This was by far my most challenging job to date. Three camera shoot. 778T/CL8, 9 wireless lavs, camera hop, IFB xmit, 2 NP1 batts for the bds and a mixpre. And the coil-y standing by for the boom. Gotta love "reality shows." One PA to share among camera, sound, and production. Two 14 hour days. Thank the good Lord it was only a two day shoot. Next weekend there will only be 4 talent. I think I'll put the rcvrs on the cameras, turn on AGC, and just change batteries. I think I heard someone say "What doesn't kill us makes us stronger."

I'd like to share with you my soundcart in the making. EMS-flightcases (ABS material, like SKB) should carry my 788t, CL9, Senn.G2 IEM, Video-monitor in the upper case, the lower case has two 3he lockable drawers for stuff like radio-mikes, lavs, extra boommic, accesories etc.. I build this cart with having in mind the wireless receivers outside the cart, to be placed near the filmset. Forgive me for the low quality cellphone-pic. Hope you like it, Diego

Hi, this is our new Rastorder It got some miles lately on 3 European Featurefilms . I must say we are really happy with it, the modular Idea is really working well (being able to cut the cart in 2) Therefore we powered everything from 2 Vlock-videocamerastyle batteries on the top module. So Far, so good Thank you very much Rastorder !

For anyone who hasn't done live broadcast sports or golf this video shows what it takes to televise golf. As someone who has done lots of golf for tv it really is like doing the superbowl every week with more cameras then a superbowl too http://youtu.be/s_vctGv38VA

Field Day is held every year,June26th-27th across North America. It gives hams and ham clubs a chance to try their skills under emergency situtations, ( no hydro power) equipment can only be powered by generators, battery or solar. In the United States, it is typically the largest single emergency preparedness exercise in the country, with over 30,000 operators participating each year. A friend gave me a call the night before and asked if I would come over with my DSLR and get some shots, so I had very little time to plan out how I would shoot the event. So I decided I would shoot it doc. style, no retakes,no back to ones,no going again, just go with the flow. In the day ti…

Hello. I'm Philippe Vandendriessche, from the french speaking part of Belgium. I plan to send you some photographs of my sound cart. I ordered some transformations and the cart is actually in Paris. You can have a look at the builder website here: http://www.camagrip.fr/Produits/Detail%20roulante%20VDD.htm and also the cart "on the set" inside an interview about my work here (french speaking): http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x8k7tm_ingenieur-son-philippe-vandendriess_shortfilms I work with Cantar + Cantarem. The cart enters in 4 pieces in the trunk of my Saab 93 "Sports Hatch" car. The current transformations are a new shelf for the receivers an…

Thought this may be of interest to the group. This was a backpack sound cart that I used in Puerto Rico. It is a combo backpack frame, hand truck and projector stand. It was built and designed by "Peco" Louise Landrau. He worked with me as Utility in PR. Peco and his uncle built the cart to work in the rainforest, beach and other locations when a rolling cart is not practical. It made some of our challenging locations very civilized and easy to manage without having to work out of a bag. Whit

Here are some CAD drawings of my forthcoming Sound Cart (hopefully available end this month). Last chance to send me your ideas and feature requests before a final design is locked down. Made of aluminium the cart is extremely light-weight yet very strong. It has been primarily designed as a bag cart however it would be suitable for those that need a compact "grown-up" cart (max load 25kg). It features a total of 18u storage (3x 6u) in addition to 3u dedicated to video monitor use (which can be angled). Because standard 19" racking is employed, you can customise it using any 19" gear (shelves, drawers etc.). There will be a range of optional extras for things such as bo…

I though I'd share my own modifications of my headphones with you. The pink Red pads you can get at a few places but you really need to glue the top pads in with a flexible glue, something like bostik. The 3.5mm jack mod is so that I don't have to put up with adapter cables as I don't like using 3.5mm to 6.3mm adapters, I can now have a selection of cables, and I can even use a short cable with angled jacks and have a 2nd Gen iPod shuffle clipped to the headband and go wireless! As I'd replaced the cable just down from the split some time before, part of this was all because they needed to be properly terminated as cable to cable soldering isn't great at the best of…

I was inspired by the picture of Eric Lamontagnes funky looking panel van to start this thread. Please post pics of your Sound cars/vans/trucks. It would be great to see how everyone deals with loading / unloading, transporting and securing there gear. I know i saw a picture on the trew Website of a converted ambulance a sound mixer has in Toronto !
