Am about to do feature that may use the new DXL2 camera, it has the Red 8k sensor but they have a much upgraded cooling system so hopefully less problematic. Any user reviews re noise and workflow, audio/tc inputs etc, will be feeding audio and TC from zax ERX. Thanks, Chris.

https://www.ferntech.co.nz/DJI_Osmo_Pocket_3.5mm_Adapter Going to be working with a DJI Osmo Pocket and wondering if I can attach a Tentacle Sync E to it (like I will with their Sony a7 camera) and the DJI Osmo Pocket will record stereo from the Tentacle using this adapter? (and if it is does unfortunately only record mono from the Tentacle, can I still record the DJI scratch mic built into the Osmo as well as the Aux LTC??)

Be aware; GH5 has 8 frames of silence at the beginning of each clip. (At least in the 4K material I got.) Now, Avid MC can read AUX 'sorta kinda' from these clips (it's hit and miss), but it will set the start TC to the first found LTC frame, thus being off by 8 frames. Other applications (including mine) are smarter, but do warn your clients if they are on MC (Not sure if that is a fixed offset though, but a quick and dirty fix is to (positive) offset the BWF's by 8 frames.) How do I know? <rant> Got a job to convert 5 shooting days of GH5 material to something else, since MC cannot natively read these files. No…

Hello! Does anyone know how to adjust the level from the 5 pin audio output on sony xdcams? I searched the manual and found nothing. The camera op couldent help me either. The level is way to high and overloads the headphone amp on my 664 :S

Hi, I'm doing a film soon where the director wants to shoot some of the material with a vhs camera (he didn't specified yet what model they will be using). I assume that vhs cameras don't have any crystal system for keeping sync, right? Supposing we do short segments of dialog only, do you have any idea if we could get away with it or single-system is the only way to go (not a very good one also, and this supposing I could send some audio to the camera, which I don't know yet)?

Yesterday the new Sony FX6 got announced (which I bet will end up becoming the #1 camera choice for many folks, replacing the dominant #1 market share position that the FS7 has had for years. As like the FS7 before it, this new FX6 hits the sweet spot for a lot of features at a very good price). Of course a lot of discussion online is comparing the Sony FX6 with the cheaper Sony a7Smk3, but one comment in particular stood out to me just now: "this camera will most likely get Netflix certified whereas the A7sIII probably never will." Which instantly made my mind go *click*! Ohhhhhhh........... now I realize why the FX6 has Timecode I/O when the Sony FS…

Working with two this weekend. Anyone know what to look out for? Looks like no TC in/out, my bet is that it's very similar to the Fs7.

Hi I found the wiring for red 5pin xlr. I'm Wondering if I can wire the LR receiver Ta3 mono to a 5pin xlr out to both Red channels as client likes to playback most takes. Having both speakers playing on monitor would be more "professional" though I understand it would not give me that much more volume. I'm unclear of phases issues with this kind of wiring. Thanks

Am shooting a feature film at the moment with 2x Sony PMW-F3, and yesterday I couldn't get timecode working at all with A Cam. Because they're F3 cameras which only do 8 bit internal but have 10 bit external, we were only using external recording with them. I had no problem at all having correct timecode on B Cam's recorder, but we were using an SDI recorder on that one. However was impossible for me to get it working on the day with the A Cam recorder which was an HDMI one. Has any one else encountered issues before with timecode from a Sony PMW-F3 over HDMI?

Hi. I need to connect my SD 788T with a Panasonic AG-AF100P to synchronize Time Code. Camera as Master and 788T as slave, but I don't know where connect cable to the camera.

Also contacted wooden camera just to see if they sold pigtails, they only sell the A box which I'm trying to avoid -Ken

On a shoot with FS7 at the moment. Timecode via bnc fed from Ambient Lockit Box. Drift from fs7 of a few seconds in afternoon possibly after battery change. Didn’t think this should happen if fed continuous TC from lockit? Cam on preset and freerun and accepts Timecode when rejammed. Anyone else have any issues with this please? Using 688 to jam lockit thanks

I recently worked on a feature shot on an Epic using a Bartech wireless follow focus that made a very annoying intermittent, constantly changing motor noise that I picked up anytime the camera was close to talent. Has anyone else had this issue? We had our rental house bring another follow focus of the same digital model but that also had the same issue. Our steadicam op had his own analog model that did not make significant noise. I build a cover for it that cut down the sound somewhat. I hope I don't have to deal with this again.

https://support.red.com/hc/en-us/articles/360001379467 The sheer utter madness of it all!! Just plain weird. Maybe RED should post out free little stickers to every owner to "correct" the labeling on their RED cameras!

Ultra high resolution imaging for surveillance purposes. Fascinating technology, potentially frightening implementation. This is something that may already be in use. If the government is able to silence people like Edward Snowden, we may never know.

Working with Alexa and a boxx meridian video wireless. Any tips on dealing with fan noise? There is a "fan speed" trim pot but I am hesitant to adjust it without knowing the ramificatIons. It is fairly loud. Is it like red where the fan can be controlled until the unit overheats? Boxx documentation is a little sparse online. Thanks!

Hi all, Just wondering if anyone has had the misfortune of feeding a alexa mini wrong fps? I.e. we where shooting at 24 fps but the sound files seem to be at 25 fps for 2 whole days. Wondering how that could have happen. Does the camera sync? Or does it display somekind of error? Looks like I might have done just that a couple of months ago, just wondering if anyone has done anything similar.. all the best Bjössi.

The Canon C 300 has a switch for Time Code in or out, is a XF 305 the same? Are the Time Code circuits indentical in the two cameras? or is Canon making something different... I'm thinking about jamming Sound Devices Time Code through 216 Comteks on two XF 305, I would be recording...BUT have read XF 305 only takes 29.97 ND, can anyone confirm or deny that too?

Is the output of the Sennheiser G3 wireless receiver "hot" enough to properly drive the line level only inputs on the Alexa? I was planning on using my G3's to send a mono scratch track to the Alexa on a shoot this coming weekend. I've worked with the Alexa before, but never with a G3 receiver. Thanks, Tom

I'm working on a shoot with a C300, 1D-C and 5d. I'm recording to 664, sending audio and TC to C300 hardwire, and sending a mono scratch track to 1D-C and 5d via lectro 401. C300 and 5d are fine, but 1D-C is failing to record the scratch track. I'm sending it line level (as per 1D-C menu). The level setting menu sees tone but upon playback there is no sound. We've managed to work around it by keeping the 1D -C close and opening camera mic, but obviously, this won't work all the time. Has anybody experienced similar problems?

Published Tue, 26 June 2018 Chris Morris, CNBC contributor Intel has unveiled a new technology that captures actors, players and objects in volumetric 3-D, letting viewers see things from a near infinite number of angles. Called True View, multiple cameras with multiple lenses offer a 360-degree view of a scene or event. Viewers can choose the camera position and angle they want — and zoom in on a moment at will. The Los Angeles-based state-of-the-art production studio, which opened in January, is dedicated to the production of virtual and augmented reality. At the center of its 25,000-square-fo…
