Hello all, I saw recently someone selling a scope on a facebook group, and I was wondering what kind of uses does a scope have in the audio field? I have very narrow knowledge fields of electronics, and I am new to the audio field when it comes to technicals. Any input is appreciated. Regards, Jeremy

Just checking what the correct breakout connector is for the Sonosax 26pin accessory port. I believe it's the 3M MDR 10126-3000PE and the shell's separate. http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3M/en_US/Interconnect/Home/Products/ProductCatalog/Catalog/?PC_7_RJH9U5230O73D0ISNF9B3C3SI1000000_nid=DJFBQ3FR2TitPBF9SM2BBQglRFTHB2V5GXbl Can anyone confirm this, please?

I'm looking to make an electromagnetic pickup microphone for an upcoming project and am wondering if anybody here has any experience in doing such a thing. I'm probably just going to buy a relatively cheap guitar pickup and wire an xlr end to it (and then keep it the hell away from all of my hard drives). There's a resource here: http://jedsound.com/blog/?p=200 that mentions needing specific wiring instructions but doesn't say specifically what they may be. Any and all advice appreciated as ever.

The final breath of life for the original OneUnit. I am assisting its suicide. RIP my friend. You served me well and inspired a technical revolution. I will keep using and reusing your organs forever. And leaving the battery slot in you because it’s still better then Nova.

Hi All, So I was approached about building a 7 pin lemo cable to go between a redrock basestation and a microremote torque motor. My guy wants a thin, flexible cable, which is all well and good - however Redrock inform me that the current draw of the microremote motor can be up to 0.7 amps. I'm pretty sure that rules out using a nice thin 5core AWG33 w/sheild cable from mogami. Anyone got any magic, problem solving knowledge of a 2mm OD 5 core + shield cable stock that is rated for 0.7 amps? Apologies if any of this is gobbledygook - I'm not fully conversant when it comes to cameras. I've been looking online for a while for a suitable cable stock but thought …

Just completed this with the wonderful help of Mr. Eric Toline. I would have had a very difficult time with this as I continue to learn soldering techniques but he made it very easy. I continue to find a plethora of knowledge here and I am still amazed at how helpful and generous many of the experienced mixers have been. Thanks Eric!

Im about to possibly screw up a Mac Mini. I have the P1900, dc to dc inverter, as I'm cheaper than borscht I wasn't paying $30.00 plus another $30+ is shipping and duty for their interconnect cable. I managed to find one for $3.00. I'm assuming that the color code pig tails on the cable match the color code on the P1900. Usually when I assume something I get it wrong. Anybody been there? Anything else to watch out for? I want the simplest hook up possible for my tiny brain to get around it.

Hi everyone, I just bought the mixpre 10t ii last week, and on my first shoot (which got canceled before it even began, no less) I somehow managed to shear off the exterior of the headphone connector. No idea how this happened, and my headphone's 1/8" jack is not bent or damaged either. See the attached photos. SD offered to fix it, but I won't have a recorder for 2 weeks and would have to pay for inbound shipping. They alternatively offered to send me a replacement part, but were specific in not being able to offer guidance on how to DIY the repair, which is understandable. Rather than take it to a reseller for repair and spend ~$75-150, I was won…

Born out of frustration - having a bunch of expensive gear on set and not having a quick solution to what seems like a simple request - "can i hear playback in my cans please?". I built a project box recently because of the need of playback on set from camera takes to director and video village when using my 633 and this option not being available like its big brother the 664 provides. I wanted to post this info in case it might help others in the same situation come up with a solution to fit their individual needs. I have been using it a few weeks now with complete success! will try to post pics of the actual box asap but it is nothing fancy by any means at this point. A…

Hey everyone, This is actually more of a question for Jeff, but I thought I'd post it here in case anyone else knew the answer, or would be curious about doing this in the future. In this post, Jeff was talking about how he hooked up the amp section of his Cambridge Soundworks System 12 to his DC distro on his cart. I recently purchased a used system 12, and I was going to wire up a cable this evening to interface with my PSC Power Station. However, I was concerned that I might be risking blowing out the amp hooking it up directly. Is there anything else I need to do besides wire up a 12v cable with a XLR4M on one end and the appropriate DC connector on the other…

After picking up a very cheap Sennheiser SK50 transmitter and doing some research, I found it should be possible to re- tune it by replacing the PROM chip which contains the PLL prescaler values. Sennheiser will re-tune it at the factory at a price, but I've go this far (and learned quite a bit about how radio mics work in the process)- Firstly I've managed to read the PROM using an Arduino board: http://hackaday.com/...ade-rom-dumper/ and got the following values (HEX), corresponding (?) to frequencies (MHz): 48054385 724.9 48444385 724.1 40724385 721.4 48414385 719.3 48604385 718.1 400F3385 715.2 400E3385 713.6 406C3…

So far this is the best case and headphone combo i have found for the erx that withstands client abuse. Might help with erx headphone connector damage I hear folks having to deal with: - Sony MDR-210 Headphones - bought these and cut them 2' from connector to cut back cable slack - added Neutrik 1/8" stereo right angle connector - Body Glove EZ View LARGE smartphone case (I ordered 10 online, 4 of which were LARGE and 6 were MEDIUM. the larger size allows better protection and full screen view. request LARGE if possible). The headphone cable length seems to be perfect for belt clip and handheld listening with minimal cable snag. The right angle connector combine…

Saw this in my never ending internet browse. Not bad for 16 bucks, course you usually do get what you pay for. Still could be a decent addition to a kit as a backup. http://ossmann.blogspot.com/2010/03/16-pocket-spectrum-analyzer.html

From time to time I have needed a battery operated speaker and made do with some small off the shelf powered speaker. I have a fairly extensive junk part room so I was able to keep the cost down. The speaker is a small two driver Teac speaker from that auction place. The preamp and amplifier also came from there. I chose to go with V mount batteries because I am invested in that system and the is a D tap on the battery plate giving an additional source of power. You could use any of the small camera batteries out there as mounts are readily available. 1/8", 1/4" TRS and XLR inputs go to the line level preamp, then to a 60w class D amp. An additional bluetooth recei…

Someone recently posted some pics of a cable they made to go from ERX1 to XLR and BNC. I saw the pic briefly while I was working and wanted to come back and look at it again in detail but for the life of me I can't find the post!

For those who roll their own video BNC cables what parts do you like to use? I’m currently using Belden 1505F cable with Canare connectors. Pretty happy with this combo overall. But every once and awhile the BNC locking ring breaks off. Anyone try out Neutrik’s reartwist BNCs?

Hi Guys. I have the recommended Lemo FVB.00.303.NLA connector and need to make up an XLR (F) line level cable for my Zaxcom TRXLA3. Besides patience, anyone got some words of wisdom on how to do this. I'm assuming both resistors will be wired in the XLR as the lemo is too tiny. Also, how do you attach the screen to the Lemo connector body? Many thanks, Sebastian
