So I got a 3D printer and I have a few ideas regarding sound related prints. I'm using G3s for sending audio to cameras which I usually place in the side mounted pouches of my OR30. But those pouches are to big for G3s and I had a few fall over. So I came up with this. This is going to be field tested in the next few days. I already know that this is going to be a bit weak since this is a first draft PLA print but I was wondering what are your thoughts on this project and if you had any ideas to improve upon that idea. Just so you know this is not a commercial project and this will probably end up on Thingiverse.

I came across a marine voltmeter with two USB ports and I knew I had to make a BDS with it. I've been using batteries with a USB port built-in. I thought why have the ports in the battery and have to duplicate them (plus having to swap cables during a battery change) when they should be external. You may have seen this, but it's new to me. I bought it more for the USB ports than the voltage meter. But the display a nice bonus. The toggle is a locking switch so it won't accidentally switch off. The input is on the side. I use non-locking connectors. The 5.1/2.1 connectors make very solid connections and I'd rather not mess with the lock if I don't need to, wh…

I'm looking at what could be a good deal on some 4061s that are hardwired to Sennheiser TRS, and I'd like to redo them in Senn/AudioLtd/Wisy/Lectro SSM-compatible 3-pin Lemo. From what I've researched a bit, one would need the right connector to get the right cable diameter for the strain relief to work properly. Any clues on the right connector and a European source?

I've been working on my old Audio Developments 062 mixer that has had active balanced direct outputs added at some point. The direct outs are out of phase with the mix outs. I was going to reverse pins 2 and 3 at the dir outs, but I was wondering if that was by design. Is there a reason you would want to have your dir outs and mix outs out of phase with eachother? A seperate but related question: unbalancing balanced outputs. transformer balanced outputs you can unbalance by shorting pins 1 and 3, and for imepdance and active balanced, you should float pin 3. What if your pin 2 and 3 are reversed (had a panasonic mixer that had pin 3+ and 2- on the outputs…

So some of you might have seen my thread about my recent frustrations with my newer Pelican cases. Well I bought a used Jan-Al case off the great auction site, and once it arrived I proceeded almost immediately with gutting it. Anyways I'll post more photos of the work, but I wanted to share a video of how useful an oscillating tool is for odd jobs like stripping foam off of wood. Sorry for the focus

Hello group! I want to dismantle my UMC200D and use it in my bag rig. Has anyone done this in some clever way, or is it as simple as taking the box with the guts off the rack unit and sticking it in the bag? Thanks, Robert

I'm taking an output off my battery bud (hirose) and feeding 4 receivers from the one output. I've tried but I can't fit 4 cables into the one hirose so I made a hirose to 4 pin xlr then made a 4 xlr that fans out to 4 coax. The in-line XLR is large and I was hoping to find a smaller lighter to replace the 4 pin XLR any thoughts.

Has anyone of you done one? Planning to do some. Short ones, lemo to xlr (from there, if needed i can extend and adapt...) I would put the resistors in the xlr plug, should work, no? Why is the "loop" from ground, around audio?

So far this is the best case and headphone combo i have found for the erx that withstands client abuse. Might help with erx headphone connector damage I hear folks having to deal with: - Sony MDR-210 Headphones - bought these and cut them 2' from connector to cut back cable slack - added Neutrik 1/8" stereo right angle connector - Body Glove EZ View LARGE smartphone case (I ordered 10 online, 4 of which were LARGE and 6 were MEDIUM. the larger size allows better protection and full screen view. request LARGE if possible). The headphone cable length seems to be perfect for belt clip and handheld listening with minimal cable snag. The right angle connector combine…

Dear Colleagues, with great interest, I read this discussion on how to replace the antennas of a Sennheiser EW100 G2; especially the option that might improve the diversity function by building a second Antenna into the receiver is of interest for me. Now I am thinking if there was also a possibility to find a place for the 2nd antenna on a EW500 G2 receiver- as it is very likely that the place You have on the EW100 receiver is taken by the 2nd plug of the EW500 G2. As I have no EW500 G2 on hand to check the possibilities I wanted to ask You, whether anybody knows how it looks inside the EW500 G2 receiver...?! …

I was sick of my Zaxcom CL3 spraying into my RX so I build a dipole antenna and hat I can stick on my harness. It works great and weighs practically nothing!

Anyone have problems with the mini jack input to the Red Epic? I've heard it to be unreliable.

I want an RX Emergency Two to use with my 302, but can't justify the $200 cost. I looked at the tech notes from Sound Devices about connecting to the mix in, but don't know how a variable resistor will interact with the resistor network they recommend. I decided to compromise and build inputs that would connect to the camera returns; this way my controls are "faders" and the trims on the 302 are "gains". Plus I can change the channel 4/5 signal routing in the 302 and not have to add external switches. The box is incredibly simple; Neutrik combo XLR/TRS input jacks, Bournes 10k log taper pots, and a 3.5mm output: …

For those playing along at home, the cable stock is Mogami 2490 (basically lav cable) stuffed into some micro paracord for additional strength, but retaining small size and flexibility. And it's colourful!

I have been using a lot my Lectro HM plug as a wireless boom and i love the quality and how convenient it is. What i was wondering is, would it be possible to modify it as to have a split that can go into a pair of headphones? Thus creating a direct monitoring for the boom op?

Hi, I've been looking at this guide: http://www.lectrosonics.com/component/option,com_fss/Itemid,81/catid,4/kbartid,10/view,kb/ but it becomes a little bit confusing to know how to wire the 4063 model (not the 4060 or 4061 higher voltage models) for my SMV/SMQV transmitters. Would I just take fig.3 and put a 4 Kohm resistor since the 4063 takes less voltage ?

I run a bag with an SD302 and an Edriol R-09 as a backup recorder. I have been going from the headphone out to a G2 and sending that to the director. I would like go be able to chose between L or R channel and figure with a Y cable I could do this. Could I just keep the stero mini jack in the G2 and run the Y cable to the Edriol? Then switch channels by changing mini jacks. Could I just wire one jack tip and ground and the other jack ring and ground? Of am I missing some wiring issue? Thanks, Bob

I've read the documentation for the pinouts going into an iPad (4 pin mini TRRS), but my question has to do with attenuating the signal: According the the Movie Slate website, one should look to attenuate the TC signal by about -22db so it doesn't overload the mic input. Anyone know what rated resistor would do this? Would I just wire it inline of the hot signal and leave the ground untouched? Thanks, -Greg-

Someone recently posted some pics of a cable they made to go from ERX1 to XLR and BNC. I saw the pic briefly while I was working and wanted to come back and look at it again in detail but for the life of me I can't find the post!

I was wondering if anyone knew where you could buy the coiled cable that you find on some XLRs. I wanted to make a few cables with it.

From time to time I have needed a battery operated speaker and made do with some small off the shelf powered speaker. I have a fairly extensive junk part room so I was able to keep the cost down. The speaker is a small two driver Teac speaker from that auction place. The preamp and amplifier also came from there. I chose to go with V mount batteries because I am invested in that system and the is a D tap on the battery plate giving an additional source of power. You could use any of the small camera batteries out there as mounts are readily available. 1/8", 1/4" TRS and XLR inputs go to the line level preamp, then to a 60w class D amp. An additional bluetooth recei…
