see it and I know the level my meters show is exactly what I am recording. I was just testing a Fusion and noticed the physical knobs acted as post-trim faders, which meant that even when recording ISO I could potentially clip post-trim to then apply a negative value to something that has clipped with the knobs. All I'd like to do is bypass the faders which I can do by setting the output to disk to be pre…

Hello, Did anyone had a chance to try the new KSHRN3S – Stingray Harness Small and to compare it with the regular one? I'm 1.75 meter , middle weight (70kg) and wonder which one to take? I saw the difference between them are the shorter exosqueleton and smaller shoulder straps. Cheers

Hey folks, Continuing my research for an upgrade the Fusion seems like a good option, I am just wondering if anyone could tell me what they thought of its preamps, speaking with Zaxcom they mentioned they should be less good than a Maxx's, then again my Maxx's preamps are the best ones I ever tried. Anyone has some hands on experience for comparing? Lastly, for anyone that used it, is there any known problem with it? It can either be a "over time it tends to -insert issue here-" or some limitation one wouldn't expect. I'll test before buying anyway but I really, REALLY, want to be sure this is what I am looking for.

Hi, I just received a secondhand Sennheiser MKH8060, and did a quick comparrison between it and my old MKH416. I was expecting a big difference in self noise, but in the recordings the difference isn't that big I think. I recorded into my Sound Devices MixPre-6 at around 45 dB gain. Here's my test: https://youtu.be/cqa-U8GqBz0 What do you think, is my microphone alright? Thank you.

When I am monitoring my mix track, I can still hear each channel, even though my faders are turned all the way down. I've been looking through the menus, doing internet searches, etc. I can't seem to find any info on it. I'm assuming this is a rookie mistake? Any info is appreciated.

I've seen recently that wisycom sells their transmitter with a microdot input option. I've never really used the microdot connector but I am wondering if they are more robust (maybe shorter in lenght?) than their lemo counterpart. DPA microphones cost almost a $100 less in their microdot version so do you guys think that transmitter with microdot connector is just a trend or something to consider seriously?

Hi. I am using SENNHEISER AMBEO for now. However, Characteristics and S/N ratio are not perfect. Is there quad-microphone that like Neumann KU100 sound character. Anyone have a recommend? During this time, I bought pair of BLUE HummingBird. Character is far from the Neumann KU100 but it has quite good S/N ratio and transient response. I might buy two more of this and operate those as Double-XY. Just like him.

I found storage bags as an option, but really looking for a way to store np-50 batts in a "store-a-cell" type of top load rigid case. Mybe one that holds 4 np-50's in a row like 9v cases or 2x2 etc. I cant seem to find one. I have a routine of battery storage where position in these top load cases indicates to me full charge or time to charge. Right now i am storing np-50's loose but they may topple sideways. I can fashion something out of plastic etc but curious if anyone is using anything for this purpose prefabbed for other uses that might apply? -Ken

Not aimed at us (as far as I can tell), but rather at the "kinetic art object" market: Limited edition portable reel-to-reel recorder to make Munich debut [snip] Metaxas says that the best source for reproduced music is analog tape recorded on 10-inch reels at 15 inches-per-second (IPS), and of that there is no doubt. He further states that the same reel-to-reel hardware is the best way to capture live music. "This is a fact not open for discussion and is responsible for the incredible resurgence in interest in Open Reel Analog Tape Recorders," says the audio engineer and hi-fi component designer. "The High End Audio industry has embraced and ac…

Does anyone use a Molle Radio Pouch for a QRX100 or Micplexer. I think it’ll be a tight fit just wanted to see if anyone has any experience/recommendations. https://www.galls.com/5-11-tactical-molle-radio-pouch?PMSRCE=GAPLA&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI-uD95tCA2gIVj2V-Ch30uAXIEAQYAiABEgJkM_D_BwE

Hi, Anybody here who knows if the Wisycom MTP40S/MTP41S EU transmitters will work fine with a US receiver? Any reason it shouldn't work? No luck getting an answer from Wisycom or by searching. Have an opportunity on a well priced receiver from the US and would hate to pass on it. But would also not be thrilled wasting my money if it doesn't work with my EU transmitters. Would really appreciate some advice on this.

To All SMWB Users There is a 22 Mar 2018 update (SMWB, SMDWB Firmware Update v1.06) to the firmware for all SM Widebands including E01 and E07: https://www.lectrosonics.com/Support/category/98-smwb-smdwb.html This fixes a bug where a sleeping SMWB will not awaken. Resetting requires de-powering by battery removal and then re-powering. This bug will appear randomly with some units exhibiting it rarely or not at all and others demonstrating it reliably. The prototypes did not exhibit the bug and don't exhibit it to this day. The bug did not manifest itself enough that the beta testers could find it in the field. That would have made it too easy to find and fix. …

Hi folks. New to the board here. Looking forward to alle I can learn here. I live in Oslo in Norway. I use exclusively Zaxcom for lavs, and the Nomad or a 633 for recorder. We have a couple of Lectronics antennas for a Zaxcom QRX200, and after comparing them to the standard antennas we get 1 pixel(!) better reception. I have to say I´m seriously underwhelmed. Are we doing something wrong, or is that as expected? The standard antennas give pretty good coverage, by all means, but sometimes you just wish for a few meters more when an actor is moving a away on a wide shot. (I know we can set the trxs to record, but this thread is about …
