I am about to be working on a project featuring some trainers doing high intensity workouts and the producers what to achieve the most even sound possible. We have done some of these in the past and we would run one lav and a boom, but due to the quick movement, changing positions, the trainers head pointing in different directions, the lav being covered or pressed into the floor for certain positions, the lav track is not always reliable. When they use the boom to fill in the gaps the sound is quite different and they are trying to figure out a way to get a more even sound throughout. For some stuff this round we will be using a countryman h6 headset, and this will el…

I need some help/advice regarding my Nagra III. I made a DIY power supply from a wall wart (12VDC @ 1A) using a 6 pin DIN and pins 2 and 5 on the accessory connector. Positive is earth/ground. Works almost perfect except for rewind. I've read the manual and other relevant posts here and elsewhere but can't figure this out. Again, playback, record, line in/out and the XLR all work as they should. I have the function selector switch set to EXT and when I turn it to either playback option and turn the tape transport control knob to the 'ON' position it plays no issue. However when I turn the On/Off knob to the left to disengag…

Hello, I've searched this website but haven't found a solution to my issue. Sending 23.98 fps LTC timecode to a Pulse from SD633. The Pulse is connected to the AtomosX via RF signal. As you can see in the photos, all the units are synced perfectly. When I sync the video and audio in post it's off by 4 frames consistently throughout. I was wondering if there was a solution to this where it could be perfectly in sync when matched in post. Thanks!

Hi, I ve bought in September 2021 1x MCR42 Wisy, and 2x SRC lectro, and put everything to SL6 , the issue is that when I have all 3 units turned on, the MCR42 gets high extra noise on all spectrum (screenshot attached) , however when I turn off SRCs and restart SL6 with only MCR42 working , the noise disapear... any ideas appreciate (I changed output Analog/AES3, but when I turn on SRC it automatycly set on Analog, and cannot switch it anyway...), thx!

Hi, I am designing a gooseneck podium mic/preamp. It will use an electret mic. There won't be much shock isolation between the gooseneck and the podium. I am interested in what people think a good frequency response would be. Some issues are low frequency thumps and handling materials such as notes on the podium. Also, what would be a good low pass for sibilance . Keeping in mind that in many instances there will be no sound person present to EQ. The EQ would be permanently set in the preamp. What would you set low and high pass filters at? Thanks for any help with this.

I want to make a TC cable. I usually use a 75ohm connector for TC, but I currently have a bunch of leftover 50ohm BNCs. Does it make any difference which one I use?

I want to use 4 Wisycom MCR42 s with AES on Deva Recorder. Everything works fine. Only the EQ works for Ch 1,2,3 and 4. For Ch 5-8 its not possible to activate the eq. I see the eq at the display. But on Ch 5-8 there is no difference to bypass. any ideas? When I use all analog Inputs all Ch works fine with EQ.

I'm fairly new to Zax wireless and a long time user of Lectros. I have a coordinated list for 14 Lectro channels (praying to god we won't need to use that many) and was to add 2 Zaxcom channels in for booms. I have regularly heard that there is "no intermodulation" with Zaxcom Digital Wireless. Does this mean that the transmitters won't emit any harmonics/overtones that could cause intermodulation? Or are they immune to intermod from other transmitters (meaning that I would still have to coordinate them to not screw with the lectros)? I hope I'm asking this question in a way that makes sense.

Hey Everybody, Here's a sound clip of the issue - https://drive.google.com/file/d/1j72Oz6bbUYmnHS7TAKu_d5GZF0hkJJxP/view?usp=sharing I'm using a UMP-II with a UM400 transmitter and a MKH50. I'm getting a "boiling" or buzzing sound from the mic. My 416 works fine with this exact same set-up. I've connect the MKH50 to the UMP-II and then directly to my recorder and it sounds fine. I've tried putting a longer xlr between the MKH50 and the UMP-II and the problem remains. I've also tried a 200 series and G3 tx and the problem continued. I don't currently have another newer transmitter to test with but t…

Hello everyone, there is a problem with my SMa transmitter, when the audio level is less than 15, noise like "boiling" comes along with the voice, the problem appears suddenly, sometimes it helps to pull out lavalier microphone and insert it back, maybe someone else had such a problem?

Hello to all of you @JWSOUND It's good to finally be here. I have a question regarding Zaxcom Maxx recorder issue. I've already contacted Zaxcom and Ambient regarding the issue and the good people from Ambient told me that i can send Maxx for service/repair but i should also ask the question here as the nature of issues I'm going through is really weird. Never explained issue to Zaxcom, just asked about the possibility of service in Europe. I'll try to describe the issue the best i can. The other day i ran out of batteries (hawk woods np50) during recording session. At the moment i wasn't close to the recorder but when i came ba…

Hello, Hope everyone here is well, I continue to follow and enjoy the Nagra Stories Thread and wish I could enjoy using my machine which is in for repair. I am writing to ask if anyone could assist me with a copy of the Harvey Warnke flow charts, and diagrams. I have the written manual available online but can't find any technical circuitry diagrams. My X4S had the modification installed in 1995 at Audio Services Corporation. I would be most grateful for any help. Thank you MarkC

Hey all, I've searched all the usual suspects. Does anyone make a 1ru (or any rackmount size) 4-8 channel LINE LEVEL splitter with XLR ins and outs? I want it for redundancy recording to a second recorder on the cart. The closest I've found is either mic level only or with special phoenix connectors for the outputs. Best, Ben

Hey there, I know it is not a great idea in theory to run a digital AES signal through an analog cable, but wondering what real world experiences people have when running for short lengths. I have a specific cable I like to use for all of my bag cables and it would just be going out of my receiver to the input of my mixer, so maximum 1ft. Thanks!

Had a shoot in a building that may or may not have had an FM radio station broadcasting from it in the Mid-Wilshire district of Los Angeles. Multiple frequency scans with my Wisycom MCR42S receivers with the latest firmware produced many clear frequencies with very low noise floors. Upon dialing up the transmitters (MTP40S with latest firmware), the gain level on the transmitter showed that the lav mic cable was acting like an antenna and picking up all kinds of stray RF. Here's a photo of the transmitter gain level in a silent room with a DPA 4061. Tried a B3 and COS-11 and got the same results. At the mixer, it sounded like the signal was gating (compander pumping?) and…

My apologies if this is a silly question or has been asked and answered before. I made a cursory search of the archives and did not find anything on-topic. I currently own a pair of Sanken COS-11D mics, wired with locking 1/8-inch mini plugs for Sennheiser G3 wireless packs. I will soon be adding a pair of new packs to my kit and am looking at at an Lectronics L-series combo. That acquisition will exhaust my equipment budget for a few months. Consequently, I would rather not have to buy new COS-11Ds simply because of the change in connector type (from 1/8-inch to TA5F). I intend to keep my G3s, and ideally, would like to have the flexibility be able to use the COS-11D…
