07/14/12 We are looking for a sound person with their own equipment for our micro-budget feature film shooting mostly in Jersey City in mid-late July. We have successfully completed our online fundraising and have raised enough money to pull it off, though everyone involved is working for under what they would on a corporate project or higher budget. This is a passion project, a small, indie romantic comedy in the vein of Edward Burns, Woody Allen, The Duplass Brothers. If you're looking for a cool film to be a part of and want to work with professionals who have their stuff together, understand the value of your time, and are talented people…

Hey, My close friend is producing a short series of videos for linked-in, he will be traveling to the bay area soon, and I thought I would recommend him some people to reach out to. It will be mostly interview/b-roll/walk n talk kind of stuff, from what I understand. He will be shooting on a 7D or two, so a TC recorder and slate will be needed. PM me your info and I'll pass it on (gear and exp would also be helpful unless you are a regular enough poster that I'll know who you are) Best, Wyatt

Hello! I know any of you didn't see me posting around, but I am always reading many topics here on JW. I am Edward Bauman, and still starting my career as a production sound mixer. I am currently living in Vancouver, and have been to some sets as a mixer/boom op, but I want to jump up to the bigger gigs. I've done some festivals (198 in LA, Crazy 8s, Cinework), some independent films, and a lot of student films, but I am usually alone on set, or I get some experienced friends (that work in the area) to be boom ops, so, I dont have experiences with big time mixers to help me to grow and learn. Learning on my own, on set, sometimes can be hard, especially because…

A producer friend (and I mean someone who is a friend first and colleague second - so one of the good guys) is prepping to shoot a movie in Fiji. I am not available, unfortunately. There is a music element to the film, but won't be TC or earwigs or anything complicated, just a speaker and laptop would do. The story follows slaves in the late 1800s escaping to Canada from the US via the "underground railroad", and the music scenes highlight the songs sung by slaves at that time. I wanted to test the waters here and see if any NZ or Auzzie mixers would be interested, since I imagine it would cost less to fly a team from there vs. the US. Clearly, with a $1.5m b…

I saw this post today on CL, and I just can't understand why one would have such a combative attitude from the get go... "No-I am not looking for a company from out of state to come in. No, do not bs me about what I need as I have produced a weekly tv show before. I was doing tv and radio while you were in junior high. I need a crew to shoot this reality show pilot in HD and possibly 3D. Some cash paid but I know you need this gig on your resume. If I cannot find you in Charlotte, I will bring in from another city close by. This is 13 weeks of shows so make some cash and gain experience. I need a good post production person also. Let me know what you have done. If yo…

Reality show shooting in the Dallas area needs a fill in mixer for July 12-15. I'm not sure if we need someone all those dates quite yet but those details can be sorted out with the line producer. I'm the sound supervisor for the show. Gear is provided by the sound mixer you will be filling in for (for the sake of consistency) and includes a 552 mixer, 4 Lectros, Lectro hops, and IFB. Boom is almost never used, FYI. You would be mixing second unit. PM me your info and we'll take it from there.

Hello All, I'm sending this message to get my name out there. My name is Phillip Morris. I live in Los Angeles, but I'm willing to travel. I don't own any equipment yet, so I'm more suited to a support position. I graduated from USC's film production program and specialized in sound, both production and post. For the last year I have worked as a Program Coordinator at the New York Film Academy. My commitment to them is coming to an end and I'd love to get back on set. Please keep me in mind if any A2, Sound Utility, Boom Op, or even PA jobs come up. Thank you for your consideration, please find my resume attached. Sincerely, Phillip Morr…

I was down to do a shoot in San Francisco next week, for a UK production company, it's not going to happen for me now for various reasons, and the company asked if I knew anyone who might be available. You must be local to SF, there's no room in the budget for hotels. It's a simple-ish doc shoot. 2 radios, mixer, 744T, camera hop should cover it. I'd like it to go to someone on here as the camera guy is a good friend of mine. No newbies thanks! PM/email me your details and I'll put you in touch with the Production Company. The money is good and it should be an interesting couple of days.

Hi all, I know this is a total shot in the dark, but I figured posting is better than not posting! I'm a college student from Upstate NY (Ithaca College Park School of Communications) looking for some summer film work in NYC. I'm currently interning for Technicolor PostWorks during the week, but I'm available for weekend shoots in the NYC area. I've got a shotgun mic (Sennheiser ME-80) and a K-tek boom pole. I'd be more than willing to rent those pieces of gear out, as well, if anyone's interested. Also, I'm an aspiring re-recording mixer (who isn't), so if anyone has projects that are looking for some post-production sound work, I'm your guy! My re…

Simply, I'm looking for some experiences in the post world. I'm willing to work for free, because my knowledge is very minimal. My hope is to better understand what an editor wants/expects a production mixer to be recording. You'll need to explain some basic principals, but if you're a patient person like I am, I think I could be of help. Think of this as helping the industry as a whole. Informing more and more sound mixers to the intricacies of post-production. =) If I left out any key information I will gladly clarify if asked. Feel free to PM me, or reach me at my email address. alexander.burstein@yahoo.com

Hey, Soundies - reposting from SoundDesign group - if I could be there, I would. Got the note below from a producer I worked with last year: PM me your info and I'll forward it to him. Sorry I don't know any more than what I copied below. Best Bernie I have a good friend who's shooting a documentary over the next month in Boston, Austin and Memphis. The production is looking for talented sound mixers with their own gear in each of those cities.

Hi guys, A producer Ive worked with a few times is asking if I know anyone based in Northern Germany for a couple days work next week. Anyone from that region on here? I used to live in London so have a few friends there that could make the journey but I assume they're trying to save some cash and find someone local. Rate I believe is $650 US for a 10 hr day. Mostly just one on one interviews and B Roll, nice and easy! All the best, Neil neil.mcint@gmail.com

Hi all. I'm a fairly green sound guy from North Carolina, do my work with decidedly low-end gear compared to most here. I will be in the NYC area the week of July 2-7, and would love the chance to assist or just shadow an experienced mixer for a day. Promise to not get in the way, and likewise promise to pay attention, learn and help out when/if called upon to do so. I also promise to not ask too many annoying questions! Specifically, I will be in the central New Jersey area visiting my parents for the week (I grew up there). They live two blocks from the train station, so its a short hop into Grand Central from their place. So anyone in the central Jersey area, or…
