-from L.A. Times Actor David Carradine, star of the 1970s TV series "Kung Fu" who also had a wide-ranging career in the movies, has been found dead in the Thai capital, Bangkok. A news report said he was found hanged in his hotel room and was believed to have committed suicide. A spokesman for the U.S. Embassy, Michael Turner, confirmed the death of the 72-year-old actor. He said the embassy was informed by Thai authorities that Carradine died either late Wednesday or early Thursday, but he could not provide further details out of consideration for his family. The Web site of the Thai newspaper The Nation cited unidentified police sources as saying Carradine was …

Hi all, I went to China last year to shoot a 1 hour special for Discovery Channel Canada. We documented life in and around EUPA, which is a huge design and manufacturing facility that provides North America with small appliances such as The George Foreman Grill and many many others. I didn`t do anything special, sound-wise, but I did have the mini-Holophone plugged into the front inputs on the F-900 and I am curious to hear the results. You can see some behind the scenes pics on the link below, http://www.discoverychannel.ca/showpage.aspx?sid=17038 or on my Facebook page here- http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=60198&id=523646991&l=df6d60e11c …

This feature stopped working for me a week or so ago. Just tells me there are no new posts. I realize I can just scroll down on the main page and see what's been posted, but the 'show unread' feature works much better. Anyone else having a similar problem?

If anyone has noticed slight changes, like in text color, etc., I have been playing around with some things just to improve the look and hopefully function of this sight. Please report to me if anything really crazy happens (reports on the "Show unread posts..." bug are still okay, but I really don't know what to do about that). Regards, Jeff Wexler

Giving hope to those who did the pilots and those just looking for any work in general: ABC's pilot pickup spree Network gives nod to 5 dramas, 3 comedies By CYNTHIA LITTLETON ABC execs worked late Friday putting the pieces of the net's 2009-10 season sked together, handing out series orders to five new dramas and three comedies. "The ballots for SAG’s recently approved TV/theatrical contract won’t be going out until mid to late May, a source tells me, several weeks later than the early May target that the Guild stated as recently as a week or so ago. That means that ratification, if achieved as expected, will not come until early to mid June, since balloting is expected to be a three week process." FYI: The company that bought my company and Wexler Video has just bought two major post facilities. My new sister companies, Orbit and PostWorks are located in Los Angeles and New York City. I look forward to dealing with them in the near future. It should make for a great synergy for Coffey Sound to have immediate access to post answers and work flows. If anyone has their show being posted there, you will now have a friend on the inside working for you, me. Thought I'd share, since I can't be the only here "dipping" into savings or lines of credit to stay afloat during this work slowdown. My equity line of credit was just severely dropped without notice. Whereas I had over $100k available credit last week, today I have $2.5k. The banks says that the loan to value ratio has been reevaluated on all properties. I can dispute or re-submit to their underwriting department with...you guessed it...proof of current employment. DOH! There goes my safety net. And the belt tightens!! Just want you guys to be aware so you can check your own "plan B" Robert

After the total meltdown of the site and the heroic restoration of normal functioning, I have discovered that there are some slight incompatibilities with the theme we have been using. The newer version of SMF is not too happy with the old theme. Don't be surprised if things change, just a little, and please inform me if anything stops working properly for you. Regards, Jeff Wexler

SAG, AMPTP reach tentative deal Guild's national board to review this Sunday By DAVE MCNARY SAG and the congloms have reached a tentative agreement on the feature-primetime contract -- nearly 10 months after the previous deal expired. Both the Screen Actors Guild and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers made the announcement early Friday afternoon. SAG's national board is expected to approve the terms of the pact at its meeting this weekened -- triggering the mailing of ratification ballots to its 120,000 members. The deal comes following two months of back-channels talks between SAG toppers and moguls such as Disney's Robert Iger and News C…

SAG is poised to accept the same contract terms offered in June, and keep in mind that last Summer, the AMPTP offered to make the new deal retroactive to the expiration date of the previous deal, this deal is not retroactive at all, and begins upon ratification next month...Actors working under AFTRA contracts received a 3.5% pay increase in basic minimums in the first year of the new contract, which kicked in on July 1. SAG actors will receive a 3% hike for the first year, but there will be no retroactive 3.5% pay bump for actors who worked during the 10 months since SAG's previous contract expired on June 30. The majors, which estimate the loss at $67 million, just a…

SAG NATIONAL BOARD APPROVES TENTATIVE DEAL A badly split SAG national board approved a two-year tentative deal on its feature-primetime contract, triggering a ratification vote by the guild’s 120,000 members. The board’s approval came Sunday, two days after SAG execs and the congloms hammered out the final details of the pact. The biz is breathing a little easier now that SAG is on the verge of finalizing a film and TV contract with the majors. But the end of this tortuous yearlong negotiation process hardly means the end of strife within the Screen Actors Guild. The battles that raged internally and externally over the contract only heightened the intensity…

SAG, AFTRA reach commercial pact Union leaders approve three-year deal By DAVE MCNARY "On the heels of SAG's toppers reaching a tentative feature-primetime deal, SAG and AFTRA's elected leaders have unanimously endorsed a new three-year commercials pact. Move by the two actors unions - announced early Saturday afternoon -- will trigger a ratification vote among the 150,000 members. SAG's national board will meet this afternoon and Sunday in what's expected to be a fireworks-filled session over approving the tentative two-year film-TV deal. The guild hasn't yet released any details on that pact." http://www.variety.com/article/VR1118002578.html?categoryid=14&…
