Mix Ahead Zaxcom has invented a new tool to aid in the recording of production sound tracks or any audio that requires a personal mixing touch that can only be improved with the advantage of knowing the future. Why does post discard your mix track only to remix it from isolated tracks? The answer is that a production sound mixer does not have the same advantage that post has. Post can look at the ISO tracks and make a mix that will perfectly anticipate every transition of the faders. . The location sound mixers main job is to make a mix track. If that job has to be redone the majority of the time then the job comes down to track gathering n…

The time has finally come! After extensive design revisions based on user feedback and beta testing, we have started shipping the KSRA2 Stingray bag for the Sound Devices 664. They are on their way to our dealers right now and should be showing up on their doorsteps soon. We are also shipping out the back orders of the KSRA1 Stingray for the Sound Devices 633 and Zaxcom Maxx, the bag that started the new trend in audio bags. We are very excited to be getting these out and thank all of our customers for their support. If you haven't contacted your dealer to get yours reserved, you better do it now, as these are going fast.

I started a new thread on this since the earlier one was straying off on tangents. We took a long look at the HMa and it looks like we can add dweedle tone controls for frequency, mic levels and maybe roll off. We cannot mute or enable a Sleep mode, the circuits are not there to support those functions. Adding those circuits at this time would mean huge delays and additional, very costly approvals testing since we are already 99% finished with those tests at the lab (and have paid heavily to do so). So, we have "pulled the trigger" on writing the code. It remains to be seen if the new code will be immediately available when we begin shipping but the HMa has a nice …

What is the delay / what's the big deal?! C'mon Sanken, join Countryman and DPA already! Sanken COS-11s are great. Yes they get "dull" over time and the cable is microphonic, but they get the job very well. The standard black dot ("black band") 0dB lavs are the perfect sensitivity 90% of the time; the red dots come out for rare bellowing lines. But what about when the actor is wearing a red dot COS with the SM dialed down to 0, and I'm still getting limiting and distortion? Well that's when the blue dot B6s come out. Which completely changes the tone, and besides I don't always like people on B6s. I know a large-budget feature mixer who has a r…
