Anyone using the Maps app in iOS6 knows there are serious problems, particularly compared to the previous Google Maps on the iPhone. Here you can read yet another article that sheds some more light on this issue. Apple's Split with Google Over iOS Maps Driven by Turn-by-Turn Navigation Dispute Wednesday September 26, 2012 12:27 pm PDT by Eric Slivka Reports about the high-profile split between Apple and Google that saw Apple replace its Google-powered Maps app for iOS with its own solution have continued to trickle out, with AllThingsD now reporting that the lack of turn-by-turn directions on Google's Maps app for iOS was the key motivator for Apple. …

How about making my lightning cable actually lightening by making it plug into my currently unused and hyper speed thunderbolt port. at 10gbps theoretically I could sync my entire music library to my 64gb iPhone and iPad in approximately 30 seconds lol.

It's free, works with their wireless timecode receivers (or any LTC timecode source). Looks good as a display for numbers on a cart, scripty, or other non-frame accurate timecode needs (I'm sure the software is solid, but limitation of latency of iPad screen refresh rate? Need to test...). There are some slate applications out there that charge a lot of money for this feature.

I thought that I was going to be angry that they removed all the ports and just kept four usb-c's. But I am actually pretty pleased with the new MacBook pros. I think apple did a great job improving my favourite computer.

I've finally been approved by Apple to sell my bloop slate app, and it's available on the App store as of today! I have a demo video at: rhttp://rakeshanderson.com/bloopbox/ Please let me know what you think about the app. The demo video is a little cheesy, but it shows how it works. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks

New iPhone 4 1 2 3 4

I think the new iPhone 4 (and the new iOS that runs it) is pretty amazing. I really enjoyed watching the Apple video, particularly the shots of the manufacturing process, materials used, and the result. I know there are those that criticize Apple, and specifically Steve Jobs, for putting aesthetics, feel and form before function, but I really appreciate the attention to those details. I know I'm not alone, people would not be buying these things if they didn't also perform "insanely great"! Watch the video on the Apple site (Courtney, be patient, Quicktime will load eventually)

Mary Gruszka / 12.21.2011 12:00AM Audio Measurement Apps—Things to Be Aware Of With the growing number of audio measurement apps for smart devices becoming available, and for fairly reasonable prices, why should you keep your "old" test gear or consider buying new? Even though apps offer amazing capabilities already, and are getting better with regular updates and improvements, it's still early days yet for apps to replace other test gear. TESTING THE TEST GEAR With any test device, it's important to test the test equipment. Compare measurements obtained with apps with those tak…

That's since I got one about four weeks ago. Technologically, of course, great, it does it all. I tricked myself into believing I need one because of the smart Lectro remote thing. Sure, it all works nicely. But if we could see ourselves from the past, from when there were no iPhones (and imitators), see us now, staring at these little things in our hand, pressing and swiping our fingers on its glass, always with our heads downward, necks bent, maybe we'd realize that the way the iPhone "changed the world" might not be an exclusively good one.

I think there was a thread, or a tangent on a thread, but I can't find it, so..... What are the iPhone/iPad/iPod touch apps you have found useful for work? Not time killers, but actually useful. My phone is currently a Droid (till next iPhone is released), but I have an iPad too, so I might be missing some apps. Offhand the ones I know about, and find useful: LectroRM FreqFinder I'm dabbling with Sound Report Writer for run+gun bag work notes that I would otherwise scribble on paper. Specifically jobs that issue a 744T and I don't have my Fusion. On my iPad, I have the Denecke and Ambient TC apps. I have not gotten/made the cable yet, so I have not …

Amazing end to a complex, lengthy trial: a jury has ruled that Samsung will have to pay Apple over a billion dollars for stealing product ideas and patents for the iPhone. To me, the evidence that surfaced, showing a lot of Samsung's internal memos where they had meetings specifically talking about how to make their icons more rounded and shaded like Apple's, clearly tell me that they stole from Apple's products. Take a look: Apple's stock just hit $675 today (8/24), so apparently the financiers agree with the decision. I hope Apple kicks them to the curb. I really detest it when people steal unique, creative ideas like this and think they can get awa…

Apple has more than $76 billion in cash and marketable securities on its balance sheet. That's a lot of scratch. Moolah. Bones. You get my point.

In a manner befitting the popular tech company, the following invitations were sent out today by Apple for a special event this upcoming September 9th: They are expected to announce their new line of iPhones (a 4.7" and possibly a 5.5" iPhone), as well as their first product in the wearable technology market, popularly referred to by the crowds as the "iWatch". After all the complaining about the new connector on the iPhone 5, there have been some significant revelations about this connector. These explanations go far beyond the remarks about how Apple used the new connector just to keep us buying new stuff and how awful it is that Apple has pissed off all the accessory companies. It looks to be a truly "smart" cable with active adaptive components that configure its use. Apple's Lightning Connector Uses Adaptive Technology to Dynamically Assign Pin Functions With Apple's new Lightning connector on the iPhone 5 dropping to just eight contact pins from the 30 pins seen in the original dock connector and gaining t…

I have a router/modem problem with our iMac which I just can't seem to shake. I will attempt to describe... When I open a page on Safari and do tasks, everything works fine until you stop using the computer for about five minutes. At this point Safari seems to freeze and won't do any tasks. It then tries to reload the page and comes up with a message that 'Safari cannot load page/contact server ect, ect'. If I turn Airport off and then on again, the page reloads and Safari works fine, until you leave it for about five minutes when the whole freezing thing repeats again. It seems as though the iMac goes offline or loses contact with the modem/router and w…

After an outcry from iPhone users that Apple is slowing down older iPhones to prolong battery life, the Verge is reporting: Apple says that batteries are “consumable components,” and is offering anyone with an iPhone 6 or later a battery replacement for $29 starting in late January through December 2018 — a discount of $50 from the usual replacement cost. Apple’s also promising to add features to iOS that provide more information about the battery health in early 2018, so that users are aware of when their batteries are no longer capable of supporting maximum phone performance.
