So you hear the director yell "Jets!" - This is because one actor said to another actor after the first few takes, "What's our cue to look up at the jets?" Ummm... perhaps when the JETS fly 150 feet over your heads! I their defense, we shot this a few days earlier without the jets because of bad weather, and they were all given a cue to look together. But without being told what to do... kinda reminds me of this great clip from "Extras". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=43sbtkQM6zc

For those who know him, and even more important, those that don't, Vilmos says a bunch in a short interview about the art of film craft. It shouldn't take long to read, even for non readers... The film "The Jazz Singer" from 1927 is typically credited for ushering in the era of sound for film. I however, like to give credit to the iconic MGM lion from 1924. Does anyone know the name of the sound engineer in this picture as he's surely deserving of our remembrance?

So I was recently admitted into the hospital for a week (in the beginning of December) because I had an abscess on my hand that turned out to be a staph infection (the bacteria was the MRSA strain.) Doc said I could have picked it up from anywhere because staph bacteria are EVERYWHERE. This is a picture of my hand after they opened it up in the ER and drained out the blood and puss that had filled my hand (the white tail is sterile packing.) Every day, 4 times a day, they had to remove the packing, clean it out and repack it. Most pain I've ever felt in my life. Very scary at the time, but am back on my feet now. So remember, WASH YOUR HANDS often (or sanitize.)

Relatively new to JW site. Fantastic forum and no SPAM! I've spent the last few days looking at most all the 'images' and reading comments, like a book you can't put down. By the way "Being There" is an all time favorite movie of mine and my friends, love to hear more set stories of shooting it. Thought I'd post a pic of a wet audio situation I just faced in Key Biscayne, Miami. Was asked to mic a couple of jet pack flyers in flight over Biscayne Bay. Ended up using Lectro MM400c with Countryman B-6 lavs in overcoats safety pinned to outside of shirt, but inside the pack harness. Put transmitters in surgical gloves with antennas down a finger loaded with fresh Lit…

Watch out for those 🕵️♀️ http://sandlab.cs.uchicago.edu/jammer/ The video seems broken, the German tech news site Golem has it. https://video.golem.de/audio-video/24095/wearable-microphone-jammer.html However, the video is less interesting than the question, how this works... and on what mics.

This was several scenes that was shot in one take, this actor was amazing! 95% of the lines were his. He did the speech over twenty times, I’ve never seen anything like it.

We were rigging in this field, but the vehicle was driven by an 18-year-old actor on public roads in a state park, with no ranger or police escort or supervision of any kind, and with traffic (albeit light) flowing freely in both directions. Robert

When the VOG speaker failed in the middle of nowhere (a former Soviet base, current squatter/refugee village, in the country of Georgia), a fortunate mini jack input on the locally sourced production bullhorn saved the day.
