Hello everyone! Hope you had a fantastic day of rest with family and friends this weekend. I am looking into getting either a new laptop or tablet, but not sure what to get for the best price around $300.00 (US). Requirements: (aside from cost effective): Universal connectivity (meaning I can swap SD cards to increase memory and import/export data from one terminal to another like hard drives or smart phones). Capable to use programs such as Wave Agent, or record to Computer type programs, Boom Recorder or similar being of of them. I apologize if I am being vague, I tend to do that. Please feel free to ask me to clarify anything am not making clear. …

Has anyone used lockstep by figure 53 to slave the pt transport to Ltc? How reliable was it? Would it ever glitch and cause transport errors? I'm considering it as one possible solution, and I thought I'd get some user feedback before I buy it and try it out . Thanks for your thoughts.

hello Somebody uses programs like Audio Finder, Soundminer, Library Monkey Pro. I'm looking for the right browser to keep ordered in my sound library. I saw that Audio Finder does not handle metadata very accurately, but you can drag the files directly on the timeline of protools. I would like to be able to manage all my sound archive with a single database. Can anyone recommend me a program?

So I've tested FreqFinder on iOS 8 on my iPod touch and the simulators that Apple provides, but I don't have a physical iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus to test on. Does anyone have an iPhone 6 and FreqFinder? Does anyone have an iPhone 6 and wants FreqFinder?

I have a Mac Mini (2012) and the power button has become intermittent. The mini will start after maybe the 10th or the 20th push of the power button. A while ago I replaced my internal drive with an SSD, using the OWC step by step video. The power button functioned perfectly after my installation, but now it's' problematic. Any local Mac whizzes in the L.A. area? Many independent computer repair places are either reluctant to do it or charge too much money. I'm sure the Mac Genius Bar will try to sell me a new logic board and it would be easier to just buy a new or refurbished Mac-Mini. Any help would be appreciated.

hey gang, I finished my site a few days ago on iweb and so far so good. I realized today that the photo album page no longer functions as desired. It did before, and I have not messed with it, so Im a little confused why it would why. The "slide show button" is no longer active, and when you move the cursor over the individual photographs it changes to the hand, but once you click on it nothing happens. Again It functioned properly a few days ago, and seemingly out of nowhere, it now doesn't. Any pointers?? http://web.mac.com/indaudio

Mac Mini for cart

I am considering buying my first Mac, a Mini, for the cart. I am thinking about using a 12" (or so) touch-screen monitor as the user interface. This is a question for the Mac guys on the group; which version of this "box" will run some WinXP apps that I will still want to use in this production dedicated machine? Does the G4 1.4G with superdrive have the Intel CPU? Thanks.

every time i have upgraded the os on my ipad 1 i have noticed a resulting overall slowness in the browser. it has recently come to my attention that the upgrades are tweaked for the processors of the newest ios devices and running the upgrades on older devices results in problems. when this occurs the natural solution would be to downgrade to the previous ios and resolve the problem. however, apple does not allow that and while it has some good reasons to do so the downside is that many devices are forced into obsolescence. there are workarounds for these problems and they are sometimes specific to the ios versions you have on your device, but, from what i…

Hey, Scott, have you noticed a problem with the -play slideshow- feature on your iWeb produced photo pages? One of my sites that is hosted on my .Mac (now Me.Com) account is behaving badly after this transition to Me.Com, MobileMe, etc. Anyone else having problems updating sites hosted on their Apple accounts? What do you know? Regards, Jeff Wexler

I've been using an app called Duet to extend the screen of my MacBook Pro with an iPad via a USB cable, which has been working well for me, but has some problems with Yosemite, apparently. A colleague alerted me to the fact that Air Display, which used to work only via a wireless network, now is has a Version 3, which can also use a USB cable and seems to be pretty stable. For an expenditure of around $15 (£10.99 UK) it's a pretty good deal. Regards, John

