Because no bag is on the market for the Cantar X3 yet.... I designed my own. With a "little" help from professionals as 'De Herrieboerderij' aka Kees Schouten in Amsterdam witch helped me with the aluminium frame, and a my new friend Andrea Monti from The Guild of Holland, he made the leather parts. Because the AudioLTD rack3 with Rx2040's, like almost all receivers, is to high I made a little frame to hang a front bag from. This front bag, when sitting on the ground, blocks some faders/knobs/buttons. But when I carry the bag it drops 4 cm, and everything is accessible again. The two leather straps can be released quickly and all mic and line in's become accessible. Her…

I thought it might be interesting to post the various camera rigs we have come across in our daily travels. I know we are all interested in our carts, but maybe a topic for Camera rigs can help some see different ways the camera department skin a cat. I know there are some crazy ones, with several already posted in other topics. Considering the most recent "advancement" in camera technology, and it's hot topic, here's my entry. I didn't work with this, but just saw it and made me think of this topic.

Jeff has a gallery of carts in menu, under "gallery", but it might be cool to post photos here too. reason being that you can edit your comments and change your phots as your cart changes. I have a cart in gallery from 2008 (1st photo). Very different from my cart now (3rd photo). Biggest changes are Mackie to Solice, Boom Recorder to 788T, dinosaur sits on added BST75-216, added another Venue, added 2 c-stand top sections to hold flags and a new antenna mast, and it's dirtier! And I found this grainy picture (night shoot) taken on my first feature, with DV824, modified 12v Mackie, one monitor, and laptop for fun. My cart has served me well!

Here is my work in progress for my 2nd cart for breakaway filming or small jobs. I subscribe to the 2 cart option for Feature Films where my studio or large cart stays intact and i have this cart for quick and small breakaway shooting. The main criteria that its cable free. If i want to see the action I move the cart closer not attach a monitor. I kept it small and bare bones so it doesn't end up the same size as my main cart. The camera bag on the back is for TRX900's 742 and radio mic mounting stuff The bag at the bottom contains all batteries with V Locks through a 12v Audio Root regulator to power the Rf amp and Audio Root batts for the rest of …

Low rez and chopped up audio (can't wait for a full res or theatre viewing)... but still cool... about 44 seconds in, you will see a shot captured by my RC car rig... see photo attached. I drove the RC car on take one, but flipped it and decided to hand the controls over to the director, Mark, who got this on take 3 or 4. We were given 10 minutes to try the shot, and had no rehearsal or discussion on how we were going to get it (i.e. how fast the truck would drive, how fast the RC car could go, or how fast the moped we were chasing {seen in front of the truck} should drive, etc.) - I never thought the shot would make the movie, but it has at least made the trailer. W…

Matt Bacon, UK SoundMixer, has built a new follow cart using aluminum profiles. Unique design with large wheels that can be mounted either inboard or outboard. Several of my sound carts have inboard wheels providing a really narrow footprint. If you haven't already, you can view this cart and hundreds more at the Gallery of Sound Carts

Here are some CAD drawings of my forthcoming Sound Cart (hopefully available end this month). Last chance to send me your ideas and feature requests before a final design is locked down. Made of aluminium the cart is extremely light-weight yet very strong. It has been primarily designed as a bag cart however it would be suitable for those that need a compact "grown-up" cart (max load 25kg). It features a total of 18u storage (3x 6u) in addition to 3u dedicated to video monitor use (which can be angled). Because standard 19" racking is employed, you can customise it using any 19" gear (shelves, drawers etc.). There will be a range of optional extras for things such as bo…

This is the cart from our latest production. The Cooper was out on another feature so we had to build something with better pre-amps than the 788 itself for the two boom-mikes. So we took our old Nagra and used it as a pre-amp for the boom-poles and lined it to the 788. It was a crazy build, but the Nagra delivered!

Hi All, I've received a few requests to 'show my stuff'. But you're all a bunch of cheapskates. Not one $5 bill in my g string! (but I'll check the rest of my guitar when I get a chance). Anyway, here's the messy cart with my new Deva 16 and Mix 12. Also includes 8 Zaxcom radios, 2 Audio Ltd receivers, rf splitter amp, Comtek transmitter, Zaxcom IFB, WinRadio Spectrum Analyzer, 2 monitors, Mac Mini, Power Supplies and Distro, Antenna Mast for UHF and 2.4 gHz, Comtek Antenna, Presonus Firebox, etc. This cart covers just about all my recording and playback needs. It weighs in at 210 lbs. Now if I can only figure out how to get the pictures on here.... Hmmm,…

There was a picture somewhere on the old JWSound site that had the sound department on a wagon leading a car maybe? The sound department were wearing lab coats. Anyone know where that is? I wanted to show somebody.... thanks!

Here is a pic of my soundcart I buildt a few years back. Still being improved, of coarse. It is based on magliner, modified with shelves and stands for booms, antennas etc. It can hold two 35 Ah batterys but usually I only use one, the other batteryholder goes to the wireless utility bag, wich is the same size. Two lentequip cabledrums can also fit on the bottom, giving easily 50m of video cable if needed. It can either hold my Ad 256 or as here a drawerkit. In this production I need quickly to go off-cart so the mixer is too fuzzy. All the antennasplits are done in the bag. So one has to switch the powersource and replace the sharkfins with wips, mounted on the harness, …

HAPPY HEALTHY NEW YEAR ALL Everyone seems to love cart pictures. I know I do. Here’s mine: I built it in 2000, six months start to finish. My friends let me move into their machine shop for two months during the actor’s strike. It’s all aluminum, mostly ½ x 1 tubing, V cut, welded and ground, machine parts and powder coated. It’s on aircraft suspension.

This is my second modification to my PSC Sound Cart. I removed all PSC shelves except for the top and the handle level shelf which is the extended shelf. I bought two rack mount shelves for the recorders. 1 is 2 rack spaced and the other is 3 but 17" long so it extends to the back of the cart rails. It is an easy modification and rather inexpensive to do. 2 8' aluminum angle pieces cut to length. I put two pieces of the angle aluminum back to back so my rack rails are recessed. Keeps my equipment safe when transporting it. It stands a little less then 50". The version I had before stood 54" which was a bit two high. I might be able to cut it down a few more inches if I us…
