Hello, So, making some cables for my hops and I've never soldered with TA5F's before. Since ill be using Lectro SMV's as tx's, it looks like I have to solder a jumped from pin 1 to pin 4 on the ta5f side, connecting shield to ta5f pin 1 from xlr pin 1 and audio from ta5f pin 5 to xlr pin 2. So XLR TA5F pin 1 to pin 1 pin 2 to pin 5 pin 3 Is Not used pin 4 jumps to pin 1 Does this compute? Is says NOT to connect xlr pin 3 to ta5f pin 4 per Lectro website. http://www.lectrosonics.com/Microphone-Wiring/uhf-transmitter-5-pin-input-jack-wiring.html Any help would be great. Thanks, Greg

I’ve been working on a design for a small line mixer since January, on and off. I’m getting pretty close now- I’ve got a working circuit and managed to get the enclosure design working. I need to make a few tweaks to the board design, as some components need to be moved in order for it to fit in the box This particular one is an unbalanced design, with 4 inputs over 2 mini XLR inputs, outputting to a single mini xlr output. The reason for this is to work with my Sonosax recorder and mixer, in order to be able to be able to add the recorder’s 4 XLR inputs to a mix (on the bus in for the mixer) and still record pre-fade ISO tracks.…

here's the link to video.. Greetings, I've uploaded a video to Youtube demonstrating how I connect my 788t directly to my iPad to facilitate downloading the Sound Report.csv for further manipulation. I take no responsibility for you jail breaking your iPad.. I have an extensive IT and computer background and jail breaking my device is not a big deal to me.. I no longer felt like dragging my laptop out just to generate a PDF report. I already had a jailbroken iPad and started looking into connecting it to the 788t. It worked perfectly the first time and with the help of a 4 dollar app called iFile, I can now directly mount the 788t drive from the iPad. The Hol…

I use Countryman B6 and Sanken cos-11 Lavs. I have several that have glue left from mole skin. What is the best product to use to get it off without harming the mics. Thanks

Like lots of recordists, I struggle when micing up people wearing shirts. Avoiding scratching and rustling can be really difficult. I'm a big fan of the "hide in plain sight" method using a Countryman B6 through a button hole, but find the sound of the mic itself a bit hit and miss. I've been trying to figure out a way to do the same with a Cos11. Simply poking it straight up doesn't work too well and the angle created makes the rear of the head stick out into the chest. I tried using a cut up piece of a right angled straw today and it worked surprisingly well. Seems to create a bit of a peak in the upper-mid frequencies but nothing too drastic. It's worth it …

I've got a shoot coming up where I need to hook my LMa up to the truck for talent IFB. I'm betting the truck can send me a dry line. However, they have not yet found a truck, so I can't talk to them to confirm. I'm hoping someone can help me with a schematic to make a wet/dry XLR adapter cable. Thanks!

For those with Hirose 10 pin output connections on their mixer and a camera snake with a Neutricon 8 pin connection, this will solve any interconnect problems at the mixer end. This one is 9" as per customers request. Also available is a Hirose 10 pin female to 2x TA5f connectors for Nomad users who want to use a Hirose camera snake to be connected to the aux line outputs and the TA5f camera return. $75 each includes USPS Priority mail delivery. Searched JWS, Google and the ashes of the Library at Alexandria but can't find the pinout for the Engh 7-pin XLR ENG breakaway cable. Anyone here know the config or have a wiring diagram? Or shall I call up Peter and ask if he'll trade the secret for the box of donuts I just got? I have a couple non-break ENG snakes I built and would like to convert them. Neutricon would likely be better than the 7-pin XLR so I might go that route if I can figure out all the correct parts to order. The 7-pin connector is certainly less confusing as far as ordering goes! Thanks for any info!

So I want to go from the two TA3 outputs on a SRb to the TA5 input on my Nomad (the "return" TA5 inputs). Any suggestions for what cable will fit in the TA connectors, especially because I need to make a Y cable and fit 2 cables in one of the TA ends. Thinking what is thin enough to fit in that kind of setup, but also rugged enough for my bag rig. Ideally I would love some way to make an "h" cable so I have a single line going from the Nomad to the SRb, then a little leg to the other TA3, but I don't see that working with the size of the TA connectors.

