SF's loss is New Orleans' gain--Will Blase, my assistant on nearly all the big music+video jobs I've done lately is moving to New Orleans later this month and looking for work. Deeply computer and audio savvy, highly refined socially, very hard working and a bonafide hipster, you N.O. folks should be so lucky as to have him on your crews. Contact me here and I'll pass his info along. phil p

A friend is doing a music video in LA next weekend. All my gang is working or we'd cover it for her as a favor. Normally I' never ask anyone to work on a low budget shoot but ya never know who might want a chance to meet new people and practice their craft. $400.00 a day labor & gear. On stage. Playback over speakers and feed song to a Arri mini. Thanks. CrewC

Good morning, One of my students at NYFA Universal City has scraped together $300 for some post-sound work on his thesis film "Black and Blue", about a popular, handsome, college Fraternity president who decides to come out as gay. I've seen several rough cuts, and it's quite a good short film. The director is a good student, going to school on his parent's GI Bill, and telling a very real-feeling story in a very heart-felt way completely DEVOID of caricatures. And for that reason alone I'm helping him find someone who may be able to help out at this student rate. I believe the running time may be somewhere around 10 minutes. Please email if you are interested…

I've got a friend who's looking for a mixer in Austin on March 30-April 7. I'm not totally up on the exact gig, but from what I gather, its a sit down interview gig. Recording straight to camera (not sure what camera), small ENG kit. No idea what the rate is, but it's not going to be commercial rates I can guess. Probably low, but fair. Negotiate what you can get Her name is Kurra and her contact info is: kht.turner@gmail.com She's an awsome person, if stymied by her budget *shrug* Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Hello, I'm not sure if anyone browses here looking for available mixers, but what the heck. I just finished a reality series recently, and would love to have something more consistent than piecing together 1-3 day jobs here and there. If you need a mixer in the Philly area, or anywhere that lacks locals, I would love to talk. I do everything from lightweight run+gun doc/reality to bag based recording to cart based narrative/film/movie/whatever. Jobs requiring running in bulletproof vests to sitting at a cart in slip-on Vans and a Hawaiian shirt and everything in between. I enjoy it all! A somewhat updated list of credits, and equipment, is on my personal sit…

*******THE GIG IS FINISHED******* I did a low budget gig for a group called The Porchlight Sessions last fall in L.A. and they are doing another shoot in the Bay area early next week I believe. Low budget but it was a very short and fun gig. I was there a total of 4 hours. Recording a 4 piece bluegrass group with a few cameras, typically DSLR. Contact Anna at anna@porchlightsessions.com When I did the gig I definitely went overboard on what I provided but, like I said, it was a lot of fun and the people are great. PM me if you would like more info in what I did for the gig. I don't know the rate or shooting detail but Anna can provide those for you. …

Hello people of JWsound, My name is Jesse Flaitz, I've been hanging around here and posting occasionally for a while now. I've been working production sound for around 6 months and doing OK in the very to ultra low budget sector of NYC. As some have said here before, that kind of work is a great way to learn how not to do stuff, but that isn't enough for me. I'd very much like to learn under an experienced sound mixer, but finding that kind of work seems extremely rare. Every now and then I see a "seeking boom op/utillity/A2" posting here or on the facebook group, but that tends to be LA gigs. Having worked almost exclusively as a one man sound crew I haven'…

A friend asked me to see if anyone is interested in doing one of these 48hr contests. The rules state they can't pay anyone, but they are allowed to rent gear, so there'll be a little money there. My friend will be the 1st. She's an actual professional, so it MIGHT be a civilized shoot. 6am Saturday somewhere in Los Angeles. http://www.producersguild.org/?page=shorts_contest http://www.producersguild.org/?page=shorts_contest_rules PM me if interested. This is obviously for young and new mixers looking for an interesting experience. Robert

What's been described to me as a "microbudget" project, Rows, is looking for a sound recordist. They begin shooting next Monday, August 1, 2011 in Harford County in Maryland. The producer is an old friend and colleague. If you're interested, go to their website, Contact details are listed there. I understand they are offering deferred compensation and profit participation, but since I'm unable to do the job I don't know any further details. Note that I'm posting this as a favor to an old friend and have absolutely no interest in pursuing a discussion about rates, etc. Best regards, Jim

Hello everyone! I'm nearing the end of my first year in the industry and I'm looking for jobs to do and people to meet! I'm available for boom op and utility work in France (and more than willing to travel if you'll have me), and have a place to stay in Lyon, Paris and Clermont-Ferrand. I've done 3 internships as a sound utility so far on large sets, and do a fair amount of volunteer work with my own gear, and have also done an internship at a sound gear rental. I'm bilingual in french and english as well! Feel free to contact me, even if just to chat! It's been a week since I've left my last set, and I'm already itching for…
