I've finally been approved by Apple to sell my bloop slate app, and it's available on the App store as of today! I have a demo video at: rhttp://rakeshanderson.com/bloopbox/ Please let me know what you think about the app. The demo video is a little cheesy, but it shows how it works. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks

I know some of you use them on your cart, so maybe you found something. I'm looking for something like a Pelican case for a full sized iPad when I throw it in (soft) luggage for travel. I don't mean an Otterbox, because I want to protect the screen. I have the Apple magic cover thing and a rubber/silicon-like bottom cover. Despite Pelican's site saying their case works with those, all the reviews say otherwise. Sound like I could buy a Pelican and immediately cut up the innards, but if there is a better option, I would love to hear. When I fly I *usually* take it with me on the plane, but often we pile luggage and equipment in the back of a cargo van, and that's wher…

MacPro Sales To Stop March 1 in EU Countries If you live in a country under the European Union and you were thinking of purchasing a Mac Pro, do it before March 1st. Apple told reseller and channel partners recently that it would stop all sales of the desktop system on March 1st to comply with new EU regulatory standards. IEC 609501 Amendment 1, covers safety and electrical standards as they relate to electrical equipment and unfortunately for EU customers, the Mac Pro does not comply with this standard, due to issues with power provided to its I/O ports and the placement of its fan guards. The MacPro is the only Apple product to fall under this ruling, becau…

Almost one entire year ago, there was a thread about "underage" Chinese factory workers making Apple products, and I was inspired to write some song parody lyrics to the tune of Tennessee Ernie Ford's classic labor song, "16 Tons". Mike Filosa, Crew Chamberlain, and Tom Taylor encouraged me to do something with it, and it took me an entire fucking year to produce the music video for what is now the song parody "16 Yuan". It's not about bashing Apple, it's about the conspicuous consumerism and colonialist attitudes that feed this side of that Chinese factory equation. Most of all it's a song parody, because I'm reasonably sure that's the most protected by law...lol. …

How about making my lightning cable actually lightening by making it plug into my currently unused and hyper speed thunderbolt port. at 10gbps theoretically I could sync my entire music library to my 64gb iPhone and iPad in approximately 30 seconds lol.

Thought you guys would have a suggestion. I play music through the aux channel/headphone out of my iphone. While playing with various car chargers I always get a pretty noise ground loop (not sure what to call when a car is involved). I drive a newer car so don't think it's crappy power. I assume most non audio people don't hear it. Any recommendations?

The Land Before Macs: A field guide Benj Edwards - author for MacWorld Since we live in the era of the Mac and the iPhone, we tend to overlook the earliest, non-Mac era of Apple history—a time when lumbering digital beasts roamed the earth. As a result, many misconceptions about Apple's earliest products continue to spread throughout the Internet unchecked. It's time to rectify that with an authoritative field guide to these early creatures. At the height of Apple Computer’s classical age, these binary dinosaurs came with names like Apple I, II, and III—Roman-numeraled computer systems with lineages almost as ancient as the numerals themselves. Thanks to r…

I was happy to see that there is an exposed anchor... I heard that Steve wanted such a minimalist clean line that the unsightly opening for the anchor would not be acceptable. All kidding aside, this is an amazing design for a yacht but I agree that it looks a little like an Apple Store on water. - article - Project took years, features innovative look An endeavour to design a world-class yacht for his family to use, one of the later projects of former Apple CEO Steve Jobs' life, has finally been completed after years of work and was christened by the Jobs family as "Venus" in a ceremony in Aalsmeer in the Netherlands. I think there was a thread, or a tangent on a thread, but I can't find it, so..... What are the iPhone/iPad/iPod touch apps you have found useful for work? Not time killers, but actually useful. My phone is currently a Droid (till next iPhone is released), but I have an iPad too, so I might be missing some apps. Offhand the ones I know about, and find useful: LectroRM FreqFinder I'm dabbling with Sound Report Writer for run+gun bag work notes that I would otherwise scribble on paper. Specifically jobs that issue a 744T and I don't have my Fusion. On my iPad, I have the Denecke and Ambient TC apps. I have not gotten/made the cable yet, so I have not …

Amazing end to a complex, lengthy trial: a jury has ruled that Samsung will have to pay Apple over a billion dollars for stealing product ideas and patents for the iPhone. To me, the evidence that surfaced, showing a lot of Samsung's internal memos where they had meetings specifically talking about how to make their icons more rounded and shaded like Apple's, clearly tell me that they stole from Apple's products. Take a look: Apple's stock just hit $675 today (8/24), so apparently the financiers agree with the decision. I hope Apple kicks them to the curb. I really detest it when people steal unique, creative ideas like this and think they can get awa…

Interesting brief article (with links) highlighting some history and present accounts of the state of patents, featuring Apple, Google and others. An Inside Look at Apple's Role in the Patent Industry Monday October 8, 2012 10:53 am PDT by Eric Slivka In the seventh installment of its "iEconomy" series focused on Apple, The New York Times takes a look at patents, examining how and why Apple has wielded them in what seems to be a never-ending series of lawsuits between the company and its competitors. The seven-page article offers an interesting glimpse into the patent process and traces Apple's aggressive efforts to a $100 million settlement paid b…

Anyone using the Maps app in iOS6 knows there are serious problems, particularly compared to the previous Google Maps on the iPhone. Here you can read yet another article that sheds some more light on this issue. Apple's Split with Google Over iOS Maps Driven by Turn-by-Turn Navigation Dispute Wednesday September 26, 2012 12:27 pm PDT by Eric Slivka Reports about the high-profile split between Apple and Google that saw Apple replace its Google-powered Maps app for iOS with its own solution have continued to trickle out, with AllThingsD now reporting that the lack of turn-by-turn directions on Google's Maps app for iOS was the key motivator for Apple. …
