Hi JW soundies, I need some help with a job on 28th. Short day, setup at 7am , event 11-12:30, and wrap out. I will multitrack and send sound to 2-3 cameras and also to a PA in a car showroom and then another out on a golf course. I have one PA and will rent another from you. Only 60-80 people, so just a small PA is needed. Some feedback control experience would be great as there will be lavs through the PA in addition to stick mics for audience questions outside. I can pay $400/8 hours plus gear rental depending what you have. Thanks, Paul

help develop the workflow of the future! " Shooting on the NEW BROWN #2 Camera (beta testing U(ultra)HD camera) We're shooting on the NEW BROWN NUMBER TWO Ultra-High-Definition Camera, doing a secret beta testing on a camera that won't hit the market until next year. We're established film-makers that have much recognition in the Festival Circuit, and we're well-known in the Mooch Narcissus Camp of film-makers. all the really successful shows have lots of producers, so another important thing is that we have plenty of producers! A Los Angeles area School band needs to have their performance of the Star Spangled Banner recorded in the next few days to be used at an upcoming sporting event. A stereo recording needs to be made in their auditorium. They have a small amount of cash to cover costs. Anyone willing to help out? Contact Kevin Kvam at saphronobois@yahoo.com . Sounds like a good project to test out a MS portable recording rig. ---Courtney

I have been contacted by an Australian production company working on a doc in three US cities and they're looking for mixers. The dates and cities are as follows: NY - June 8,9 Washington, DC - June 10, 11, 12 San Francisco - June 13 I had booked NYC with them but had to withdraw due to a commitment to another show. The rate I quoted them was $500/10 hours including gear. If interested, kindly contact Rose Grandile at rg@electricpictures.com.au. A.

I have been hired to mix a 5-day shoot for a Univision-backed web novella. It's being treated as a single camera shoot, but they will have three cameras and we will be in practical locations only. My staffing will be this - Myself, a lead boom who might be required to peel off with one camera and record if the schedule requires it, a second boom, and a utility person to bounce around as needed. I don't want to post rates here, but they are neither bad nor good. It is non-union, so union status is not important. But the daily page count is ridiculous, so experience is a must. And it is Spanish language, so it would be ideal if my lead boom is fluent in Spanish, and…

ABOUT ME: Very easy to work with, flexible, and knowledgeable boom op/mixer/utility (whatever you need me to be). I have experience doing them all. I've mixed for Nike, Pepsi, BBC, My Space. Been a utility on reality shows. I study/know a little Mandarin (if that means anything to anyone {hey, I'm proud of it}). I can wield a boom, wire talent/a room, run a multi-track recorder or just push a sound cart around a location. I take pride in my work and enjoy doing it.... AND you'll enjoy not doing it because, you have a lackey to do it for you. Lucky you. I'm here to work. Check out my site. No? www.czharcusmjones.com Thanks,

UPDATE: the job has been filled. thanks everyone for your responses. i have a schedule conflict coming up next week and need a sub for one of two jobs. one is a commercial shoot (you will need to provide a good amount of gear, be familiar with transcription, red camera, etc.) that pays a standard commercial rate + gear. the other is a low budget feature, just one day, but hopefully the rate could be worth your time (pretty simple, straight to camera with maybe a back-up). please contact me off list with your info/experience. dates are (tentatively) the 21st and the 25th of april thanks, -greg-

Anyone ever work for Turnpike Pictures based in NJ? They've called about a possible gig but don't want to pay my full rate. I really don't need any more slow/no pays right now. David

Now, please don't be angry with me... I am just as likely to scoff at these as the rest of you... but at least I am not pretending it's something it isn't. A friend I have helped out in the past for small projects is putting together a crew to shoot an 8-page presentation the weekend of the 28th. She was a director's assistant on a film I mixed a few years ago, and is very kind and fun. I just can't do it myself. I don't want to sell this as "if it gets funding for a feature, then you WILL be the sound guy", or any of the other crap that is passed off to get free help. It's a freebie, and might be fun for a young kid who wants to have a go at doing the job withou…

I've been slumming it for the last couple of years (read: the entirety of my short career) in the reality and ENG worlds and am hoping to branch out. I've done a handful of features and shorts, but always in such conditions that I'm either the only soundie or in charge of an even less experienced boom operator. It's generally not a very efficient way to learn. So here's the deal: I'm available for work as an additional boom or utility in the LA area. If you don't have any work for me, however, I'd still love to visit sets and see how some of you more experienced folk do your thing. If any of you LA folks can make room for another set of hands or an inquisitiv…

Hi everyone. I'm just finishing up as a third for a Broken Lizards (BeerFest, Super Troopers) production and am looking for the next gig. I've day played for Tom Stasinis (Mixer on Entourage and 2'nd Unit Bones) and Buck Robinson, thirded for Jacob Goldstein on My Boys, and have spent a couple of shoots as Tim Cooney's third (so you KNOW I'm patient and easy going - as I'm sure Tim would attest). I own a full film kit and am always happy to provide add'l gear if/when needed. At any rate, I know it's slow, but figured it couldn't hurt to throw it out there. Thanks! -Hunter Moore The Valley
