Next week is our 15th anniversary...holy cow. For some fun, we are looking for the user with the oldest Sound Devices product still in use. That user will get a token of our appreciation. Since day one, our serial number syntax has remained the same, and it includes the date built. Attached is an example, which happens to be the very first serialized product we ever made, still sealed and sitting on the shelf in the conference room next to the labeled "Sound Devices" box. Recorded earlier this month, popular Japanese singer Yamazaki Masayoshi recorded his live concert using TASCAM gear for the 2nd year running. Last year used 24 channels of UH-7000 and DA-3000 at 192kHz, this year he used 24 channels of HS-P82s for a more compact system. The high resolution mix is available for purchase online in Japan. Take a listen to the difference between our two automix choices, Dugan and MixAssist, on the 688, and see how simple frequency scans are when initiated from the 688 with an SL-6 and compatible SuperSlot receiver. On a personal note, in 1991, my first NAB, I was with Shure. Shure introduced the FP410, the very first battery-powered automatic mixer, at that show. I built the show demo for it with a four-track cassette machine running on an endless loop cassette tape for the demo audio source. Here we are in 2016 again highlighting automatic mixing technology. In case you didn't plow through all the previous posts in the HMa announcement thread that started in January, HMA is shipping now and due to popular demand, responds to the RM tone controls. No Sleep or Unsleep (the hardware is not on the board for that) but you can exert the other commands (freq, level, LF rolloff etc). Because the levels cover a wider range, New Endian has been notified of the change so they can add the additional level commands. Not sure when or if there is a new version available. But you can always use the incremental adjustment until then.
