I had a D-Tap cable made up for my QRX200, if i tap from the vlock on camera I get a horrible buzz in both channels. If I D-Tap a separate V-Lock the buzz is gone, seems like sharing camera power and the QRX 200 is causing some problems. The camera is a RED Raven. It has 2 D-Taps, one powers a zacuto gratical EYE, the other is on the battery and I want to power the QRX200 with that. Definitely don't want to have to use another source of power, any ideas why i'm getting a buzz?

I got a chance to work with the Panasonic Varicam LT last week, and saw that no one has yet posted any information about it. So I thought I would pass along a report of my experiences. All in all, no surprises with this well appointed cinema camera. I don't know how similar to or different from its bigger brother (Varicam) it is, not having worked with one. It support four channels of audio input. It has an XLR-5F for a stereo mic in on Inputs 1 & 2. It has two more mono XLR jacks for inputs 3 and 4. All four inputs can be recorded simultaneously, with 48V phantom power available in each. Internal recording is 24-bit 48KHz. Input levels are control…

I just wrapped a project involving the Arri Amira Camera with Zaxcom QRX200, QRX235 and the wideband transmitters. I was not happy with the Zaxcom units at first thinking they were not as good as the old units then i was quick to realize that the issue was with the Arri Amira Camera! The camera puts out a ton of RF energy and desensitized all my receivers and my sound persons units. I was wondering if others have had this same experience. I have been digging around for some white papers but have not found any. If any of the sound shops want to borrow my arri amira to create one feel free to reach out. I am currently in the Brooklyn, NY area. Mayb…

As of right now, I'm syncing all my audio the ARRI Alexa Classic with the time code boxes by Tentacle, which works perfect. Just wondering in conjunction with this, I could possibly get a crappy little scratch audio track into camera as I still get this requested by the editor. I've sent wireless audio to camera with a hop before and that works great, but I'm also trying to think of a way to get a tiny little mic on camera, but bring it to line level to that the Alexa can actually record it. I have an MM-1 but that's still bigger than I'm hoping to go. If anyone knows of a cheap little preamp, doesn't have to be professional, just something that would work tempora…

Does anyone know if the XT has the same TC connector as the Alexa Mini. I'm looking at their connector sheet, but can't work out if it's the same. Also the 5 pin audio XLR input is the only audio input correct?, Was hoping I wouldn't need an entirely unique cable for the ERX / Alexa XT again.

Just a little heads up. I worked with BM4.6k and the camera did not want to boot when TC from rx200 was fed in TC in. When the TC is removed camera boots fine.

This may not be the first XLR adapter for GoPro cameras, I haven't really been looking, and those little cameras are a rather regular (net positive) part of my life. But one of these days someone's going to ask me to run sound to this thing...or ask for help for setting up their new really small DIY handheld camera. And I'll cry a little. And then move on... "This Audio Converter is designed to adapt XLR male plugs—industry standard in pro audio situations—into a 10-pin mini-USB stereo plug suitable for GoPro cameras. It features 2x XLR female jacks (for the male XLR connection) and comes with a 15mm rod clamp that can attach to any 1/4"-20 threaded hole. Please note…

I'd like your opinions on this one please... The other day I was on an indie doc shooting on the F55. I was using a G3 as a wireless camera link (notice I didn't say hop) with the squelch setting on 'Lo'. At lunch I powered down the G3 Tx but camera dept. didn't turn off the Rx on the camera. When they powered back up before me the DP saw the audio levels being blasted with the squelch signal and told me to: Tturn it off or disconnect it because he had not yet paid for the camera and didn't want to damage the audio circuitry" I set the squlch to high and walked away. I just want to make sure that my initial feeling that he didn't know what he was talking a…

I started a long term commercial with the Weapon and I usually run sound to the camera with this production company so it outputs in the embedded SDI for VTR and Daily reasons. The first camera body went down in the first hour starting with the audio input failing, then timecode, and etc. The next body worked while we setup and did our tests in the parking lot of our next location. Right when we start rolling my VTR colleague altered me that the audio had a bunch of digital delay and artifacting then just stopped working. We rebooted both of his Wireless video systems and no change, so we just bypassed the problem by using the audio inputs on his microLite Transmitter whi…

