Starting July 1st Lectrosonics products (when the ship) will now have an exciting new product design. Back Lit LCD's will be available on SM, HM, and WM (when they ship) transmitters. This is a feature that has been requested for some time. Some new units have been shipping with the feature. I can think of one pleasantly surprised customer who discovered this last week. HOWEVER, "Due to the difference in part costs between the old and new displays, along with the cost of re- designing the circuits and housings for these transmitters; there is a cost increase, effective July 1, 2012, for these products: each will increase $75 unilateral, and $100 …

Gday I met Sig Guzman, the Operations manager of Backstage Equipment, at SMPTE show in Sydney recently. He was on Lemacs stand. He's a nice bloke, we had a long chat about manufacturing stuff etc. He has sent me his moded Toolflex holder & a boom pole cup. The mod on the Toolflex is a little swish red arm that as you push your boom pole into the Toolflex, it locks it in there. What is also good is the slotted section that it and the boom pole box are attached to. They can be used on any shelf with a lip, including the RastOrder foldup carts. That slotted section deserves to be an accessory in its own right. RS

I challenge any bag or accesory manufacturer to make a waterproof bag cover that is light, packs small, deploys while on the run and can actually operate the mixer with ease under it. Thinking of a backpack style rain cover that has elastic ir draw cord around it that covers the front and sides of the bag with a clear viynl top flap that you can easily get hand under to operate. Eg. Petrol clear top organizer bag cover that has an elastic wrap around ripstop bag for the front and sides.

There are some photos around here of the belt clips I have been using on my Zaxcom transmitters. I have updated the design and am having them machine made so the quality and consistency is much better than the hand bent wireforms I was making. The clip has also been moved up on the transmitter to allow access to the batteries without removing the clip. The clips are now available through your regular dealer, or through me directly. These are designed to fit the TRX, ERX, and ZFR series products. I haven't tested all of the Zaxcom lines, but feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

This Board has been established for any and all individuals who, by reason of affiliation or ownership of companies, have encountered difficulties posting to discussion groups and Usenet newsgroups. It is open as well to any and all of those individuals who have NOT had difficulties but would like to post things here. This Board is open to all postings of any kind, either under the banner of a company (an equipment manufacturer, a dealer, a rental house) or as an individual who may be associated with a company. The only restriction I will mention at the outset is that this is not the place for companies to use for free advertising as would be appropriate on a company run …

Hello everyone, I changed the ballistics of the RMS/VU meter, it is now a little less twisty. I also added 32 float recording to BWF files, I have no idea how many edit programs will handle this, but 32 bit floating point is the format in which Boom Recorder receives the audio data from Core Audio. And a couple of other small changes. Cheers, Take

Hello everyone, I would like to spend this opportunity to tell you about the new version of Boom Recorder. This new version of Boom Recorder now handles 64 channels, instead of the previous 32 channels. Although most people doing feature film work would probably not need 64 channels, it seems to be that for recording concerts this is quite useful. This change did come at a cost, instead of using only 200 MB it now uses around 400 MB of memory. I know that many people here already have a lot of memory in their computer, so I hope this is not a problem. Cheers, Take Vos

Hello everyone, I made a lot of changes in the core of this version, which is why I updated the major version number. I moved the timecode decoder to a separate file, in case I want to use it for an other project. I also changed the ring buffer handler so that It is more simpler, this also caused the ring buffer to keep a pre-record buffer even during playback. I also fixed the ring buffer view for this state (pre-record buffer + playback) and fixed the glitches in this view as well, it shouldn't be flickering anymore. I also added new timecode sources, as many people have been asking for time-of-day. I tried to be as accurate as possible, time-of-day is converte…

Hello everyone, I have been working a little bit on the new version of Boom Recorder. Someone who uses MADI had asked me for complete input and output routing and mixing. In this new version it is possible to assign one or more inputs for each channel, and attenuating each assignment separately. Setting the attenuation level is currently only possible using AppleScript. Currently attenuation can changed with increments of 1 dB, between 0 and 254 dB. Is this accurate enough for mixing? Cheers, Take

Hello everyone, I have released the latest Boom Recorder, version 8. This is the first time I will charge for an update to Boom Recorder and I will try to get it on Apple's App Store. It is not yet in the app store, but if you like you can now buy Boom Recorder 8 from my own website: http://www.vosgames.nl/ One last thing, version 8 will only work on OS X Lion. As I mentioned before the biggest changes are in the meter bridge, with vertical meters and maximum peak meter. Below follows a complete list of changes: - Adding AppleScript state property, which may be polled to show the current Boom Recorder state. - Boom Recorder is now build with xc…

Hello everyone, I have a customer who uses an Intel mac with Boom Recorder. When he records with "Core Audio Format (.caf)" Boom Recorder crashes at the end of the recording. Could someone with a Intel mac try this and see if it crashes for you as well? I've been looking at this problem for some time now, and I can not find the cause of the problem. The problem does not appear when running Boom Recorder in Rosetta. I would like to know if this problem is systematic for all Intel Macs or only on his setup. Cheers, Take

Hi Take, Was using Boom Recorder today and had something come up that I would love to see changed. We had real confusion with the scripty today and the scene numbers weren't being called out correctly. I kept having to adjust, sometimes in mid-take. One time (not exactly sure what the sequence of events was) I ended up entering a duplicate scene and take number. When I stopped recording, BR correctly informed me that the file already existed, and that the recording was being aborted, resulting in a lost take. Would it be possible in that situation to prompt the user to rename the file rather than just abort the recording? BTW, I love the feature where you ren…

Hello everyone, I am planning on releasing Boom Recorder version 6 this weekend, after doing some test to see if everything works as expected and seem to be stable using my system. The new version will include a couple of new time sources, including time-of-day, which a lot of people seem to be waiting for (weird how such a request come from multiple customers at the same time). An other feature was created by cleaning up some of the ring buffer code, Boom Recorder will now keep the pre record buffer, even during playback. This cleanup also solves some issues with the recording indicator, which sometimes was flickering off and on during recording, which does not instil…

Have you ever been in a situation on set where you were holding a boom pole and wished you had an extra hand? Maybe you were mixing and booming and needed to adjust levels? Maybe you have to follow along in the script while booming and need to turn the page? Or maybe you've just finished a long take and you want to give your arms a break without fully collapsing the boom pole? While we can't actually give you a third hand, the Boomhanger gets pretty darn close. Made from sturdy ABS plastic, the Boomhanger clips to the straps of your sound bag harness to give you a convenient place to mount your boom pole and control it with only one arm. Even fully extended, the Boom…

Hi everyone, I often hear sound engineers asking about how can they test coax cables or how can they know attenuation in order to set properly the gain of an active antenna. The PM-1, a compact Broadband RF Power meter, can do the job and more... More informations coming soon! Have a good day. Ch.

Hey everyone, Kathrine and Poul from Bubblebee had sent me the specs from the wind test for the Cub and COS-11 and had ask me to post these. These are the official testings from a outside company. My personal unofficial test of the beta model for the Cub have been excellent! I have been very impressed when we have used it on some of the car work on the current project. The size works great for camera as far as hiding it. I'm sure Kathrine will be happy to answer any questions about this info. Cheers, Whit Microphone Windjammer measurements_carried by Delta-1.pdf
