My camera breakaway cables are made with Mogami W2602 (4 pair) cable. I plan to make some new extensions with Neutricon connectors and I'm just wondering if there is a better or newer cable style than this.

I want to build my own Breakaway cable and have been totally inspired by the cable Engin Kaplan built: The only difference is that I am not going to build mine with TC as I am worried about noise down the line. I am also going to use Remote Audio CA3PS26 cable instead of Mogami. My questions are as follows: 1. Do the Remote Audio extension cables use the same connector on both ends so that it doesn't matter which end you grab? If so, are they male or female? (I am going to use the Neutricon 8 pin) 2. What size tech flex do I need to tech flex each inner 3 pair? 3. I seem to notice that most breakouts are about 1.5', even at the bag end. Does …

I have a Canare breakaway cable that I use to connect my SD 302 to camera. Recently, I've encountered a problem where one of the channels on the return will cut out. I had been able to fix it by jiggling the 1/8" return cable at the camera end, but that has stopped working. I unscrewed the housing and there doesn't appear to be any broken connections (though I'm no expert). There was also a broken connection at the 8-pin connector end of the camera end, but a friend soldered that back for me, which seemed to fix it. Has anyone else had this problem? Were you able to fix it yourself? What should I be looking for? Would it be better to just send it to Canare for…

last week one of my erx's took a hit while a client was wearing it and the lcd screen was cracked. what a travesty. the client is paying for it of course. almost $200 With all the shipping. it was in a bodyglove case which i know is certainly not bulletproof but i didnt realize the screens could get damaged so easily. i went to a hardware store and bought a sheet of lexan and i am now cutting them into small pieces for ea erx in my kit and even though it is overkill i am also going to cut pieces for every receiver in my bag as well. SRB screens can get pretty easily dinged and the qrx lcd's all appear to be the same lcd's as the erx's. drawing the line at trx's though sin…

We've clearly been overthinking this. We just need a bird feeder, a sink strainer, a paint roller, and a few other things. Some clever ideas in here, but uh... Under 5 minutes. If the audio at the head drives you nuts, jump to 1:45 for the step-by-step instructions.

Hey everyone, So I was referred to this forum by someone over at Gearslutz (click here for my original forum post on this, in detail), as I'm trying to build something which may resemble the 'sound carts' which I've heard some of you may have used. The concept I'm creating is a cart that I can use as a live music performance station; this consists of a small computer, a touch monitor, and peripherals to handle my user input via keyboard, audio I/O, and foot control. I'm thinking of doing this pretty DIY by getting a hand truck such as this one, and then mounting a case (like this one, with the lids hinged to the box), with my gear mounted inside t…

Hiya gang. So I wanted to build a stereo breakout cable for my Sony A7iii, so that I could have 2 mono inputs on the stereo jack. I saw this cable: https://foundsound.com.au/products/10940 And tried to build it. my wiring was: Tip female jack: Tip contact to tip contact on male minijack; ground to ground on male minijack. Ring contact empty. Ring female jack: Ring contact to ring contact on male minijack; ground to ground on male minijack. Tip contact empty. To combine the grounds of the two female jacks i just twisted the two shields together and soldered it onto the male minijack. The ring input sounded fine, but the t…

Looking to see if anyone can recommend aes digital cable preferred to use for custom cables in mixer bags. I have blue aes cable by Clark Cable I am currently using and it's not the greatest size and hard to solder with. About to run out so looking for a better replacement.

I'm thinking about building an AES breakout for my Nova, which has a mini DB-15 connector, better known as a VGA monitor plug, at the source. Obviously, this pinouts are completely different, but I'm wondering if I can take a shortcut and butcher an old VGA cable to give me the plug end, and then splice the outputs farther down the cable. I only need about 12 inches of cable. My gut says this won't work: The ground for the Nova is pin-8, whereas VGA ground is pin-5, and I doubt that VGA shares impedance or frequency characteristics with AES. But ... for anyone who has tried or thought about this. Am I completely crazy to attempt this?

I made a 1/8” stereo cable for a dvd player for the kids in the car from scrap cable and connectors. As soon as we tap into 12v power in the car there is a buzz in the audio and whine that follows acceleration. Is there a trick to build into the cable to “lift” or otherwise combat the buzz that occurs that someone here might be familiar with?

I’m going to build a cable for audio in on the Arri Mini. It uses the R/A Lemo FHG.00.305.CLAD35Z. Max cable diameter is .38mm. 4 conductor with a shield. What cable are you guys using? Spec on connector https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/LEMO/FHG00305CLAD35Z?qs=%2Fha2pyFadugrjZtBm4M%2Fgo0l1P4DdGKqAXLAi0gLSSk%2BwiGeYooWgrdgSFs5X7Vq

Will a 3.5mm TRS to 3.5mm TRS work to feed guide track audio to a 5D from a Comtek PR-216? (The same cable you may use to feed your car stereo music from your iPod?) If not, would someone be so kind as to enlighten me to the proper cable needed? I should also mention that making my own cables is something I'm new at, but I would like to give a try.

Ok so I think I have tried everything and I just want to make sure that I am nor completely crazy. I use an r1a as a hop sometimes to the Alexa XT and Red scarlet/epic cameras. No matter how I wire it, I always have to pull out the trs connector on the r1a halfway in order to get some signal through to these cameras. I followed all the wiring diagrams for both cameras from their respective manuals, and probably everything inbetween, made balanced and unbalanced cables, and I am getting the same result or nothing at all. I read in the Lectrosonics manual that the r1a has an auto switching circuit that 'senses' that its a mono or stereo cable, and turns off the ring circuit…

I'm thinking about putting my Cooper 208 on a sliding shelf in an SKB case. I've never had a chance to really look at this kind of setup from the back end. Anybody care to comment on a good approach for a collapsing cable bundle? - one that will unfold and fold back up without wear and tear. Thanks

Hi, I´m about to solder CAL-48 and CAL-120 (Lemo FVB.00.303.NLAE24 on one end and TA5F/TA3F on the other) for Wisycom MTP40s and need to find a proper cable with right dimensions for this. 1 screen, 2 conductor-cable with max 2,5 mm diameter. Any suggestions?

I am looking for a recommendations for a 5 wire cable (4 wire plus shield). I'm looking to wire a 5 pin to 5 pin. I thought about using some star-quad but I heard from various sources that by using a star-quad in this application wasn't a good thing since star-quad wasn't designed to operated this way. Thanks Jack

I want to whip up a few BDS cables (Remote audio BDS to Lectro SR) for my bag rig and I have a lot of Redco TGS-01 on hand (it's my go to for small audio cables). Is there a compelling reason not to use it for this application? I figure if I just trim back the shield/drain wire and use only the red and white wires inside it should be fine. Does using a shielded cable present unnecessary risk? What's your go to cable for making BDS cables?

Hello all, I’ve been attempting to find a 2 conductor shielded cable that can fit down the Lemo 3 pin crimp ferrule. Does anyone know of such a cable? I cant seem to find a supplier with search filtering that declares a OD for outer jacket overall diameter. Best, Alex

Hey guys and gals, Bit of a noob question, but I'm having some trouble figuring out how to wire my cable. I want to run a Lectro R1a as a wireless reference track to camera(Arri Amira) I need to wire a 3.5mm trs to XLR. I'm concerned that the R1a will output a dual mono signal because it thinks stereo headphones are plugged in. I just want a balanced mono signal from R1a to single XLR input on camera. Is this possible? Thanks for your input and or output
