Hi, I'm new on this forum and I hope we'll can share ideas. I've a problem. I have to powering a Sennheiser SK 100 G3 transmitter via the Sennheiser DC2 power converter original part. I need a 220VAC input to 6-18VDC output power converter the smallest possible. I've to be sure this power converter will not generate crackling or interference to the lavalier microphone I'll connect on the transmitter. All your advices are welcome. Thanks. Regards.

Got tired of watching everyone use the Video Village cart as a hangout for chips, drinks and other junk which would end up landing on my Decimator 2's. Went to the Army Surplus store and now have a very portable solution which holds 2 Decimator's with Battery in one nice neat case... Waiting for a ethernet panel connector to land after which I will install my Cat 5 video feed inside also. Will use the exterior output when I need to go wireless..

I was missing a few "connector ring nuts" from my g2 and G3 sets, wanted to get replacements as I was self refurbing the units I have. Found the official part #600357 at full compass for $3.50 each http://www.fullcompass.com/product/438166.html Searched for a cheaper supplier and came across "Round knurled nut for M6 sized hardware and audio jacks/adapters" on JAMECO $0.19 each, 10+ qty. part number 2183226 http://www.jameco.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10001_10001_2183226_-1 Ordered a bunch, figured it'd be a cheap mistake if it didn't work out. Took about a week to get to me, but I'm happy to report they fit perfectly.

I recently purchased a very nice bloop slate from another JWsound member. After receiving it I figured I'd just use the clip on the unit, but then realized it would fit perfectly in one of the stock Petrol pouches. The only issue was there was no hole in the Petrol Pouch for either the light or the piezoelectric speaker (this unit is capable of line level XLR out only - no piezo - or line level signal plus acoustic piezo output). So a few holes later and I now have a custom bloop slate & matching semi-custom pouch! P.S. For anyone interested in the actual slate, it was made custom by Cramped Attic in Vancouver. It's really a wonderful unit and is built extre…

Hi all, if like me you have a Tentacle Sync version 1 with a weak battery, then like me, you probably are having a terrible time finding any information on how to change it. Most retailers I contacted did not have stock on this part, let alone know that the part was available from Tentacle. Its an easy fix. The battery replacement kit which comes with a battery, new plastic housing, velcro hook tape, super glue and rubber color bands. I was able to open mine without causing damage to the original housing, so I just glued it back together on the side of the case opposite the screw. Here are some pictures:

Hello, I am in the process of getting an LCR stereo setup for the first time (after years of 2 channels stereo recordings). Those of you who have used it for a while, what cable would you recommend to built my own XLR7 cables? I have been doing some research and have not yet found a proper cable with 3 pairs, good flexibility, and a suitable ext. diameter of no more than 6mm. Thanks Fred

I have a Canare breakaway cable that I use to connect my SD 302 to camera. Recently, I've encountered a problem where one of the channels on the return will cut out. I had been able to fix it by jiggling the 1/8" return cable at the camera end, but that has stopped working. I unscrewed the housing and there doesn't appear to be any broken connections (though I'm no expert). There was also a broken connection at the 8-pin connector end of the camera end, but a friend soldered that back for me, which seemed to fix it. Has anyone else had this problem? Were you able to fix it yourself? What should I be looking for? Would it be better to just send it to Canare for…

i had a m10 and some old dpa4060 lying around and put together a small rig that i can take with me on travels. really surprised how nice that sounds. the m10 delivers about 3volts, enough to power the dpa´s. the preamps sound more than ok for such a little box. and it runs half a day on 2 AA´s. the mics are mounted on a hd25. i replaced the 3.5mm jack mic input on the recorder with a less fragile connector . if you rip out the internal mics, there is enough space to put in small connector ( hirose in this case ). you will need something with 4 pins, as the original input is activated by shorting 2 contacts by the sleeve of the jack. and two short sound s…

Greetings all: I have a simple technical question: I'm finally wiring up some camera return adapters for my 788T/CL-9 Sound Devices setup. The 2 returns on the CL-9 are line level balanced XLR inputs. Camera return will be on an unbalanced stereo 1/8" TRS connector. What would be the appropriate wiring for the TRS 1/8" female to XLR male cable adapter? Thanks! -Adam

So, I just put together this cart last week for a show I started this week. It's working pretty well so far, but the main issue is that its top heavy and the wheels don't seem to be spaced the right way in order to support the weight when pushing. Of course pushing from the smart wheels side is easier, but it's tough getting it moving from a static position. I was thinking to maybe outrig the smart wheels so they are a little further out from the base, as well as getting some larger back wheels to help getting over bumps and such. Anyone have and thoughts or ideas on how to get this done? Thanks so much! Steve

