Hi Jeff Helen Finimore the Assistant producer on a program I've worked on has asked me to continue recomending sound recordists based around the world for a series of two day shoots filming an english language program. "Our next stop is New York, Ottawa, Bahamas and Los Angeles (if you have any local sound contacts, would love to hear from you! Will also be looking for a local cameraman in LA)" Would you have any suggestions. I'm reluctant to open this up to all comers and receive alot of emails as it is important to me that whoever I can suggest will be suitable and helpful too. I trust your judgement of course. It's a bag rig job into an ex3 with their…

Often when I (in Sydney Australia) am looking at the main board & the latest posts with their posted time beside them. I often wonder what the current time is for Jeff Wexler Discussion Group central. Its a curious little infatuation with the knowledge of this aspect, that I have developed. Would it be difficult (or is anyone else interested) in this eventuating??? RS

Jeff, With your new layout, when I cut and then paste a section from another web site, all of the HTML formatting clutters up the text. Is there any work around established on this -- besides not copying text from other sites? RL

I just received via Netflix the Criterion Collection Days of Heaven and was surprised to see a interview with Haskell as I didn't realize he has worked on the film. The interview was a great insight into Malick and Nestor Almendros. I really enjoy Malick films and wish he would make them more often. If you have anymore insight on the film I'd be interested in hearing about it if not I'd encourage everyone to see the film if you haven't.

I've been following "the truth," political discussion you initiated about government spending. I wrestle with myself as to whether I should join in, and possibly only add to the background noise, or simply read and consider the various opinions. This morning I noticed that John Blankenship has a brief response challenging an earlier post by Brent Lestage. I recall reading Brent's message earlier but there is no sign of it on the site today. Since John Blankenship's post quoted Brent's message in its entirety, there is no problem, in this case, with understanding the reference. Probably, after a day to consider, Brent decided that his tone was a bit more forceful tha…

Jeff: I don't seem able to successfully attach an image. I'm trying to upload a JPEG image, 263 KB, of a graph. When I attach and hit "Post" I see a navigation message (bottom line in the Firefox window) about "contacting JW Sound" and then a blank page loads. The whole post becomes lost. Any thoughts? Do I need to avoid any particular characters in the file name? David

Try as I might, I cannot get the clock to display the correct local time. Venturing to the profile page, edit profile, scroll down to Central Time, Save Changes and it reverts back to GMT! And believe me I have tried this many times. It's a minor thing I know, but any help would be appreciated. Enjoy Atlanta... cleve

I have a tendency to make one or two edits to most things I post, usually to re-word something or to add onto the post. Recently, I edited this recent post in the Zoom F8n topic probably six times as I found more and more things to put in it, and part of me felt guilty thinking I might break something on the site as a result, or that you (Mr. Wexler) might have a flood of notifications about it. I figured I should make sure: Does repeatedly editing a post pose any harm to the site or be a nuisance for you or Laurence (or anyone else for that matter)?

I've noticed in the WTB/WTS forum that folks are able to change the topic title when something sells. How is this accomplished?

Jeff, I goofed and mis-spelled Kriky's name in the header line. I have it as "Kirky" rather than "Kriky." (My fingers just got ahead of me.) Is there any way that can be corrected? Thanks. David

This could easily be an error on my part, but I can't seem to find any way to access threads that come up when I do a search. I'm trying to find threads created regarding equipment insurance and although numerous threads are listed as results, the only link available is to the section the original thread was in such as General Discussion Technical Reference, etc. I use to be able to click on a link that would take me to the specific thread. Am I missing something?

Not exactly a sound issue but the special effects coordinator on our show didn't come to work friday because he fell asleep at the wheel thursday and totalled his new F250 truck. The police said if it wasn't for the size of his truck and the airbags he wouldn't have made it. The Producer, who up to this point has been a very unpleasant person to the whole crew has offered free rooms to any crew who have a long drive home. I can't remember the # of stories like this I have heard over the years. Feel free to add yours. I'm sure there are many more.

Jeff, the board needs a Favicon... When I look my bookmarks, the site has a blank icon.. worse yet, the history even shows your favicon as that google 'blocked' favicon.. which is not right. Wheres the Favicon? So, I took the liberty of making you one Jeff.. Download and put it on the board here. http://deepmagicstudios.com/downloads/favicon_123145.zip

Hey Jeff, and all who like film history. Todays NY Times Arts section had a very interesting article and pictures about Hal Ashbys 1st movie, The Landlord. Check it out and see the film if you are able. Time goes slow n time goes fast, but hopefully movies last. It was a time much like today when they made the movie, a time of great change in the film biz, and society, as well as great turmoil. Maybe we are on the verge of something good, but then again, maybe not. My take on it all, is that the lasting art comes with times of change, so I'm hoping... Anyway I thought I would toss this out to the many wonderful people @ jwsound...... Regards, CrewC

OK, welcome to the new home of this discussion... Although Oleg is in a different country, I suspect some clarification might be in order: Oleg has pretty much the right to say what ever he wants. Note: I say 'pretty much' because there are some reasonable limits on free speech, such as screaming "FIRE" in a crowded place, or libeling folks... The thing is, that that first amendment right does not necessarily exist on JW's forum. Working in radio on "talk stations", folks would also keep claiming their "free speech" rights, but the fact is that on my radio station, I am the only one with complete "freedom of speech" (subject to those reasonable limitations), and if …

Hey Jeff, I just had a quick question, been looking to build my own vertical cart soon, I've been reading old threads about your new follow cart, the 80/20 material, and all that jazz. Anyway my question was, after youve got the framing down, excuse me for sounding naive but what did u use for the base of the shelf and how is it secured onto the frame? Thanks in advance!
