Hello, As a recent recipient of a FCC Part 74 license I was evidently included in the recent T-mobile mailing of their certified letter notifications about their intent to use the 600MHz space. I am on the road, but have become aware that a USPS notice of an attempt to deliver was left on my door. I will not be available to travel to the post office to sign for and retrieve the letter before it is returned to sender. I am wondering how this circumstance relates to the FCC policy that my address of record needs to be current and accurate. My address is accurate and current (I have resided at the same location for 25+ years) but I am not avai…

The Apple Box!.. ended up buying one a few years ago, when the Boom op that the production gave me was only 5ft tall. I use this on just about every single production I've been on.. here's to the Apple Box! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZxI7knqFLiw&feature=share

I would imagine that this would be mostly the Mississippi River valley north to the Gulf of Mexico. How far on each side of the river this event will extend I do not know at this time, but checking with local state Ag extension service would be one place to start. https://dnyuz.com/2024/01/19/the-world-hasnt-seen-cicadas-like-this-since-1803/ If there was a good plan for deterrence beyond the clapping of dolly wedges that would help a number of us out in these locations.

If I do change the theme of this forum once again, everyone online at the time will probably have to reload the site with their browser or possibly even log out and log in. Hopefully everyone remembers their login name and password (or your browser remembers it for you). I am also considering changing the default theme to something I like but if others do not like it I will make it possible for each user to choose their own theme. Regards, Jeff Wexler

After the total meltdown of the site and the heroic restoration of normal functioning, I have discovered that there are some slight incompatibilities with the theme we have been using. The newer version of SMF is not too happy with the old theme. Don't be surprised if things change, just a little, and please inform me if anything stops working properly for you. Regards, Jeff Wexler

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Obama administration is calling on federal regulators to make more radio spectrum available for wireless Internet services to compete with broadband plans provided by the major phone and cable companies. The National Telecommunications and Information Administration says wireless connections offer the best hope for injecting new competition into the duopoly market for broadband services in the U.S. The NTIA, an arm of the Commerce Department, made its stance known on Monday in a letter to the Federal Communications Commission. The agency is offering its input as the FCC drafts a plan for bringing affordable high-speed Internet access to all…

Moog Music We are proud to announce the official release of the Theremini; a re-imagining of one of the oldest electronic musical instruments, and Bob Moog’s first love – the Theremin. It is the only known instrument that you play without touching. Moving your hands in the space around its antennas controls pitch and volume. The Theremini combines a powerful sound engine derived from Moog’s award winning synthesizer, Animoog, with the traditional no-touch playing of a Theremin. The Theremini’s sound engine captures the vast sonic vocabulary of Moog synthesizers and effects allowing for an infinite range of styles and tones. The front panel features a multi function …

Mark Capps showing us how he puts a mix together. The studio is The Sound Shop in Nashville, which was bulldozed a few years ago to make room for condo's. The console is a Trident Vector. Good stuff starts around :50 and is over by 4:00. I know nothing about the project or Larry Cappetto.

"This video proves every hit country song sounds the same." Well not really, but there are a lot of insipid sound alike bands on what used to be country and western radio. http://consequenceofsound.net/2015/01/this-video-proves-every-hit-country-song-sounds-the-same/ Here are the songs the writer chose for this mashup. - Florida Georgia Line’s “This Is How We Roll” – Luke Bryan’s “Drunk on You” – Parmalee’s “Close Your Eyes” – Blake Shelton’s “Sure Be Cool If You Did” – Chase Rice’s “Ready, Set Roll”

unreasonable expectations to be investigated ?? well sort of... " The New York City Council will hold public hearings June 25 to explore allegations of “sweatshop” working conditions at reality TV shows shot in the city. The overwhelming majority of nonfiction shows shot there are nonunion, with many workers complaining about long hours without overtime pay and no health benefits. " The WGA and DGA are on this, but what about IATSE and NABET ?? http://www.deadline.com/2014/06/new-york-reality-tv-working-conditions-city-council-hearings/

Has anyone played with the new Zaxcom RX200? It sounds like an amazing new receiver. I really like the idea of the wide band AND the fact that is transmits timecode. I would love some feedback if anyone has any.

Hello all, I was told by a fellow sound mixer that if I´m using a carbon fiber boom pole I´m more likely to get hit by a thunder and that aluminium boompoles are safer in that matter. My guess is that that is just when shooting outdoors right? What about indoors? I live in the middle of the desert so it is really weird when we have rain in here and I´ve never been in that position. Thanks in advance.
