After having surveyed the site for a few days I must admit I like the old style better. This lack of color, the gray look, is kind of boring. I know it's the content that's important but the old appearance was way more welcoming...warmer. IMO Mick

How do I add a photo or a logo to that appears on the left hand side when I post? The author name being the proper term.

Hey Jeff, hope all is well and the new film is fun or at least rewarding ($$$$). I just read your review/thoughts about your new Zaxcom radios over on RAMPS and was wondering why you didn't post them here as well. I guess it really doesn't matter. Maybe typing it once is enough. Just sitting on stage w nothing better to do than ask stupid questions. Oh wait, this is the place where there are no stupid questions..... CrewC

Hey all, A toast to our host and all that post here at jwsound.net for the opportunity to do so and the quality of thoughts and advice and concerns that this diverse group of sound brothers and sister brings to the table. Well that's odd, I looked at the bottom of main page to look at recent topics, and there was one titled Recording a Trio (I think that was the exact title), looks like several people posted replies, but when I look at the thread, it's empty. What happened? Wayne

I am driving myself crazy trying to come up with a way to blimp these over burdened Sony 900 cameras and still make it user friendly for the first assist.

Hello Jeff, I would just like to thank you for providing such a sound community assett. (yes pun) I obviously appreciate being able to air my wares so to speak, however I hope I am doing it in a costructive community way. The other thing I do appreciate is being able to digress in any given moment to the plethora of interesting topics. I am after all a sound person, have been now for something like 40 years, things don't change. When I next do an update on my own website, I would like to add a link to your site, if you have no objections. I believe the kind of information available here is a valuable learning aid - for old & young alike. Also noticed on your Web…

Hey Jeff, and all who like film history. Todays NY Times Arts section had a very interesting article and pictures about Hal Ashbys 1st movie, The Landlord. Check it out and see the film if you are able. Time goes slow n time goes fast, but hopefully movies last. It was a time much like today when they made the movie, a time of great change in the film biz, and society, as well as great turmoil. Maybe we are on the verge of something good, but then again, maybe not. My take on it all, is that the lasting art comes with times of change, so I'm hoping... Anyway I thought I would toss this out to the many wonderful people @ jwsound...... Regards, CrewC

Why is it that when one posts here (or Gearslutz etc) that my posts appear right away (and I can see and correct my typos), while forums like RAMPS and RAP take a long time to post new messages? What is different about the approaches? Philip Perkins

"Six years after their last adventure, Lee and Carter, one of the movies' oddest crime-fighting tandems, are slowing down a bit in "Rush Hour 3." Watchers who warned that such a time gap would cost the franchise some energy -- especially from Jackie Chan, now in his early 50s aren't entirely off the mark, but the pic nevertheless stays true to the franchise formula of East-West fusion action, broad cultural comedy and international intrigue, this time largely in Paris. August rollout is like money in the bank for New Line, which will milk this likely final installment for maximum revenues down the ancillary stream. Hi This might be a rather stupid question.... but if there's an answer then it will make my time spent and the JW Forum even more fabulous. (BTW - thanks for putting on this great and generous forum. Much rather hang here than the alternative spaves) Is there a way when I open a topic that the messages are listed from oldest to newest, rather than newest to the original post? Thanks to everyone Chris B

I am trying to determine the causes of many reports of "Sync Issues" associated with Time Code from various Production Recording Machines. In order to establish a baseline for calculations used by the various manufacturers I need to assemble a collection of Broadcast Wav Files from the different machines that all have a common known Time Code. I have already collected files from Sound Devices 700 series and Fostex DV824 I need test files from DEVA IV and V Tascam HD-P2 And Aaton Cantar. Also the Fostex PD6 and DV40 Also Test files from Pro-Tools 7.xx and Nuendo would also be appreciated. The files need to adhere to the following specs. 1 or 2 Channels Po…

Jeff, I just noticed this heading. Is it a new addition? No posts yet so it can't be too old. IMHO, I'd think it has huge potential to evolve into a really active and valuable category. Any thoughts for direction, relevant material, posting guidelines, etc.? EB

Hi all! I think a good way to post pictures on a forum is to upload / host them somewhere else and just post the link. e.g.: hosting pics on Imageshack.us gives you the oportunity to upload the pic there and copy the link into your post. go to http://imageshack.us/ browse your hd, hit "host it" next page shows you the links, go to "thumbnail for forums(1)" copy the link, paste it to your post. voila cheers Christian

It was a pleasure to meet you today, and I want to thank you for the kind words spoken of David Ronne. He was a good friend, and he will be dearly missed by all the lives he touched.

I read the article about Haskell in the International Documentary association magazine with great interest. I had no idea that he was such a devout humanitarian as well as a world class DP. Great read and congrats on all his kudos. I am reluctant to state the obvious but Jeff, you must be very proud. Regards Mick

Hello Jeff, I think you can see that I am enjoying the site. Hope I am not using up too much memory on the server with my long winded posts. Just received my copy of "who Needs Sleep" this week. I took it to the job mid week and displayed it on the cart for passers-by. Loaned it to the script person (aka girl) overnight. I Watched it last night. It is wonderful! A super job by all. Haskell is great! Extreamly powerful. I saw you and many friends. I did fall apart at the end when I saw Mike Stone's wife (and baby). I am going to bring the DVD on every job (buy a few more copies too). If we all keep a copy with a self addressed bubble wrap envelope (like the …

Hi Jeff, I'm curious about the types of membership that are listed with each person's post; The categories are: Full Member, Senior Member, Jr. Member -- I might have missed some. What determines that member's classification? Happy Thansgiving to you. Regards, Richard

Hi Jeff, Just wanted to tell you how great your forum is. I have been a production mixer here in New York for 35 years, I mostly do commercials. I am researching a move to non-linear. I actually found out about the site from Take Vos when I asked him a bunch of questions. I attended both the recent Gotham seminars, the first was Metacorder vs Boom Recorder. In the early 70's come January, February there would be no work in the east (unless you got on a good doc or project in the Islands). We used to drive the van out to LA and do some spots with our NY directors. I got to work with Don Coufal and meet some of the top LA mixers. I remember going into Yale Elec…