Using the Pelican 1300 for a batt case is pretty common, and several sound houses have long sold custom assembled ones. However, it has been my observation that the resulting weight clearly exceeds what the Pelican 1300 was designed for. As such, I've always been attentive to the pins that hold the handle to the case, which can be problematic on Pelican cases in general but pose a substantial safety concern here. On the 1300 the pin can easily work its way out of one of the two thin blades of plastic on each side of the handle, and you might have a drop occur. You do not want the battery-loaded case falling on your foot or anyone else's. Here's a simple mod I did to …

Hey everyone, So I was referred to this forum by someone over at Gearslutz (click here for my original forum post on this, in detail), as I'm trying to build something which may resemble the 'sound carts' which I've heard some of you may have used. The concept I'm creating is a cart that I can use as a live music performance station; this consists of a small computer, a touch monitor, and peripherals to handle my user input via keyboard, audio I/O, and foot control. I'm thinking of doing this pretty DIY by getting a hand truck such as this one, and then mounting a case (like this one, with the lids hinged to the box), with my gear mounted inside t…

last week one of my erx's took a hit while a client was wearing it and the lcd screen was cracked. what a travesty. the client is paying for it of course. almost $200 With all the shipping. it was in a bodyglove case which i know is certainly not bulletproof but i didnt realize the screens could get damaged so easily. i went to a hardware store and bought a sheet of lexan and i am now cutting them into small pieces for ea erx in my kit and even though it is overkill i am also going to cut pieces for every receiver in my bag as well. SRB screens can get pretty easily dinged and the qrx lcd's all appear to be the same lcd's as the erx's. drawing the line at trx's though sin…

This weekend I need to record two walkie talkies (Motorola MTP850 s), I managed to get two earpieces (Eukay EU-B0101S-M7) that I'd like to use for a direct input to my recorder. Any ideas how to do this safely?

Greetings JWS, I finally get a new one. I've usually seen this one used on benches for soldering, electronics and related. I like it, especially the magnifier, but what do you use? Is there anything better, newer, or updated?..or perhaps a DIY/Mod that you like? I know this is one place I might find a really unique answer. Thanks for any input.

A long shot here but… amp is fried on this powered speaker i used to use in the field, and at one time there was repair services for what must have been a common problem with these powered speaker modules. I sat so long on the repair that repair kits or repair services seem no longer available. Anyone here ever replace a powered amp module in a speaker? Would still like to try n repair even with dif amp manufacturer or convert to passive speaker

I finally figured an effective way to strip the tiny wires that Sanken uses on their COS-11 and CUB-1. Fire. A lit match will burn everything but the copper. With a bit of care, the fire will quickly burn about 1/2 " of wire, revealing nice, shiny copper. It only takes a split second, so be careful!

I read somewheres that pin 3 should be tied to pin 1 ground, or floated all together for certain devices, saying that the cable can act as an antenna, etc. Cant seem to find an answer to one or the other as to which is best when wiring cables for senny transmits as camera links. Anyone have any insight? And on that note, any info on what to do with pin 3 in general umbalanced connections? kp

I have a pair of DPA 4061 wired with Lectrosonics connectors and I want to be able to plug them into an XLR input on my 702, so I'm planning to wire up a couple of adaptor cables. I'm just a little unsure about which pins to solder where. From what I can tell looking at the info on the Lectrosonics page here - http://www.lectroson...tid,10/view,kb/ - and from my knowledge of wiring XLR cables, I should be doing the flowing: XLR: Pin 1 - Shield / Ground Pin 2 - Signal Pin 3 - Singal *Pin 2 and 3 are shorted together and thus recieve the same signal. TA5M: Pin 1 - Shield / Ground Pin 2 - Signal Pin 3 - Signal Pin 4 - Signal Pin 5 - Empty *…

Finally getting close to finishing up my new cart. It started out as a Magliner water cooler bottle cart. I flipped the nose and added 4" locking casters to the front. Removed a shelf to make room for the rack case and have repurposed the rack case lids as work surfaces. The front lid can be secured to the top of the case with window latches. Added four QuickFists, three for boom poles and one for an old pole repurposed as an antenna mast. Rack contains an AC power conditioner, a 3u and 2u drawer. The drawers didn't have latches, so I added some magnetic cabinet latches and hey work great. LED light strips under each shelf, and one st…
