Why is it that when one posts here (or Gearslutz etc) that my posts appear right away (and I can see and correct my typos), while forums like RAMPS and RAP take a long time to post new messages? What is different about the approaches? Philip Perkins

Not sure if others are running into this, it is happening both on my computer and phone, multiple browsers tested... I’ve noticed over the past day or so that only new posts are being added to the forum view, and new comments aren’t added to the count or bumping the post up. The activity feed is current but as far as I can tell the forums aren’t keeping up. anyone else seeing this? Also, this post got an error when posting, code EXO. That would also explain the other recent multiple post issues

Hi Jeff and Gang, No big issue but I thought I'd mention that when I've been posting today I've been getting some messages after I send the post (see below) : The posts seem to register fine. No problem for me but thought you may like to know. Anyhow, thanks and hope you're having a good Labor Day. Hi Jeff, for the last few days I've encountered a 404 message when clicking on the Gallery of Carts link on the main forum page. Using a normal computer running Firefox. What's up there? Is it me? Thanks!

Every couple of times I try to click on google link for jwsound when I am not on my computer that has it saved as a favorite I get redirected to an ininityads page - this has happened from more that one PC so pretty sure it is not me- just an FYI that maybe something is hacked/semi-hacked with the site.

Hi Jeff, It used to be when I did a google search for anything on this site, it would return a ton of hits, which kept me busy reading for years on end. It was better than the native search engine. However, it doesn't seem to be the same lately and a topic that should return dozens of threads will return only one or two. Did something change? It may not have been recent, but I was curious. My string is normally something like: "whatever I am searching site: jwsoundgroup.net".

"I have created the first group, Society, Politics and the Planet, in the anticipation that the section on the Main Board is going to be retired. Activity there should begin to take place HERE, in this GROUP." Any thoughts on when you plan on retiring Society, Politics and the Planet from the main board? I'm looking forward to getting my audio oasis back.

I 'hear' your father will be in the Vancouver area very soon to shoot a show about the wto riots in seattle. I hope he finds vancouver to be a great place. Unfortuneately the rainy season has started and it should be quite wet in the near future. Anyway I was kinda hoping to get on that show but it looks like its not meant to be, there are some great names attached to the show and it looks to be a very interesting shoot. All my best, Graham Timmer

Hey Jeff--help me out here. I suddenly have to log in each time I visit here, in spite of checking off "keep me logged in". This never used to happen--from my office computer I could always be logged in already. Did I change something inadvertently? phil p

Hi Jeff, Just wanted to tell you how great your forum is. I have been a production mixer here in New York for 35 years, I mostly do commercials. I am researching a move to non-linear. I actually found out about the site from Take Vos when I asked him a bunch of questions. I attended both the recent Gotham seminars, the first was Metacorder vs Boom Recorder. In the early 70's come January, February there would be no work in the east (unless you got on a good doc or project in the Islands). We used to drive the van out to LA and do some spots with our NY directors. I got to work with Don Coufal and meet some of the top LA mixers. I remember going into Yale Elec…

"Six years after their last adventure, Lee and Carter, one of the movies' oddest crime-fighting tandems, are slowing down a bit in "Rush Hour 3." Watchers who warned that such a time gap would cost the franchise some energy -- especially from Jackie Chan, now in his early 50s aren't entirely off the mark, but the pic nevertheless stays true to the franchise formula of East-West fusion action, broad cultural comedy and international intrigue, this time largely in Paris. August rollout is like money in the bank for New Line, which will milk this likely final installment for maximum revenues down the ancillary stream. I am driving myself crazy trying to come up with a way to blimp these over burdened Sony 900 cameras and still make it user friendly for the first assist.

Well that's odd, I looked at the bottom of main page to look at recent topics, and there was one titled Recording a Trio (I think that was the exact title), looks like several people posted replies, but when I look at the thread, it's empty. What happened? Wayne

Hello Jeff, You hear it all the time so it may not even register much, but this wonderful place is such a treasure to a new professional like myself, that I have to thank you for being so generous with your time and expertise, and being so instrumental to my professional growth. It was a tremendous milestone to have found this site. It gave me the virtual connection to the mentors that I was desperate to find. Having posted a few times, I got the courage to go to the Gallery of Sound Carts event (feeling like a fraud about to be found out) and talk to a CAS mixer whose work I greatly admire, and then met another JW member at one of our Usual Suspects and had a nice…

On this forum, how do you insert just a link shortcut as apposed to inserting the entire address as the hyperlink? Such as : "link here" instead of "http//:etc.com" Thanks

Not really, but the new indicators of time spent as a forum member is a bit wonky. I don't care in my own case (I'm so old as to be retired) but I really would at least be a rookie after all these years :):):):) D.

Last week my girl and I spent a week on Fire Island. It was an awesome time, chilling comfortably on the beach while the rest of New York was sweating it out in the heat wave. Our mobile phones barely got any signal at all on the island, so it was a week free of the usual distractions. Instead of texts, voice mails, emails, and Facebook alerts, we got to relax, swim, and read books. At night in our rented room we did have satellite TV, which received about 9 stations. One night we popped on the TV after making dinner, and the film 9 to 5 was just starting on the Fox movie channel. My girlfriend hadn't seen it before, so we watched the whole thing. I was aware that you…

I read the article about Haskell in the International Documentary association magazine with great interest. I had no idea that he was such a devout humanitarian as well as a world class DP. Great read and congrats on all his kudos. I am reluctant to state the obvious but Jeff, you must be very proud. Regards Mick

Hi Jeff, Thank you so much for hosting such a wonderful collection of interesting topics and group discussions on so many different topics, I enjoy reading and learning about so many different things each time I visit the site. I agree with ,and admire, your extremely "open door" policy of welcoming all who would like to join the conversation, but would it be possible to allow us the option of an ignore button for individual posters? I find a very select few posters deter from the threads on a regular basis and I would like to not see these posts. I have seen and used this option in other groups but I am not sure if it is an option here. Thanks again! Ch…
