Hi everyone, We recently had the pleasure to talk to Production Sound Mixer, James Sieczka. After working in Asia for many years and learning from Oscar winners Greg Curda and Emmy winner Les Wolf, he returned to the States to partner with Noise Boys LLC. We're really grateful for the interview and tips he shares with us. The interview shares some great insights of what it takes to move along the career path of a professional sound engineer. http://rycote.com/microphone-windshield-shock-mount/interview-with-james-sieczka/ They'll be more interviews to follow - I hope you enjoy it. Cheers, Simon Simon Davies Rycote Microphone Windshields LtdE. simon@rycote.com

During the early years of using my brand new Sonosax SX-8 I suffered from sticky faders. Now removing faders, taking them apart, cleaning with dry fluon and lubing the slider rod with the correct material and putting them back is quite a lengthy task. I contacted P&G directly and they sent some sample bushes to solve the problem. Great it was the perfect solution! So I asked to buy some more and was told by P&G that as I had faders that were were not using these bushes that therefore I could not purchase them!!! I replied saying that you sent them to me a a solution and it worked.! No go, so I contacted the Australian rep and got them that way. Does any o…

I am in need of some advice. I'm having problems with a brand new piece of equipment I purchased and the manufacturer (name currently withheld) has not responded to the multiple contacts from the dealer, and has not responded to my personal contacts either. I am all set to publicly call them out as I can't think of any other way in getting them to possibly pay attention. Has anyone run into problems like this? What should I do?

I have two pairs of LT/LRs and after using them two weeks I have a question. The LR scan seems optimized for only one channel. I settled on turning all transmitters off during the first scan. Then, leave the first transmitter on and do a scan for the second channel and so on. Seems to work and FreqFinder hasn't reported any IM conflicts yet. Question: Are IM products somehow calculated in the above scenario? Sennheiser G3 scan lists consist of bands that are IM compatible but this doesn't seem to be the case with the L-series. It'd be nice to not have to do the FreqFinder step.

Hi Folks, I post here occasionally, and certainly read a lot. My main business is scoring and doing audio post, but we also do location audio from time to time. Our work in film and TV has lead us to record a lot sounds for our work. Not to compete with our friends who also do this, but for years we have been recording things for our pleasure and use in many of the films we work on. Many of our recordings are unique to our area or unique in the world of sound library collections, so it adds to the community. Now we've reached critical mass of at least 15 libraries of varying sizes so we've built a site and prepped a few packages. Many of you do post, so maybe some of…

Just a quick note that we have opened the books today to accept orders for the new SSM transmitter and will begin shipping units out tomorrow. As you can imagine, there are far more orders that what we can ship from this first batch (about a 3:1 ratio, actually), so we will be allocating the "hot" orders first by working closely with the dealers. The next batch should be ready in 4-6 weeks. Cheers!

Hi all,I wanted to share a new mixing plug-in we've created for the post production world! It's called RX Final Mix, includes an EQ with both Static and Dynamic functionality and a 7.1 surround True Peak Limiter and runs right within your NLE or DAW as an AAX, RTAS, AU or VST plug-in.RX Final Mix is designed to be utilized on your stem tracks, and your master bus if desired! The limiter is designed to be transparent: it analyzes the incoming source material and uses a psycho-acoustically pleasing algorithm that reacts quickly to transients and reacts more slowly to lower frequency and steady tones; it is optimized to preserve transients and present them in a sharp, clear …