So I've been thinking about it for a while now, and I want to try and incorporate a Mac Mini into my cart. So here's a preliminary shopping list: 1 - Mac Mini. (2.0 GHz with superdrive and max out the Ram) 2 - Touchscreen monitor (still narrowing down the choices, maybe the Ikan V8000T) Or suggestions ? 3 - Power adaptor. Thinking of this PSU: CarNetix P2140 http://www.carnetix.com/P2140/CNXP2140.htm 4 - Keyboard / Mouse. What are people using ? What would fit nicely on a cart ? 5 - Mac Mini mount. looking at this one : http://h-sq.com/products/minimount/index.html Some questions I have for those already running a mini on there cart. What kind of screen reso…

I know this operating system is super antiquated but my son is using one of my old laptops for homeschooling during this pandemic. Was curious to know if anyone here is using a VPN on this operating system? I have contacted various pay software people but still waiting for responses. Most are only supporting 10.11 and up. I am using express VPN otherwise. They have a manual set up that I’m currently trying to figure out

New iPhone app: "Sonoma Wire Works's FourTrack ($9.99, iPhone and 2G iPod Touch only) is a multitrack audio recorder with four tracks (record one while listening to the others), unlimited length, 16-bit/44.1KHz quality, calibrated meters, fade and pan, clipping lights, time line display, shuttle, Wi-Fi sync, and more" Probably just a toy. I haven't looked at it. - JW

Does anyone know how to power a MacBook Pro off of battery power, ie Meon or other DC battery backup system? I would like to wire the power cable to a 4pin XLR connector so I can run it to a hot strip or a Meon. Thanks.

For those interested, Apple has seen a meteoric rise in market share over the last year or so. Here are some of the figures: According to preliminary data from NPD, Apple reportedly achieved 14 percent of the U.S. retail PC market share in February 2008, up from 9% just a year ago. This represents 60 percent unit growth and 67 percent revenue growth year-over-year. Mac Notebook sales were up 64% year-over-year and Mac Desktops up 55% year-over-year, with strong sales of the MacBook Air this February. In 2001, Apple launched their retail store initiative with the slogan "5% down, 95% to go", referring to market share. - JW

Well, things are getting interesting! I enjoyed reading Jason Snell's post "Exile from Dongletown". MagSafe is back, more ports, improved keyboard after all their problems... And an insane processor with more dramatic peformance increases than most people realize. The memory bandwidth of the Max version is incredible.

Just a heads up..... It seems like quite a few of us host personal/resume sites on mac.com accounts, so you should all know they will be shut down in June 2012. With iCould becoming a free service in the Fall, they are phasing out MobileMe/iTools/whatever. iWeb won't be updated again, and the one click updating will be gone. In theory the current iWeb should keep running under 10.7, but you would need host it elsewhere. Kind of a bummer! I haven't figured out what I'm going to do yet. I have done hand coded HTML sites, PHP etc but iWeb is so easy to make a clean site that's easy to update. It doesn't get a lot of traffic, but the traffic it does get is often…

I see that the iPad has an accessory that allows a CF card to be directly connected to it. Given enough memory, would it be possible to copy several gigs of audio off the card to the iPad, then transfer that audio to another CF card? Does the iPad have anything like the Mac laptop "target mode", where it can be hooked up to another computer as a storage device? The iPad has USB i/o--could a USB hub work on that port (and would the iPad "see" two CF readers w/ two cards at the same time)? thanks phil p

from MacRumors quoting Wired: "Wired claims that Apple will be launching a new version of its Mac mini computer at Macworld Expo San Francisco in January. Wired cites an Apple corporate employee as the source who could only confirm a release date at Macworld Expo. The Mac mini has been long overdue for updates leading many to assume that it had been abandoned by Apple. Recent reports have indeed suggested that a Mac mini update is imminent. The author speculates the new Mac mini will adopt many of the recent physical and environmental improvements in physical design as well as include the newly introduced mini Display Port." - Jeff Wexler

Any ideas on how to do this? This is easy on XP - though lots of people don't know about it. Also, I have never been able to figure out if I can use the keyboard shortcuts menu on the System Preferences pane to do this. It simply won't work. I'd be happy if i can say - hit Apple-Option-C to start the calculator. -vin