Since the commercially available barrel pads are so long and bulky I decided to make a 20dB balanced L-pad (U-pad) out of a 2' XLR patch cable. The problem is it wont pass P48 or 12T power. It does work with dynamic mics, and attenuates as intended, but not with my condensers which of course is the reason I made it. Not sure if i made it wrong or am missing something. Any suggestions? I followed these instructions http://www.uneeda-audio.com/pads/

Just wanted to share my Thunderbolt CF reader that I built. It took some trial and error, but I found a good working solution that really speeds things up at the end of the day. Links and pics through the link. http://texassoundguy.blogspot.com/2013/04/creating-thunderbolt-compact-flash-card.html

For those playing along at home, the cable stock is Mogami 2490 (basically lav cable) stuffed into some micro paracord for additional strength, but retaining small size and flexibility. And it's colourful!

My camera breakaway cables are made with Mogami W2602 (4 pair) cable. I plan to make some new extensions with Neutricon connectors and I'm just wondering if there is a better or newer cable style than this.

I've just put together a travel NP1 charger by combining a Li-Ion charger from audioroot's ebay shop and an NP1 shoe http://rtsound.net/?p=315 Seems to work. I'm wondering whether I can hook it up to my hawk-woods distro on the unregulated lead. I've <hat>. I've also got an extra charger, so can put another one together (minus the NP1 shoe)

The belt clips on the trx900la tend to slip off, especially on thick belts. So I'm experimenting with making my own. Here is v1. I've always like the spring clips on smqvs, and thought they work quite well. The main drawback to this clip is you have to remove it to change batteries. To me, that's pretty easy. If it works out in the field, I'll make a few more for all my radios. K

I moon light as a local performer and I'd like, for performance sake, play the radio shack learning lab on stage tonight. promo for competition and reasoning for needing something cool to perform with. I'm not sure exactly what the output to the speaker. I'm pretty sure it is sending .2 milliamps. The speaker ohms reads 200 I connected the two output wires to a home stereo line in and it played fine and sounded usable. What I would like to do is connect the two output wires to a line input on my motu to go into my computer rig. Line input is 100-600 ohms. So it should work right? Am I missing anything? I've still got a bit of learning to do. than…

I have had this old style vdB pole, 12 foot, for a number of years and it has been a good, quiet pole. Lately though, it has developed a lot of handling noise and, upon inspection, it has some kinks in the internal, straight cable which make a flopping sound when cueing and on other moves. I have decided to replace the cable to try and cure the noise problem. On the old cable there are three small, foam donuts glued to the cable near the tip at eight inch intervals. They would be contained in the thinnest. top section of the pole. I am guessing they keep the cable centered in that section to reduce noise and should be attached to the new cable. What experiences h…

I just wanted a show of hands of how many people would be interested in buying something like this and how much you would be willing to pay. Go ahead and give me your max price. I'm not looking to make any money on this, just keep myself from absorbing the high cost of a 1-off. If the price ends up being lower, that will be the price - just seeing how many people would qualify at what volume run. There obviously would be no commitment, but answer positively if this was something that you would pull your credit card out and order it now if it were available now. If I order just 1 for myself, it is going to cost me $610 or so, for the metal work alone, not including…

Does anyone know where I can source the switchcraft Sennheiser G3 style connectors? Part # 35HDLNAU Ive looked around at the typical carriers for parts and no one has any in stock. I would like to buy a bundle of them, so I'd need more than just a couple. Thanks!

I am setting up an audio bag for the SD664 which I recently received and am pondering what cable to use for the Lectro to mixer input connections, right angle XLR to straight XLR. I want to keep the bag as light and uncluttered as possible. I have some Canare L-2E5 on hand and though that it might be the ticket however I also have some Mogami 2697 which would be very lightweight. I think the 2697 might be good for this usage--short cables that never leave the bag. Does anyone have an opinion on these cables or a better recommendation? Thanks, Bob

Does anyone know the size of the screws used in the old 'flat' right angle Neutrik female XLR connectors? I'm trying to get my hands on replacements.
