A Mystery Frequency Disrupted Car Fobs in an Ohio City, and Now Residents Know Why It sounded like something from an episode of “The X-Files”: Starting a few weeks ago, in a suburban neighborhood a few miles from a NASA research center in Ohio, garage door openers and car key fobs mysteriously stopped working. Garage door repair people, local ham radio enthusiasts and other volunteer investigators descended on the neighborhood with various meters. Everyone agreed that something powerful was interfering with the radio frequency that many fobs rely on, but no one could identify the source. Rest of the story, about a five-minute read: https:…

Hello, Just wondering what the best places are for someone to follow what will go down at NAB this year without being there. I would love a livestream type of thing but if you also know youtube channels or other channels that put the content out pretty quick I'd love to know Thanks, Mattia.

They are asking us for input, what we wanna see in an upcoming new wireless RX/TX kit. It's a tough market with fairly reasonable options from Sony and Sennheiser in the low budget segment, so interesting to see what they will come with to compete with these industry giants. https://wavreport.com/2018/06/04/deity-microphones-going-wireless/

Today, I have experienced a nightmare in a cooking show. Wireless & Induction Kitchen Some sort info's: Wireless was Sennheiser G3 (626 MHz - 688 MHz) and G2 (780 MHz - 822 MHz). Lavaliers was DPA 4061. I know, 780 MHz - 822 MHz isn't very good here; but usable. The kitchen was without any extra furniture, so the whole system (below glass surface) was expsosed (not visible to camera of course). When the chef was turned on the kitchen for cooking; wireless went crazy, both of them. The sound was something like huge noise gate, plus extreme denoise, plus extreme compression. Like RF swallow into black hole (use your imagination). …

New York Times posts a photo today, to illustrate an article on new threats of government shutdown... I get why the capitol, and the boom mic could certainly suggest "news"... but why a wind screen? It seems like there's nothing moving in Washington these days, no matter what your political leanings, and probably not even the air...

This story covers the tech-investment angle, but huh... In my day were were lucky to rehearse in a warehouse with a leaky roof... 🙂 So I guess these are fancy(ish) rehearsal spaces? Anyone here know anything about these? Seem like an idea that could work, or taking the whole "gig economy" trope too literally and too far? Pirate Studios raises $20M from Talis Capital for its ‘self-service’ tech-enabled music studios [snip] The new funding will enable Pirate Studios to continue to expand across the U.K., Germany and the U.S., where it has been building what the startup describes as a community of musicians, DJs, producers and podcasters who need access …

Hello, Soundies -- A project I'm prepping has a scene with Rush Limbaugh (or, a reasonable facsimile), and I'm hoping to find a good-sounding, good-looking version of his microphone - the legendary GOLD ElectroVoice RE-20. I hope there's one out there that I might rent - please tell me ! Thanks -- Glenn Berkovitz glennb@pobox.com (Hollywood)

Hi guys I really need your help. Our videographer recorded the entire conference without checking the sound and it came out like this https://drive.google.com/file/d/1dvDKJut8-03Y5feTn6khk9dXG48G1Ctf/view Basically the client is wanting to cancel their contract with us and I don't blame them but do you guys think there is a way for us to salvage the audio? Does anyone know how we can fix something like this?