Hi there, I'm about to start a long running shoot for a documentary. The production've decided to go with 2 Sony A7s II with ninja flame recorder. I've researched both the net and the manuals of the camera/ninja and can't find a definite answer to my question - Is there a way to jam, input or output timecode from this camera set up? I'm using SD633, sending a scratch track mix to the camera using Senn G3. Time code wise - I was planning to buy Tentacle box and use it to jam my 633, then put it on the camera/recorder, as a TC generator. I could record TC on an audio track on camera, using tentacle, but then i cant feed the camera with my ref mix through Senn rece…

Hi, I'm doing a film soon where the director wants to shoot some of the material with a vhs camera (he didn't specified yet what model they will be using). I assume that vhs cameras don't have any crystal system for keeping sync, right? Supposing we do short segments of dialog only, do you have any idea if we could get away with it or single-system is the only way to go (not a very good one also, and this supposing I could send some audio to the camera, which I don't know yet)?

Be advised - an ERX feeding an Amira will experience intermittent link status on the ERX if the camera's Bluetooth is on. To the Bluetooth off, use the side setup menu, not the one in the eyepiece. azw

Was confronted with this little rig the other day - Sony A7S with Atomos Shogun. Claims to do timecode, but without any input/output terminal, however it does have a Genlock BNC !? Timecode optionally embedded in HDMI output Sets whether or not to layer the TC (time code) information on the output signal via the HDMI terminal when outputting the signal to other professional-use devices. but then says - When [TC Output] is set to [On], the image may not be output properly to the TV or recording device. In such cases, set [TC Output] to [Off]. Good job I took my timecode slate. Plus the Shogun can - Audio: The Shogun can record 12 channels of digital audio em…

I was cabled up to a Sony F55 today, and realized near the end of a long day that despite hearing a consistent and good return monitoring signal, movement in the camera's audio meters had ceased at some point in the last hour. We confirmed via last clip playback that the camera had stopped recording audio, even while continuing to allow for a good return path (to a Sound Devices 322 mixer). How could this be possible, and has anyone else encountered this deadly malfunction? We went through trouble shooting, even as other crews were breaking down, and used another available camera to verify that everything in my audio package was normal. I have had…

Anyone worked with one? I did yesterday and neither myself or the cam-op could figure out how to display large audio meters. The small meters in the bottom are of little use, no idea what the white mark is meant to be (-12dbfs maybe?). I assume the red mark is 0dbfs.

I was on a doc with an Amira a few weeks ago and the cameraperson spent a lot of time shooting slo-mo. The camera said "Sound Disabled" and I was assuming that these were "B roll" type shots. I still boomed them but in a more "relaxed" manner, not reaching for every word, etc. We're doing the same kind of shoot tomorrow and the director informed me that they want the option of speeding slo-mo shots up to 24 fps and syching the sound to my card. I'm going into the camera via camera hop and recording on my 633. It's no problem for me to boom everything in my usual diligent manner, but is it possible for them to sync this sound and is it common practice to have the…

Hello! Yesterday I did a shoot with Red Scarlet. I tried to jam the scarlet with my 633, but it would not jam. I set the 633 to free run, and went into setting->TC and set it to "brain", but it would not jam. I dident find the different TC setting rec run, free run etc. Can anyone tell me what I did wrong? Thanks.

Hi all, I'm wondering whether any of these cables would allow me to jam the F8 and the Arri Alexa mini. First time working with both. Which one you would recommned should be the master TC machine? I'm aware of the sync issues but there is no budget for lockit boxes so I'm thinking in jamming every few hours and when camera and/or F8 are switched off. Here are the links to the cables and pics: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/spanish/c/product/423968-REG/Sound_Devices_XL_LB2_XL_LB2_31_LEMO_5.html/?gclid=CLGq9f3QmMwCFVAvgQodMWEDnw http://www.bhphotovideo.com/spanish/c/product/1021813-REG/laird_digital_cinema_sd_tcd2_01_lemo_5_pin_to_bnc.html thanks a l…

Spurred on by wild curiosity, and a general interest in silly things, I bought the Zoom Q8 camera a little while ago. My primary motivation was to buy something I could take with me traveling. I also kind of rationalized the purchase by telling myself I could use it as a back-up recorder, the sheer silliness of which becomes apparent the moment you hold the thing in your hands and contemplate trying to fit it in a sound bag. Form factor aside, it records sound just as well as other Zoom products like the H4N and the H5. Perhaps my biggest pet peeve is that the stock XY mic capsule that it comes equipped with doesn't have any kind of shock mount like the XYH-5 capsule t…
