Since Jeff posted a photo of me and Emma Barham, who assisted Jeff on The Last Samurai, I though this photo would raise a few laughs. It was taked at the request of Gordon Moore (VP-Sales) to be used as a publicity photo for Lectrosonics. Virginia Hey (Zhaan) wore a DPA on her forehead, covered by the leading edge of her head scarf. This was taken just before her final appearance on the show. Cheers, David Glasser

Otro miembro de la producción fue esta iguana, siempre presente en el carrito de Robert, uno de los sonidistas. Roughly translated - "Another member of the crew was the iguana (actually a bobble-head Stegosaurus wearing mini Comteks), always present on Robert's cart, one of our sound guys." and Cuatro sonidistas se encargaron de que todo sonara perfecto. - "Four sound guys were responsible for the perfect sound" (a massive overstatement!) This is from Univision.com promoting "Vidas Cruzadas" the Spanish language novella I "mixed" (recorded) a few months ago.

This was on "The Postman Always Rings Twice", 1981 which Art Rochester mixed and Rick Thornton was the boom operator. Doing this scene in the rain, an improvised protective cover for the Rycote windscreen was built from hogs hair. The hogs hair covering works to disipate the water hitting the mic and thereby lessening the noise of the rain on the mic (but eventually the water passes through and ges through the Rycote and to the mic).

Also on "The Postman Always Rings Twice" here you see Rick with a mic in the EV (Electro-Voice) "football" windscreen

The camera is in the picture boat but there was a nearby "follow boat" where most likely Art Rochester may have been riding with the recorder. It is possible that Art was on the shore and it was one of the rare instances of wireless boom in those days.

I Just stumbled over this and thought I'd share it. I Wonder, what the sound person thought that moment. The interesting part is from minute 2:38 to 2:58. https://www.zdf.de/comedy/heute-show/van-der-horst-und-die-cdsu-102.html URL to Video file It is from a German weekly political parody show "heute show". Quick translation: Reporter: Mr Söder, come to the CDSU, thats your only career chance now! Söder: Many thanks, May we keep it? (the mic) Reporter: No Söder: I see, but we've paid the fees. (referencing public radio licence fees, the ones that finance the show) Reporter: When Kosmala (the featured guy in the clip questioning Sö…

This was on the set of Spring Break Massacre where I was a sound assistant. I didn't even know what was going on behind me.

The Georgia soldiers are very friendly, and it was nice to see them allowing the children in the VERY small Georgian village near Tsalka to explore the military gear.

http://natgeofound.tumblr.com/ Along with earning a reputation for publishing some of the world’s finest photojournalism over the years, National Geographic has accrued a backlog of unpublished photos as vast as the Kalahari. To mark the Yellow Box’s 125th birthday this year, its editors launched a Tumblr to highlight some of its otherwise forgotten images. Found is Nat Geo’s productivity-killing photostream, drawn from its sprawling archive of unpublished vintage prints. “If we haven’t seen them, it’s likely that they aren’t known outside the offices of National Geographic,” says Web Barr, the young designer at Nat Geo who conceived of Found. “Figuring out a way to…

I will try to find a better photo of it later, but this is my latest version of cart, the 7" monitor is not in place yet and there are some other stuff that will get some room in there later. Amongst other things I'm thinking of a mac mini as so many others here. /Oscar
