It may be net congestion or perhaps my macbook pro, but this week I'm experiencing a lot of lag time and pinwheels when browsing this site, it seems since the chat was initiated. For a couple of days, I was also perplexed by a random"donk" sound eminating from my mac, until I realized it was jwsound chat announcing a visitor or whatever. verrando

You might have heard this already perhaps, not sure what it means, but jwsound.net being reported as an attack site by Firefox it seems in combination with Google which it is claimed has a linkup with Firefox. This is happening for me with both Firefox on a PC and a Mac which makes me think there's more to it than just my setup? Anyway I cannot access jwsound at all with Firefox and I get a no-entry icon in my bookmarks. I'm now accessing with Safari. If it does mean something that's not just my system I hope it's not too difficult to sort out. Thanks for a great resource.

Since upgrading to the new software and/or look, I've been unable to find a button or link that will take me to the 'Last Unread' post in a particular thread on the 'Unread Content' section of the forum. Am I going mad, or is it missing??? Regards John

I've been thinking of this issue for awhile but was spurred to write by a recent series of posts on the topic of a good rental source in London. Faced with a last-minute booking, Nicholas (nhaudio) asked for recommendations of places to rent gear in London. Mike MIchaels immediately posted this response: very recently discussed... try some searching... Probably true but not very helpful to someone seeking help in a time-sensitive situation. Many posts seem to run to a pattern where similar issues will come up again and again but the person making the inquiry isn't skilled at finding the threads and simply asks the question anew. I think the site migh…

Why is it that this forum is generally very smart about making my typing into normal looking paragraphs, and others (RAMPS) will often break the lines up in odd places no matter how much I edit the post? (Not to mention Yahoo, where you can't preview at all.) I think you mentioned that the software you chose for this forum seemed like the best to you--it certainly seems to work better in regards to line breaks. Philip Perkins

Hi Jeff, Something has changed for me since the hack. I've got the permanent log on selected but I'm still required to log on each time I come to the forum. After I log on it indicates that I've been logged on permanently but that isn't the case. Curious. Thanks for a great forum. Its good for and efp/eng guy to hear about the film side of things primarily. Regards, Bernie

It seems that few folks on the forum log on "forever" (or else they are great about logging off), so maybe the default "stay logged-in" time should be one hour??

First of all, let me thank you for this invaluable blog. Great information, and nice people all around. I am a relatively new user and already find myself on here daily. I was hoping you could give me some names of audio post studios and hopefully contact names. I have just been hired as Executive Director of Audio Production for a new company called Palmera Pictures. We are based out of the Dominican Republic and are starting to build a full service Post Production Facility inside the country's premiere and most exclusive resort. In a nutshell, we will have complete Animation and Visual FX facilities and Full service Audio Post production studios. The i…

Hi Jeff, A little while ago the default page layout for the 'Main Board' view changed. Whereas in the past I was able to see all subforums, and whether there was a new post (indicated by a coloured file), now I can only see the latest posts listed. Is there a way to change back to the old view/layout, or is this a change across the board? Cheers, Jason

Hi jeff, I just finished a wonderful week teaching at the Maine Media Workshops and one of the highlights for my students was the video we shot at your house showing the latest (then) version of your cart and the gear in contained, and then you chatting freely about your many and varied experiences over the course of your career. They really enjoyed all aspects of the interview we did and thanks again for being so gracious and letting us in on your world. Mick Fowler

I'm having a problem with "Mark Board As Read Problem" and it's a new (3-4 days old) problem. I click on it and when I return and click on "View New Content" all of the old stuff is still there. It used to work fine.

Hi Jeff, based upon the conversation regarding the UK mixers and those of us located outside of LA, was curious if there was a feature like some of the Yahoo! groups have, where members can enter their geographical location on a map... so one could browse the membership directory geographically. May even be helpful for those looking for locals to crew projects, to see who is nearby without having to send out a broadcast message. Just curious if this feature was supported on your software... Thanks, Tom

That does it... click on the "A" all the way to the right side of text editor. This toggles the wysiwyg editor and I am now able to type in the message box on my iPad2

On the mobile version of the site, once I click on the classifieds section, I am not allowed to return to the main forum using the link in the top left. It just reloads the classified s page instead of going up a level.
