I need to make up a line to mic 1/8" mini to 1/8" mini plug cable for a friend. The output is a Tascam DR100 recorder consumer level line output feeding a 5D Mkii Mic Input. Any pointers for wiring in a resistor pad would be appreciated.. Mr Toline??

After troubleshooting in my spare time regarding a distortion issue I was having with one of my G2 wirelesses, I learned that the female input connector to the G2 receiver was loose. I've delved into replacing antennas on some of my G2s and they all worked out great. I found very useful information on this site as well as the JW facebook page as to replacing the antennas, BTW. However, any tips on resoldering the 3.5 mm female connector on the G2? Or has that process proven to be too intricate that it has to be sent to Sennheiser for repair?

I've come into possession of an Audio Technica cardioid lav: ATM350 (cW) (along with an omni cousin, an AT899c). I'd like to reterminate it for Lectro, and I'm trying to figure out if this is even possible with this mic. With some digging, I've identified the pinouts on the existing connector, but I haven't found reliable information about the required bias voltage. The official spec sheet lists 11-48V phantom, which obviously wouldn't work with anything except a plug-on transmitter, but that is for the cabled version, which includes an in-line adapter that accepts phantom. I have the "wireless version" (ATM350cW), which "features a 1.4 m (55") miniature cabl…

Hi all, I have a Senken Cos-11d lav mic that is currently terminated with an XLR that allows 48v phantom power. I want to change this to a Sennheiser-type 3.5mm TRS tip, but am getting mixed info from Sanken and Sennheiser. I own the G4 500 series wireless transmitter/receiver from Sennheiser (which is a balanced signal). Most literature — and in fact the wiring diagram Sanken sent me, is for the g3 unbalanced series. In this, it tells me to combine the ground and shield on the TRS side. But wouldn’t this unbalance my cos-11D? does anyone know the specific wiring for the G4 500 series Sennheisers that maintains a balanced signal. Or perhaps…

Just wondering the Order of attack with such a thin wire?, shrink wrap down to thicken it up? What about where the cable exits the lemo connector, I see the Trew audio cables etc when they do Lemo's it has that black "BOOT" I'm guessing that is a special type of shrink wrap?, trying to get some to add strain relief like they do... Any idea where to get this? Anyone have a countryman B6 wired for Lectro and willing to post a picture of how it's strain relieved / shrink wrapped (booted) ?? Thanks heaps for any help

Hi, I thought someone might have use for this. A small SDR and RTL2832 dongle combo for scanning frequencies if having problems with radio mics or RF interference. I use HDSDR but there are plenty of others around that are free including some basic spectrum analysers. The dongle connects via usb2 and antenna via sma. Inside the dongle the rtl chip can receive from 100khz to 2ghz (my version). Most do 50mhz up to 1.5ghz. Might be good for troubleshooting RF. GlennP

The final breath of life for the original OneUnit. I am assisting its suicide. RIP my friend. You served me well and inspired a technical revolution. I will keep using and reusing your organs forever. And leaving the battery slot in you because it’s still better then Nova.

Has anybody got experience using both Rycote and Rode windshield solutions?I am trying to mount a pair of Sennheiser MKH8050s in an ORTF configuration inside some wind protection for recording atmos outdoors. I have found a solution using a Rycote WS4 windshield and by making a couple of low-profile XLRs to get it all to fit inside. The problem is.. it fits, but only just. Even with the small mics and low-profile connectors, there is only about a millimetre or two between the inside of the windshield and the mics. This is causing the mics to bang against the inside with the slightest movement.I need just a little more space and so I am planning on buying a Rode windshield …

I've got a gig coming up where I'm going to use my NT-SF1 to record a music performance in surround and want to get some more distance between the mic and my bag. I reached out to Rode technical support and they were kind enough to give me the mic pinout, which is on a Neutrik 10 pin XLR. Much easier than beeping out the breakout cable I got my box o' parts from Redco today. 10 pin XLRs and a hunk of TGS-04: Done an hour later, checked out fine. Not the most difficult connectors I've worked on but took some planning to figure out the best connection order. Tested perfectly with the mic, now I have a nice 25' extension!

So I noticed that the Rodelink wireless system has an option to power the unit through a micro usb cable instead of batteries. I've got a BDS system but unfortunately no one (including Rode) sells a micro usb to barrel DC cable. Anyone have any success making one? I tried but can't seem to get a working one.

I've recently come across this small box- miniDSP USBstreamer: https://www.minidsp.com/products/usb-audio-interface/usbstreamer Tiny USB board with ADAT/SPDIF connectors, however- interestingly it comes with I2C connectivity, which is standard for chip to chip digital audio. I've been looking for a DC powered box which will do AES3 in and out with sample rate conversion and with the exception of the Metric Halo LIO-8 (which needs firewire and OSX) there isn't really anything out there. I'm yet to find something ready made (like an evaluation board) which will do 8 channels of AES3 in and out, but miniDSP do a 2 channel board- I'm wondering if they can all run off…

Here is my first attempt at making a small LiFePO4 battery pack. The parts shown are: $10.95 Pelican 1010 Mico Case $31.60 (4x) LiFePO4 26650 3400mAh cells $6.45 PCB-LFP12.8V2A Protection Circuit Module $31.95 H01280007-US-D1 LiFePO4 12.8V 0.7A Charger $7.04 (8x) Keystone 87 C Battery Holders some solder, some hookup wire, glue, and a spare 2.5mm female jack Total cost was under $90. For a 3.2Ah battery pack, this may not seem like a great deal. If you take out the cost of the charger, it is around $60. A Sony NP-F970 is $103 from B&H and is 6300mAh @ 7.2V, so these batteries probably have about the same power, only the cu…

Hi guys Just needing a little assistance regarding the cable techniques Rx emergency unit which I recently bought. I'm finding the noise floor extremely high and I'm sure that shouldn't be the case. I'm using a Lectro 411a, outputting line level @ 0dBu from the receiver into the mix in of my 302. I'm getting decent audio levels but the hiss is bad. I've tried it on my other 411a with the same results. The one possible cause I thought of could be the balanced cable which I wired myself, however from an XLR to TA3F the wiring is straight forward 1 to 1, 2 to 2 and 3 to 3. Unless I need to add a resistor somewhere. Any help would be appreciated! Sebastian

Hello, has anyone here tried to put their own coiled cable into a rycote boompole without one? The construction seems almost the same. I only need the cable and cut the hole in the bottom. Also - any tips on sourcing coiled cable? Thanks, Jonas

Chap on another list was asking about something like this. I put one together this afternoon from bits and pieces. Black Rapid Fasten R-3, thread converter (1/4" to 3/8") and a snap-hook. I know a length of shot-cord is cheaper, but this seemed like an elegant solution. Best wishes, John

Greetings fellow sound-lovers, I am used to recording ORTF with 2x oktavas on a stereo bar using bbgs as wind protection. It is ok and I managed to have a system that is not incredibly frustrating in terms of set-up time. However, I feel it is time to upgrade and I am leaning towards the sennheiser MKH 8040s using one of the more recent ORTF kits from Rycote. I realize rycote sells a great looking kit – Stereo Windshield WS AE ORTF KIT (MZL)– using the ORTF suspension, connbox with cabling for the 8000 series… but this system is 350mm long including the end caps. This is great but I am trying to fit it in my backpack and I would really appreciate cut…
